thinking of starting this game

is it worth actually starting this game after it has been out 4 years? is there still new people join? i was going to buy it earlier but thought i would ask around 1st

Look at it this way. You have four years of content to go through if you do start playing. The game itself isn't going anywhere, and there are new players joining every day.

I have played then stopped, now I am buying again. It is worth it because there are always users about the same level around. So if you ever want to party you can always party with the same level. (It is annoying to party with higher users, that is about 10 levels.) It is totaly worth getting, because you catch up pretty fast and there is always something else to do other than fight.

ok cheers guy. after 4 years i was expectin like all lvl 70+ people then i thought well xbox 360 users will start playin.. and so i thought i would ask for advice

I recently started over as well, and was stunned to find out that there were still alot of new people starting out with the game.

The best thing about FFXI is no matter what level you are theres always alot of people in your range to hunt with.
FFXI has much more people in the low elvel areas than some games what have been out under a month. ^^ and theres also the ammount of content, Can't think of any MMORPG out there that comes close the the ammount of content FFXI has.

xbox 360 did bring a bunch of new players to the game. honestly alot of the new players you think you see. 1 part xbox 360, second part gil farmers, 3part old players making new chars.

to start out new after 4 years your at a huge disadvantage. server inflation, your at the mercy of the 100+3 crafters with mules that are 100+3. gil botters monopilizing the nms, while nms drops have been dropped to unsellable rare/exe. i dont see why anyone would want to do it.

There are obviously new players coming in from the 360, but the Vana'diel Collection has been on the Best selling list at gamestop.com for weeks now. I think we may be getting more PC users than 360 users.

Well see i played for a good bit and all but then Deleted my dude cause it was going no were and now im starten up agin cause i miss the game like bad and i say the game is worth the time

well im just installing now. only prob is the wally at game didnt puty me a disc in the 3rd expansion box lol so that will have to wait till tomorow

Heck, even level 70+ players still go back and level other jobs. There are parties at every level to find, just now with the recent addition of the 3 new jobs and XBox players, there are exponentially more people leveling lower level jobs.

Expansions u dont need them but only if u want the new stuff cause i played with the normal one with just Rise of the Zil....... w/e lol and it worked (by the way this was when COP was out )
