I also remember using Stonega on the secret beach in dunes and hitting 3 pugils with it. Everybody in my party wondered why the pugils started attacking, luckily they zoned (while I was ko'd) and when they came back I had figured out what happened. So in party-chat I said something like: "Note to myself, never use stonega when there are several mobs around". Then my party members finally understood what happened.
I think nearly everyone has one of those "Oh, that's what -aga spells do..." moments.

I learned (for the fifth or sixth time) that Misty Lizzards in Kon Highlands link. They link hard.

      Stupid BST...

        Just last night:

Labyrinth Lizards do, in fact, aggro. And Wespes detect by sight, and will kill the 60-something RDM in the time it takes to cast Teleport-Dem.
        Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Re: Things you learned the hard way.

Robber Crabs in Kuftal Tunnel aggro. Which was contrary to what my party had said earlier. We're fighting one, and another attacks me. I was wondering why (did I accidently mis-target? Never done that one before ...) until someone spoke up and said, "Yeah, they aggro. Needless to say, we were not in the best camp ever. We all died, the add resisted Sleep II three times. (Twice by the BLM and once by me - nothing.)

Then (and this is just kind of a rant), the WHM reraised, and raised the BLM, who was only level 49 at the time. WHM promptly gets aggro again and dies before getting the chance to reraise again, and tells the BLM to tractor and raise her. Yeah ... if the BLM was 50, maybe he could have done that ... Yet there I lay, face down, able to both tractor and raise, and she went with raising the BLM first ... and I honestly wondered why she went and raised him before she got to me, but we all do dumb things from time to time I guess.

Turned out that circumstances (at home) kept me from waiting long enough to get raised - I had to log, and right away - so I just HP'ed and logged out. Told all of them I was sorry, and I felt really bad for ditching the party after a death because it's SO cliche that people leave when the party wipes, but my son fell down the stairs and I had to leave, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. He's fine ... poor guy ... but it cut my play time short yesterday.

Anyway sorry for getting so off-topic, but yeah, point of post: Robber Crabs aggro.

i still haven't figured out how to get past the bats in dunes without them aggroing me.
LOL, thats why I always kill those bats anytime I run through as a higher level.

Stuff I learned the hard way

Don't forget to check your sub before Tele-whoring. Especially after farming.

Going to Cape Terrigan via Gustav Tunnel is stupid.

Casting an offensive spell drops sneak. Learned in Eldieme Necropolis.

Demons know when your Invisible is wearing and will follow you around so you can't recast safely.

Evil Eyes in Xarcabard aggro sound and sight, contrary to what my LS says.

If you see Guivre, you're already dead.

Things I learned the hard way:

Yes, yes those bats DO aggro

                    and link

and attack anyone who is in your party who is kneeling down to heal

and while Dolls may have a limited horizontal magic aggro radius, they have an unlimited vertical magic aggro, so that Demonic Doll that WAS at the bottom of the stairs is now attacking the whm casting escape.

Fun times while trying out new camp sites :D

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

Stun doesn't necessarily stop dolls from going kaboom.

                      G3 NMs are True Sight.

                      Jormungand is true sight.

Sneak and Invis WILL drop after you poke the IT mob.

Lag sucks when you're in the Sacrarium with Fomor hate.

Drama is unavoidable, even when you keep quiet.

Something cheap with no profit will always desynth, while the expensive stuff worth a lot more desynthed, will always break when trying to desynth.

No, you will not make the HQ if the materials cost more than 200k/Synth.

You can mess with Guild Bots by casting cure on them.

Gilsellers are weak against all "train" type AoE spells.

No, you aren't going to get a Kraken Club from this Lord of Onzozo, however the people who claim the day you decide not to camp, will.

GMs don't work harder, unless that is they think you're not conviced they'll "look into it." Then they'll work harder to convince you that "they'll look into it." But they won't.

Gilsellers can flee hack right in front of GMs and not get sent to the Gaol.

/shouting that Snape kills Dumbledore will piss people off 2 days after the new Harry Potter book comes out.

Any macro that looks like a kaomoji of Chuck Norris or Ghandi is hilarious.

Yes, you did just overbid by 10k on those crystals.

Shouting "Nigger" in Lower Jeuno won't get a person banned, but shouting, "Where are all da white women at?" from Blazin Saddles will.

That Mithra is probably a dude. And if it's a girl IRL, she probably has her IRL boyfriend close by.

No, that mithra would not like to cyber with you.

                      [GM]Dave jokes are always funny.

Doing /emotes to system messages will at least f*&k with one person by the auction house.

If you don't know if something aggroes, going up without Sneak and Invis and doing /em slaps the shit out of "<Player> was defeated by the Wajaom Tiger."

You probably don't have a date this saturday night. That's why you're doing Dynamis.

Nobody really knows if they're making new episodes of Futurama, although that would own.

If your IRL friends play this game, you have cool friends. If you have to hide it from your friends, you need new friends.

You might want to take the tractor, BEFORE you hit the accept Raise button.

The NM you're looking for won't pop. And if it does, it will pop 2 inches behind you, but in plain sight, 2 inches in front of the guy behind you.

Chainspell + Stun really pisses Suzaku off.

                      Same goes with Fenrir.

If you're a PLD, I feel bad for you. If you're a NIN, feel bad for the PLDs.

Why are clothcraft materials so hard to get from 99-100?

If you have 5 people visible on your screen, one of them is a gilseller, and the rest probably buy gil, including your character.

Doing "^^" does not make you popular with Japanese people.

Then again, doing "^^" doesn't make you popular with NA people either.

The person who has the "JP ONRY" flag up, probably just got out of a party with a horrible NA player.

That horrible NA player is probably in your linkshell, going "Why don't the JPs wanna play with me? ; ;"

Speaking Japanese does help. Saying the wrong thing in Japanese doesn't.

Especially if you want to say "Unsho" and end up saying "Unche".

                            * Worms in Qufim don't need to Bound. Under any circumstance.

                            * Most likely, Curaga doesn't need to be used in Qufim. Or in combat.

                            * If a space in the map of the Jungles would obviously lead to a nearby one, it doesn't.

                            * Yes, your WHM is 32. No, your WHM isn't immune to idiotically dying in the Dunes yet.

                            * Tanks don't use crossbows for hate, so don't use Provoke for pulling.

                            * All because the player has Cure doesn't mean the player knows how to use it.

                            * Spend gil wisely, because whatever you didn't buy yet will be more expensive later.

                            * If they claim they have Rank 10 in two nations and at least one lv75 job, believe them. That still doesn't mean they know your job better than you, or their new Dunes job better than anyone else.

                            * Powerlevels are useful in the Dunes. One of these uses isn't learning WHM.

                            * There's more to hate management than a mage cares to know. Take it from a WHM turned DRK if you haven't learned the hard way yet.

And the hardest lesson I ever had to learn.

                            * All because your Linkshell is fun and willing to help, doesn't mean they're always helpful.

Every single rdm learns to never use diaga the hard way, by agroing at least one crab or pug in the dunes. Yes, it may be slightly more powerful, but you must NEVER EVER EVER CAST IT.
