... has taken over my FFXI playtime.

Last year, I decided I wanted to make a harem of mithra mules for my Tarutaru. I was juggling BRD, DRG and some other jobs back then, so the inventory space was kinda needed and I figured I could use them to farm crystals and such, delevelling them as needed.

And so I gave the first one a really stupid name: Omgwtfbbqkitten.

I started to farm with BBQ and I noticed her affinity for parrying and evasion. Before I knew it I was in the dunes as WAR looking for subjob items.

Recently I had been struggling with endgame obligations as BRD and trying to level two characters, making it worse was the fact that my favorite FF class - Gambler - finally arrived in FFXI as Corsair. I really wanted to level that. And then just this week, I saw all the cool games coming out this fall and the new systems. I knew then I'd have to make my FFXI time more focused and productive, because in mere months it would fall to Zelda and FFXII for a while. Since I was never really satisfied with my Taru BRD and RDM, I shelved my former main in favor of what was once a mule, lol.

Levelling RNG on BBQ now, heh, I'll probably stick with it til the new job hype blows over. Sucks to do Rank, ZM and CoPs over from the beginning, but in many ways, I'm going to be better prepared for them this time than I was originally, especially in the job department.

Anyone else just up and drop a main like that? I haven't deleted the little guy, but I have no real interest in going back to the tarutaru life anytime soon.

My mithra mule is now 43 whm. I wanted to take her up to 75 but after thinking about CoP and ZM missions... I kinda scrap that idea

My mule is now a 75 Bst. lol.

But whenever I feel like say playing a Mithra, I have the Race Changer program from over at the windower forums. Made by Wade. Just makes me look like a different race without having to actually be a different race and character. Love it. Cuz looking at Ces for nearly 3 years is getting old.

Oh, thats Omgwtfbbqkitty, lol. I made the real mules have variations on the name so no one would steal them >.> My original main, Foobar, often got mixed up with another guy called Fubar. I hate that sort of thing.

So there's Kitten, Kitty, Kitti, Kittie and Kittin XD The mules are my spies ^^

I get a lot of "I'm PTing with the Bastok/Windy mule" now, but at least I'm getting confused with myself and not someone else >.>

I just created a Mithra mule named Dream. I love her to pieces already, and I will spend time levelling her eventually. Only reason I'm not levelling her now is because my boyfriend would slaughter me if I took him away from his Dragoon :b.

Yup, me too. My 30-something Elvaan RDM needed some storage space, so I got a kittymule who does a little goldsmithing on the side. Main needed crystals for crafting, so kitty started levelling stuff from 1-10. Main wanted more crystals, so kitty went to the Dunes. With all. Six. Jobs.

But of course, kitty didn't want to be seen in Valkurm with noob gear, so she had main farm her up some damn fine equipment. For all. Six. Jobs. Kittymule has since informed me that she wants to be uberkittymonk when she grows up, and therefore needs a purple belt.

Which now-almost-40 main must get for her.

See a pattern?

Now kittymule's goldsmithing skill has outgrown her ability to farm ingredients in acceptable quantities, so she cajoled main into collecting silver beastcoins. She's not a particularly demanding kitty, per se, she just knows how to mew and purr until she gets what she wants. So, I wouldn't say I'm dropping my main, not in the slightest...but kittymule does take up 50% of my playtime (if not more, some weeks) and sometimes it's hard to tell who's working for whom.

I did that like a year ago, I was tired of my Taru, so I lvled a Hume Brd... but I got tired of that and went back to my Taru

What started innocently as a goal to have a partner to farm up stuff and a on-the-go pack mule grew into an obsession.

My mules tend to take over my life >_> My main Kal has been at 60 rdm for almost a year now, but I've gotten Tryn my hume up to 56 whm, 36 blm... then I got Malacite my elvaan male paladin to 30 before deleting him for a mithra mule on asura (Sowilo) Who's now a 25 war, 20 thf, 20 mnk x_X. Oh and can't forget Chrilee mt lvl 60 elvaan female bard I deleted when I decided to quit Remora... yeah I have issues >_>;;

Who here has made a mule their main?

Has anyone here decided to make a new character/start playing one of their mules as their main char? Or do some of you play two characters "properly"?

Any stories, advice, suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't know; this is probably crazy talk since I don't even seem to have enough time to do everything there is to do as my Mithra BLM, buuuuuut... if I would have known what I know now, I would have played as TaruTaru, not Mithra. Really, my BLM is fine and I like her, but I feel like the ultimate damage levels and generally, the Taru would have made the obvious choice.

I just didn't feel drawn towards the... cuteness. Now I regret it!

I have a mule TaruTaru with red&white hair; she's started levelling RDM, but I don't know if I could face doing everything all over again...

I did, Razaroic originially was my Mule, which I turned into my RDM/SMN/BLU main. I have no real suggestion, other then if you play 2 characters at once, you should share the benefits of each, like if both have a certian craft leveled that can support mage jobs, that would be best to switch back and forth and make what you need rather then buying for 2 characters heh. That's what I do at least.

I'm often tempted to switch over and make one of my mules my main, but I've started over enough times as it is. :/ Maybe one of these days I'll use one of my Taru mules and go BLM/WHM just to see how fast I can level like that, but I dunno.
