Is so freaking hard to get. By the time I make it to the Cloth Crafting Guild in Windy its all sold out. And the mobs that drop it are still to high up for me to even attempt to go after. And not being a Thief makes it a lot harder.

Any ideas on how to get my hands on a few stacks without resorting to robbing the bank?

harvesting might bring some yield ... don't get cotton often, but it's better than a poke in the eye.

Yea, harvesting will work, or just lvl Thief enough to help with stealing. There is gardening too, but never managed to do it right /: It can be time consuming, it drove me batty the few times I farmed it just for cash, hate to see how aggrievated I would get if I had to farm it for synthing /:

If I didn't need it to advance my cloth crafting I'd farm it for cash. Just checking the AH's in Bastok and Windy a stack goes for 20k. I'd have to sell 4 stacks of fire crystals for that to work.

I haven't gotten far enough to check Jeuno or the other places yet; due to not being ready to leave the safety and comfort of Bastok. <_<

sorry to tell you this but its bot camped, before you can even access the purchase menu, its been sold out. best bet is to harvest it, an sell off the other stuff you may get. farm the crawlers an sell the silk to buy the cotton. or fish in the many waterways for moat carps an sell them to buy supplies.

Harvesting in Sarutabaruta should be quite ok. You might get lucky and harvest some other good items to sell too. If you have a mule there, lv 10 should be safe enough.

At the entrance to Tahrongi Canyon from Sarutabaruta the mandies that drop it are EP to DC at level 11. It's apparently also a common result from harvesting in Giddeus.

They don't drop cotton in Sarutabaruta, you have to steal it. However, the mandies called Pygmaoi in Tahrongi Canyon and Sylvesters in Bubumuri Peninsula do drop saruta cotton and you can steal it from them too. But she's too low to do that at 11.

She. I do however have a level 5 thief in Windy and do plan on leveling her up a bit so I'll succeed in stealing them from the Mandies around there.

I harvest the cotton balls i need to make shinobi tabi because i find that i can get a few stacks an hour harvesting, plus you get red moko grass(~70k/stack) and mugwort (~25k each), but imho you should not make cotton threads to skill up, im not sure what lvl range your in for clothcrafting but 7-10 should be hackimaki (wind+2 grass cloth), 10-19 linen cloth(2 flaxflowers+lightning).

I don't plan on using them to level up. I just want to have a few stacks handy because I've noticed that by the time I check Windy they're all out.

As for harvesting I'm not sure how to do that.. Is there a guide I can follow? Plus I don't know where harvesting spots are in some areas.

click on the harvesting option and it shows you where to harvest, giddius is the only reliable spot to harvest clothcraft items imo. BTW you want ~lvl 25 to avoid aggro.

my harvesting macro is /item "sickle" <t>

Newb question tho. You just walk up to the harvesting point and equip the sickle? And it'll give you a harvesting option?

no, you have to find a harvest point and then use the sickle on it. here's a handy macro for you to use

                              /targetnpc
                              /item "Sickle" <t>

                              Thanks Yyg!
