Well TH doesn't have any direct effect on rare drops. What TH does is increases the chance for ALL drops. So by increasing the chance for all drops, you get a better chance at the rare item dropping. So basically if you're killing something with out TH and you kill 20 of them and get 2 items total to drop, then get TH in and in another 20 you might get 5 items to drop.

I think I would hold off on the desk until there is evidence. There are people out there that love to test all these theories out. If by now someone hasn't come forward that has tested and said it works, I highly doubt it has.

A week later I helped two of my LS mates camp VE for their hairpins. We claimed the first two pops and got the drop both times. luck.

Nothing effects drops except the thief trait treasure hunter.

There is nothing special, no last hit, no most damage, no nothing. Just have a thf in the pt.

Actually I take that back. I just looked at the materials to make the Desk, there's no way I want to feel the need to buy it.

I really want to test drop rates, but with moon phase, days, and the sheer time it takes...

I'd say it's a pure waste. To make it worthwhile, you'd need to have a huge sample, but in order to have an unchanging sample, you'd need to have moon phase and day stay the same.

This is not what they said.

They said that the THF does not have to do the most damage ro receive the killing blow, just be in PT. They didn't not say if this meant in range, engaged, does some damage, or anything to that nature, but just in PT.

But concerning lucky items, the official word is, as recorded by Sarlos:

Q – Can you confirm or deny that, when certain items are in a player’s inventory, or eaten, the drop rates of items are increased?
A - "lf you believe, your dreams will come true."

The developers only gave one other comment this vague, which was "Face where your heart tells you to", in reference to synthing directions.

I don't think that's possible. Most of the game happens on the server side. You tell the server what you're doing and it tells you what happens. Nothing in the dats to crack.

Well this is just another thing that you're either meant to figure out or simply believe or not. SE tells very little about the games mechanics and thats not going to change, but it's also one of the interesting things about the experience. Things get very boring very quickly when you know everything about them. I for one like the little mysteries.

You're taking a character through another life, you don't know everything about this one so why would you know everything about that one.

I think part of the mystique surrounding the Millionaire's Desk revolves around this:

I recall a few years ago, before the Jeuno gate guards where changed to give signet, the Elvaan guard in Lower Jeuno, Alauverat(sp?) used to tell you something like this when you talked to him:

"You cannot obtain the millionaire's desk at this time."

At the time, there was no known way obtain this item, nor was the synth added until later.

Make of that what you will.

I doubt that any items cept, - Thief's Knife, give TH. I mean, come on, TH is so hard to get, compared to M. Desk and the 4-leaf buds, rebbits tail, lucky eggs... sure they're hard to get, but NO WHERE near Thief's Knife, plus only thives can use Thief's Knife. Do you really think SE would give these other items TH? I think not...
