    Heh, even I can outclaim people with Dia, you just have to exercise some self restraint. Count a couple of seconds before casting. Chances are that other people are spamming their abilities and are getting that message too. Don't get too excited when you see it first pop. Keep your cool, pause for a moment, and then cast. You'll beat em everytime if you're all camping it and see it pop at the same time.

      As a 60 BLM/RDM I can usually claim with stun, and never get that message ._.

        I use Dia II to claim with because of the longer cast time than Dia. The problem is that even if my Dia II lands on it, someone can Provoke it and get more hate than me so I lose claim. I really really hate the new claim system!

          Paralyze is a really long cast, even with fast cast. I can't imagine that working to claim anything, but I guess it's happened. I haven't really experienced this too much because by the time I get mysticmaker targetted and cast dia, he's almost always claimed by someone else.

            Get a couple of friends, one with provoke and the other with a really really low delay ranged attack...

            Seems to be the best way of claiming I have seen so far since the change...

                Dia no longer claims mobs - you have to deal actual physical damage to it...

                  Dia normally does a couple points of dmg unless the mob is alot higher than you. I've definately claimed mysticmaker with dia.

                  Onionsoldier, you've got to try mornings on Midgar if you can. The past couple of days there wasn't anyone else there from about 8am-noon. Definately do it at this time, if you can. I finally got my earing today at around 8:45 am after many many tries (not as many as you, but still I was VERY happy to have this over with, so I feel for ya).

                  Also, the only times this has dropped for me was when I had /thf15 subbed.

                    I was very fortunate to have been trying to farm keys for the Siren's Flute quest and my cousin (who was pulling [we were duoing]) found Mysticmaker unclaimed.

                    Of course since then I've never gotten a drop from any NM that I killed (other than guaranteed drops).

                      Not strictly true. Stun and Sleep cause no physical damage but they still claim the monster.

                        Yeah, I know about mornings. My problem isn't claiming it, it's getting the damned thing to drop... good thing is I've made ~100k off his other drops >.>

                          Well I only go hunt him on one of my lvl 75 jobs and when I use Dia I or II and someone provokes, it's bye bye Mysticmaker. Just happened 2 days ago and I swore I wouldn't camp it again for anyone! You need to have a voker or ranged attacker with this new claim system and its downright annoying.

                            I have made the proclaimation that I will no longer camp this NM for my friends until I have an earring of my own. 0/10 when camping him for myself, 6/6 when nabbing him for my friends. Yes, one friend was a Drk, who just wanted the Earring to macro in during Magic Burst. ><

                                You sure? I was outclaiming gilsellers on PHs for Ulli with Flash? I'm sure Dia would've done it too. But something weird has been going on sky lately.

                                The pop time for the PHs for Ulli are 16 minutes. And the ToD of the last PH was 8 minutes in, and Ulli popped. I thought we got the wrong ToD, that was until I walked THROUGH a zone, and kept going. Dunno what happened. I play on Xbox now, and I thought it was a PC-like glitch. THEN, while we were waiting for Faust to pop, we were fighting some dolls for limit points. It goes into self-destruct mode, and 2 BLMs stun it. It still blows up. WTF? Did SE do something to sky? >.>
