White on black is easier to read on a backlit screen than black on white... It's less straining on the eyes. Also, how do you stand console games then, where most of the text is white on a black or colored background? Heck, even FFXI uses white text.

I've got my OS set to override the color of all text to give my windows black backgrounds with green, orange, or white text to cut down on eye strain, because I don't like essentially trying to read text on a light bulb that is turned on. A computer screen isn't paper. It's much brighter than paper would ever be, and trying to read small dark text off of it will strain your eyes eventually and give you a headache. I applaud anyone who breaks current computer tradition and puts bright text on a dark background for their site design, because it doesn't make me have to stop using my computer after a short while.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

I honestly don't understand why they don't drop the re-use rates on teleport devices down to one or two hours. The whole idea of one teleport per 24 hours is total idiocy and does nothing more than create yet another FFXI timesink. It's kind of sad that it's viewed as laziness that someone doesn't want to waste 30-45 minutes to get from one zone to another when they actually want to play the game and not sit mindlessly waiting to get to their destination.

        UGH!

When will "Hay buddy, why does RoZ's kings drop better gear the entire CoP expansion?" along side with, "Hay buddy, why do you guys simply say CoP's crappiness in important areas was because you wanted to make a good story instead of fixing the bad areas and making it all-around good?"

I need to score an interview with SE, how does that work?

Anyway, I did like the last question/answer, the rest of it seemed pretty unimportant.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

No-one ever asks, "Hey S-E, when do you think the customers will catch on that all these "free" updates of exciting new content actually hides the fact you constantly sell unfinished expansions to your customers and they're actually paying hard-earned cash for a 20% complete expansion and are being drip fed content over a year or more rather than being allowed to progress through the game at their pace not S-E's?"

Also, I wonder what the point was of having Toshio Murouchi (European Online Producer) there. I'm sure many attendees at E3 in LA were extremely concerned with the way things are developing in Europe. That has to be a great job seeing as there has yet to be a single European event or opportunity for European players to discuss issues with S-E.

Your argument fails. If you don't understand how FFXI works, don't play it. 12 * 13 + 30 = 186, FFXI. 12 * 15 + 40 = 220, WoW. The expansion is just selling us the maps and some monster models that we would normally pay for 24 dollars every two months. Stop whining is every post you make. Make a new character and play on a server with more EU if you can't do anything.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

I agree with Blood Red Poet -.- start over if it is that bad and quit complaining. Every expansion has been this way, and not just in FF, oter MMOs do it was well. It is to keep everyone from finishing everything in 5 days. Think of it this way, they release EVERYTHING that was anouced at the FF festival, on the day of expansion release, then we would have nothing new till the next expansion (in like a year or so) and that is not fun. This way we get new stuff every 3 months or so, and it keeps the game fresh and lively.
I have never had a porblem with SE because every time they do soemthing I understand why they do it, and I dont sit here and complain and bitch. I like to talk about improvments and things like that, but that can be done without bitching and wineing.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

I wouldn't start again on another server because I've invested way too much time into my character on Fenrir. Starting from scratch just so I could repeat the same snail-paced advancement again to get back to where it took me two years to get to now is totally out of the question. I asked on numerous occasions for a server transfer but S-E in their wisdom never even had the decency to respond. Had S-E shown a willingness to listen to the European playerbase I'd reconsider but as I, and many others, feel we're just an afterthought to S-E. I can understand this in a way as we never had the PS2 version of FFXI over here and as such we're only a small part of the player demographic. They're happy to take our fees but in no way recognise us as a separate playerbase. As I've said before, we never receive any S-E endorsed events such as the Fan Festivals and events such as Ballista Royale are NA and JP only like so much else in the game.

As to you BRP, if I want to complain about something I feel strongly about I will. Don't think I care one way or another if I upset your sensibilities. I've been a member of this site just as long as you so don't think you're some kind of FFXIOnline veteran whose opinion I should bow down to. In all the time I've been a member of this site I've managed to ensure my account is still free of moderator warnings, something which you can't lay claim to. Additionally, I'm not the one starting threads to cry for attention then abusing my mod powers to post on locked threads. Although, that seems par for the course recently.

And Kailea-D, not every other MMoG is like this as well. I don't know which ones you have played but Everquest used to release expansions that were generally 90% complete at launch. I'll admit, they were often times buggy and when I quit it seemed like an expansion was being released every quarter.

Ultimately, I'd just like to see for once a transcript from an S-E employee talking to a bunch of European players and listening to our concerns and frustrations as they do to the Japanese and North American playerbase. If you think that's too much to ask for then I really don't know what to say to you.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

All I hear is: "Wahh Wahhh, I'm European. I need love. I'm going to make some comments about your warnings and such, DRAMA!"

Once again, you fail to realize that you don't understand FFXI is different than other MMORPGs. I've explained it already. If you have such a huge problem with it, quit. All you do in complain. Just quit the game if you are so unhappy. Seriously, just do it.

                    Hmm.

Pretty lame how SE seems to offer no support for European players...
And, that must suck, Grizzle. You have a right to complain, sure...

                    But.
                    Blood Red Poet is right...
                    If it's so horrible...
                    Quit playing.
Why continue to pay a company who pays no attention to your region's playerbase???

BRP, I find is very interesting that you refere to FFXI as a different MMORPG, I also think it is different, but I would like to see your points of view!

FFXI is diferent than alot of other MMO's in feel and execution. Basically SE isnt catering to a select few and thats a good thing. They have features built in that I wish other games had.
Like /sea features. the enhanced friendlist. The ability to be in multiple linkshells. The fact that we NEED each other to succeed, among a few. Lets also not forget the ability to change Jobs without rerolling a new toon.

Hopefully, Treasures of Aht Urghan won't be the last expansion, there are still some parts of Vana'diel that are mentioned ingame through NPC dialogue and item descriptions that we still have yet to see. To my knowledge, the lands outside of the area around the Quon and Mindartia continents include the Near East, the Far East, and the Far West. In Treasures of Aht Urghan, we are given access to the Near East (which seems to emulate the real-world Middle Eastern culture). Now that leaves us with the Far West (a Latin American like civilization) and the Far East (the oft-mentioned continent in which seems to be more actively involved with Quon and Mindartia than any of the other two and is akin to Southeast Asian culture). I just hope they'll add all these lands in future expansions...

Plus the ring is level 60. That excludes a lot of players from even being able to use the ring. Me personally, I'm happy with what we got, but I also have two jobs over 60. I don't even have my HP set in Al Zabi. I stay in Nashmau since that place is deserted compared to al Zabi, but still has nomad moogles and the Jeuno AH connected to it. If I have to go back to Al Zabi, the Azouph Staging Point runic portal is like a 5-10 min walk from there. I save the ring for when I wanna go to someplace like Halvung for Mamook.

Was this a cheap shot? Our opinions are around the same area of agreement, however, I'm probably less blindly fanboish, as I realize SE likes to suck on a lot of things for no reason.

FFXI isn't limited to cap or an end-game per say. When SE learns what the hell it is doing, maybe one day they'll realize their dream and have it be as they want it. Stop asking for my opinion anyway, I'm not aloud to post on these messageboards without being harassed by mods or getting banned or having my posts deleted in mass.
