BST/whm vs. BST/nin

What are you opionions on the two subjobs or other subjobs you would use in Balista and/or Brenner

Would the new jobs make a better sj for PvP?

bst/whm would prolly be better at first until it runs out of MP for casting diaga, but in the end, the /nin would most likely win, cause its getting 2 hits in, with 2axes that have more stat+ or add effects

IMO blu is a nice sub, cocoon gives you half of your def+ so at 75, it'd give around 150-200 <_< and it gives some other nice stuffs

Is this with just one gear set? Or is gear swapping allowed here? If gear swapping is allowed I'd have to go with the BST/WHM could come in w/ MP gear near the start and as MP is depleted switch to other stuff throughout the fight and also make use of the Gaudy Harness, etc... if not, I can't be sure.

Generally you don't stay alive long enough w/o shadows in Ballista as /NIN to survive against diaga spamming people, but since BST's MP only comes from subjob, there are limits to how much diaga spamming can be done.

BLU would be the best new job for a sub, for reasons stated above.


I doubt COR or PUP would be useful as a sub at all, however.

Well both are given a chance to buff and rest up till full. BST whm. Honestly bst/whm wouldn't need to cast diaga as often. With pet AND BST beating on nin the shadows won't last long anyways. Pet usage would matter a little
Funguar or Sabre would work nicely here. The double attack would just eat through shadows faster. MP would effectively be put to work, curing maybe even trying a debuff or two. Dia, Slow, Silence, Paralyze. Any debuff thrown on the BST/WHM can be erased via any -na spell or erase. Gaudy harness when MP gets low. /nin could try a dual rune axes/gaudy gear set for +10hp per tick. But the whm has too much on it side. Divine seal could really make the match.

On the other side of the fence. Swinging two axes and a pet, that's 3 attacks per round which might make casting just a tad difficult, if the /nin times his attack to swing after his pet's attack they can get a funky rhythmn to make it hard for the /whm BST to time their casting right.

But then it also boils down to tactics. In PVP against BST, the player has a choice. Kill the BST and the pet is dead. Or kill the pet and finish off the weaker BST. I mean if the NIN can successfully take out the BST's pet (if we are playing 1 summon fight) they can easily hide behind shadows.

Eh, but I guess I can go on and on about this. In this end it boils down to..
skill, some luck and preparation. Player > All.

I'd have to say BST/NIN > BST/WHM, but it depends on the race too. Like the above people said, if the BST/NIN times his attacks right with his pet, the BST/WHM would have a hard time curing himself. Unless the BST/WHM had a chance to be fully buffed and full mp, I think the BST/NIN would win.

However, why would you want to do a 1v1? As BST I just try to pick off the mages and low hp melee.

Well like I said, the BST/NIN can time their attacks to make it 'difficult' for the whm to get off their spells, not stop them all together. Which all boils down to skill.

If a BST/WHM is good enough at casting under pressure they could easily catch on to the rhythm of the ninja. If a whm is not that adept at casting well the /nin would own the /whm like their name was kunta...err..I mean toby.

On the skill of the /nin. If the /nin sticks to one attack pattern and stands there just swinging it won't take a /whm long to figure out the pattern can get off a cast. If the /nin fought no locked on and ran around to mixed up their attack pattern. It could give even the best of /whm a bit of trouble.

So its all skill in manuevering. Though if this is a pure one on one brawl only allowing natural abilities and no items to be used. /whm would only have to land one spell. Silence. Paralyze can interfeer with casting, dia lowers defense and slow negates that lil haste they get from dual weild.

Sure /nin can enfeeble themselves but the /whm has the tools to negate them.

If you allow items then well its that's something completely as that's a whole nother dynamic. Then its all about who has the better inventory.

Assuming both /nin and /whm have the same skill level I'd say the /whm would take it 7 times out of 10.

Wait how did this start from "What's the best SJ?" to "Who would win 1v1?"

I'd have to say /WHM is best, however in ballista everyone is like "lolbst lets gang up on him" and you have 4 melee attacking you at once whenever your pet is out. I'd have to say /NIN for uncapped and /WHM for anything else due to not having a tiger or funguar around. Need some damage at least.

Wow I SO missed the topic of the thread.

Took it as a BST on BST who would win. Ack! My bad. Hmm it depends on the participants really. /NIN for offense. /WHM for a defense/support.
