  • good priceing

ok i opend up my bazarre today so that i could make some easy gill while partying and exploring but im not sure if i should go for the 'just over NPC shop prices' or go for the AH prices which to be fair is a bit of a rip off (especialy in jeuno >.< )

currently i have a few stacks of ingrediants for creating Antidote's as well as a dozen bottles of them, also half a dozen disteled waters plus a hand full of tahrongi cactus that make them i also have thunder and water crystels and a dozen dark crystels. now the only trouble is priceing currently the small NPC shops sell stuff like antidote at about 400 to 500 gill and about 100 gill for disteled waters Dark crystels sell for about 700 gill each right now but im not sure if what the priceing should be to make profit and also to keep my stock up...

any help would be greatly apreciated

80% of the price at the AH is a good bet. Most players appreciate a 10% discount in Jeuno.

Whoa whoa. Don't synth Tahrongi Cactus into Distilled Water. It's a huge hassle and waste of money. I know because I did the same thing as a newbie. Distilled Water can be purchased for 11-15 gil at any Tavern. Bat's Lair in Bastok Mines, Timbre Timbers in Windurst Waters, Lion Springs in Southern San d'Oria, or the Merry Minstrel in Lower Jeuno.

Honestly, you shouldn't expect to make much money if any with a low level crafting skill. Anyone can pick up a crystal and do the exact same thing for the exact same price, so unless you find a special odd niche like chocobo fletchings in Sandy, you aren't going to make any money. Also, antidotes aren't a very fast selling item in my experience. I wouldn't expect them to move very quickly in a bazaar, but keeping some useful items like that in your bazaar when you go out adventuring isn't a bad idea.

80% of the AH price is the rule of thumb I generally use, too.

My suggestion would be to stick the price for the stuff like Antidotes at a comfortable point between the AH price and the price the NPCs sell them for. I would also suggest just sell the distilled waters to an NPC since it's rare a player will buy them for more then 12 gil per bottle.

As for the crystals, that's a tough one. The Ah tells us how much players are willing to pay for them but I'm sure many crafters grumble about the cost. Whenever I bazaar my crystals, I always list them at a price I am happiest to pay for them since I get tons of them while leveling. This usually means I'm selling crystals at 50% below or more then what they cost on the AH and they usually end up never lasting long in my bazaar since people love a great deal. Sometimes I get repeat customers for my crystals or people asking to me if they can get a good rate on crystals by the stacks.

The final choice is up to you on how you run your bazaar but I have found I get consistant sales with the suggestions I gave you.

lol well i priced my gear around 10% more than the NPC stores (except for distiled water that i found for 5 gill in the grocery shop in sandy which im selling for the standerd 70 gill) and nearly all of it has gone, i sold all my remedys and ingredients all i got left is some stuff to make carrot broth and pebble soup

which also sells quiet well to the BST job at 120 gill a flask/bowl

now i have something called fiends blood and as far as i can tell its totaly useless so ill sell it for about 1000gill its cheaper than auction

by the way, people actually buy distril water from AH on a daily basis you know... for up to 1k/stack sometimes. You can actually buy then from NPC and resell for profit.

There are a lot more better items you can profit this way, too, if you look around.

This is true, but I find it not worth it to put things on the AH if the price history for the item is under 3k since my selling character is Jeuno. I don't know if this happens to any one else but every time I list something for something 3k and under in Jeuno, it always comes back to me repeatedly.

A good way to pricing items is to look at the market price then the NPC price and finally your cost. Ideally, you should put below AH price by an amount of 10~15% (Jeuno AH). Sometimes NPC will give a better price than you do, this means that you can increase your sales by just lower the price to match or lower than the NPC. However, if your cost is higher than the NPC price it would be better just to buy from NPC.

Say, if you are selling Antidotes. NPC sell them for 500 gil each (6000G a stack), Jeuno AH is buying at 7000G a stack. If your cost fall in between 6000G~7000G a stack then it would be better to buy from NPC then sell to AH (you will save time and no lost). You should sell all of materials since you will get a better deal from them rather than making them into final product. If your cost is lower than 6000G then you should put at a price 10~15% lower than 7000G and observe the market (in AH); if you are putting in a bazzar then it would be best to have a price lower than 500G each - this will make sure you will get rit of them fast. That is just an example. In actual cases, if the item is a selling very fast (e.g. crystals) then you might want to put it at AH price (no 10% less, but just about 5% if you want faster sales); the AH you are nearest too, not Jeuno AH. If you are in sandoria you will want to put at sandoria AH with a slight discount of 5%.

If you are skilling up on it then it should be fine to sell them at AH price while ignoring your cost since skilling up means you have to pay a bit.

The thing about bazzar is that not many people can see your good. If someone is looking for something then the 1st place they will be looking is AH; whether it's for price or avaiability. You need to create an incentive for people to buy if you are putting a bazzar; usually it's a lower price. However, you can only make profit when your price is higher than your cost and you can only maximize it when your cost is minimal.
