If you play on Leviathan look for Nitsia (me) or Joshuam (my fiance) if u wana let us kno in there. Or email the information to me at Noodle890@yahoo.com. I'd really appreciate it I need help, please help me guys!

Also, does getting married let us share a mog house?

I believe you have to have someone who is not one of the two getting married request the time and a safe place, and even then its not a guaranteed thing.

Getting married does nothing special, like sharing a Mog House though you might get a ring with the other persons name signed on it.

Re: Weddings? How to get it all 2gether

Lets see if I can remember it all.. I got married in game last September.

The level requirement for weddings is level 20 I believe (I'll double check that).

First you need to have someone be your chaperone. That someone will do the application for you. Find someone you can trust to be vigilant in applying, and who also has the time to participate in the wedding ceremony, their presence is required.

Once you get a chaperone, you should go check out what wedding packages and locations are available to you (FFXI Screen > Compendium > Wedding Ceremonies. This is also where your chaperone goes to apply). You need to choose a style, location, how many guests you want, how you want the spouse name to appear on your rings, and if you are going to purchase the wedding dress for 50k as an extra.

All the cities have a different style. We chose San d'Oria, and San d'Oria style. San d'Oria style allowed us to wear our weapons. I can't remember off hand what the other cities offer for "style". I do remember that Bastok weddings need your rank, it sticks in my mind because I thought that was odd.

Once your chaperone has all the needed information, he/she will go fill out the application. He/she will have to choose which days and time from the list that is available. They do not do weddings on Monday or Tuesday. Your chaperone will have to choose 3 dates and times per application. The weddings are chosen on a lotto basis, so you take your chances. (Unless this was changed between July last year and now). We got lucky, our chaperone applied once a week and it only took us 1 month to get a wedding date.

The rings you get to choose if you want your spouses name or both of your initials. We chose spouse name, so my wedding ring has his name on it.

If you choose to go with the wedding dress provided.. It looks exactly like the Opaline set. The wedding dress was 50k at the time we applied. Honey decided he wanted me in Opaline and farmed for hours to get it made for me... that was my wedding gift.

Your chaperone will get an email after each lotto drawing, it will either be a "We're sorry, please apply again" or it will be "You have a wedding date". It goes to the PoL email, so tell your chaperone not to ignore the flashy email sign in the corner of his screen.

If it is a wedding date email, it will have the instructions on what you need to do to prepare for the wedding, as well as the suggested macros for the actual ceremony. They ask you to macro your vows, which makes it easier. Don't worry if you're not sure how to do it, the Master of Ceremonies will go over it all with you again the day of the ceremony. The email will also include some basic rules they want to see followed by all participants and guests.

The day of the ceremony, the wedding couple and the chaperone must arrive at the wedding location an hour early. This is when you (via your chaperone) pay all the wedding fees (location, guests, and dress if you opted for it). It's a good idea to have a second helper while your chaperone is busy with the wedding details. This helper will be Guest control until the ceremony is ready to begin. The guests are asked to wait a distance away so the bride and groom can go over the ceremony, rehearse and ask any questions. Your chaperone will be escorting the bride, which is why he/she won't be able to do the guest control part.

Are there benefits? Not in game, no. You get a great memory and something special with your loved one and friends, and a cool wedding ring that can start the most interesting conversations.

If you have any other questions, I'm more than happy to answer them. Good luck to you and your signifigant other on your wedding date!

There's a detailed manual on it in the Compendium page in the FFXI section of PlayOnline Viewer.

Be careful with picking a chaperone. The language of the account of the chaperone determines the language of the wedding, so if you have an importer with a JP account as a chaperone, your wedding will be in Japanese.

Weddings are done on a lottery basis. Two people in my linkshell tried to have an official one and had to constantly apply for over four months before they actually got it. They had an unofficial one as an LS event after a month of not being able to get the official one.

There's only three wedding ceremonies per day, between all of the servers on the days they offer them, and it requires GM and Staff available to do.

I don't quite understand why SE makes it so difficult to get an ingame wedding that doesn't actually provide anything but sentimental benefit to the players. I mean, I get that it uses up GM time, so I understand that, but otherwise? I don't see why they go out of their way to make it so hard.

Anyway, good luck. I hope you get your wedding, and if you don't, you can throw yourself a pretty nifty one with your good friends that will be just as great!

I keep pestering my RL husband to get married in game, but he's just not interested. I guess once was enough, lol. I'd just like to see what it's about. Maybe I should go behind his back and marry someone else. O.o ... though I do believe he'd MPK me if he found out.

Amazing how seriously we take this game. -.-

Heh. A jealous husband MPKing you for an ingame (fake) wedding would be kind of amusing.

Meh, I'd call a GM on him. LOL!!!!

Can you imagine what a GM would do if I actually did call him on something like that?

Me: My husband tried to MPK me.
GM: Why might he have done that?
Me: Well ... I married someone else in the game.
                GM: ...
                GM: Are you retarded?
                Me: {Hmmm...}
                Me: Probably.
                GM: lol...

Actually, we need to get Tao in here, he could write a [GM]Dave blog about that ...

GM Call Description: My husband tried to MPK me.

GM: Why would he do that?
Player: Well we can't get a divorce in game, so he thought killing me would work just as well.
                      GM: ...

Oh, man, I'm having way too much fun with this thread.

Intresting I wasn't aware of the style differences and didn't know about the engraving options.

My boyfriend and I are also planning on getting married in game. But it'll probably take a while. I'm hoping on waiting till I'm level 40 and I'll just make myself a Opaline Dress set and have an informal wedding with friends.

It would be awesome tho if being married means sharing the Mog House. Like you and your hubby can be in it at the same time. But the inventory would be split up.
