    Re: Besieged Update, May 15th

I think their resistances is due to the fact that mana burning is/was so popular. Didnt they say they wanted to make blm less effective in an army type situation? How boring would that be if when lv. 5 mobs breech the gates and they are finished off with a volley of 200 Thundaga III's?

Perhaps a new era of thinking? rather than throwing blm (or any mass number of something) at everything and expecting pwn results.

Mobs also buffs themselves against element they are (supposedly) weak to. I have seen Lamia BRD uses Lightning carol quite often. That might add to resist factor also.

I agree with they went overboard on the difficulty. Even being 70 I had a hard time even hitting the mobs without eating sushi and I have accuracy gear coming out my ears. I won't even mention the damage that I was doing when I actually did connect. Really discouraged me from wanting to do it again until I'm 75. Nerf the damage, ok, but please adjust the mobs damn evasion, it's ridiculous.

Well, I can see why it seems like they are "too hard" but in general the game up to this point has been geard towards groups of 6, 18, 25-30 (Dynamis and some of the bigger HNMs/Gods, etc.), and whatnot. Even a "full" group for dynamis is nowhere near on part with the 500+ that bessieged sees. Sure the mobs are tough... but we -are- Zerging them.

We also don't know what SE intended difficulty wise... Maybe we're supposed to loose more than we win to be able to advance in the storyline.

Besieged in Ragnarok, as far as my gimp timezone goes.. is allways a mess, allways 750 people (i assume thats the limit?)... it goes a lil something like this:

            NERDY EXPLANATION OF BESIEGE! :D

            1. Mobs pop around you.

            2. You move accordingly.
Variable#1, Mages go in the back.
Variable#2, Melee take their place in the frontline.
            3. Mobs lag-warp to you.

            Variable#1, You die.
Variable#1.1 & #2.4.1, You Home-Point.You disconnect while zoning, and can't come back for 10-15 minutes because the server wont let you. Your time was spent, you gain no IS, no EXP, no nada.

Variable#1.2 & #2.4.2, You remain dead for the duration of the Siege, you gain minimal IS and EXP (if someone raises you before the siege ends, that is).
Variable#2, It takes you 10 seconds to engage. And in 10 minutes of bashing the same monster, you dont see any change in the enemy's HP, you also never really see yourself attacking, save for once or twice in that span of time. Suddenly...
Variable#2.1, The mob dies out of the blue.

Variable#2.2, The mob runs off, you cant follow because theres a mass so thick of other players that you rather stab your leg than go through.

Variable#2.3, The mob does an AOE that brings your HP down to stupidly low ammounts.

            Variable#2.4, You die.
In the whole event, you only see people standing around, doing nothing, either theyre afk, or you cant see squat due to lag .

You barely if ever see yourself striking, youre hitting but you cant see it, so basically its do or dont, no strategy involved because you cant see shit, no, dont rely on chatlog either, things are happening 10 seconds before you see it.

Exactly what I've witnessed (though, I'm on the same server as you, Ragnarok).

It just seemed stupid. I'd have complete RDM/NIN buffs (Protect IV, Shell IV, Stoneskin, Utsusemi, Phalanx) and be at full HP. I'd engage, and I'm instantly dead. I check the chat log and all I see is the hit that killed me. The other ones didn't even show up.
Also, another time, I went to try to stop some mobs from making it to the city like it says to do. That's pointless to try. I find a Lamia, and start attacking. I do a little damage, but the thing took like 1 swing at me and kept slitherting away faster than I could catch up. Then I find a ghost and hit it. It STARTs casting a high level nuke, but starts moving again so it could never finish. It's impossible to fight them because they keep running away....

I don't think I'm going to be too interested in Besieged unless they fix this crap.

Speaking of which, you're off-topic BRP. Should I ban you (again)?
Wasn't it Neighbortaru who banned me? Either way, no need to get angery. Shouldn't it be the moderator with the cool and collected comments(and Balfree, please stop PMing me threats), and the troll who personally attacks with with a hint of resentment in the tone? Moderators should be setting a better example, I should be the bad guy. And I still say, a thread should be created in the News section, since that is where it would normally belong.

              ---

Besieged will be fixed when people look at it as Ballista. SE, horrible with planning, has made the ToUA zones too good, but the whole 'holy crap' aspect will wear off once Chocobo Racing get old(and the new expansion) comes out. Besieged is fun with 200 or less people. Don't play on JP primetime.

You give yourself too much credit (typical, but sometimes the truth hurts). I'm merely poking fun at your hubris at suggesting other people be banned for being marginally off-topic, and yet seem to think you should be excused for doing the same.

                ---

My last Besieged didn't go very well, with over 730 players in the zone the frame rate was non-existent; people would just go from full HP to dead with no warning, myself included. In one case I didn't even see the hit that killed me in the chat log, I just got a KO message.

With the recent changes, I'm surprised people haven't tried venturing out into Wajaom Woodlands or Bhaflau Thickets to intercept incoming forces - it would certainly be far less laggy and more manageable.

I just went through 2 Besieges in a row last night, Trolls and Mamool Ja. Fun stuffs as SMN, but it looked like it would suck as a melee... most people missed alot.

And really, once it loses it appeal, I don't see it being gimped in any way. I don't think you're supposed to win a level 5 every time, even most of the time.

Wonder if the Besiege is like what happened on the "Camelot MUD". If it is then you wouldn't want to venture out like that, in the "Camelot MUD" if you ventured out to intercept the group they were like a super version of what they would be when the reached the city to defend.

The only people that ever did venture out is if they were looking for a good drop since drop rate and what dropped increased the harder they were. The ones that ventured out never survived more then 1 or 2 mobs that's for sure, but with some luck they get an item they wanted.

"Intercepting" mobs is a joke. Yes, you do see a giant train of mobs heading toward the city. And they don't walk, they have mega-flee. I actually went and tried it once just to see how strong they were. The mobs ran so fast that any spell I tried to get off failed because they were out of range by the time the spell fired. I tried siccing an avatar on them, but they ran about twice as fast and my pet couldn't reach them.

It obviously was spell-type damage due to the fact it ignored shadows and dealt completely equal damage to me and my friend... if I had to guess, I would have to say it was a blue mage using self destruct. But then again, that's just a guess, it didn't show up on the log at all.
