once you finish that quest, head to Mhaura and board the ferry to Aht Urghan

Are you saying that I have to do this walkthrough before I start the actual quest in Bastok to get the PuP job?

I have had a read through and I'm afraid I don't understand what is going on here very well
Isn't there anything a bit more simpler than that?

i'm afraid it doesn't get any simpler snowball.

that quest will let you get on the boat to aht urhgan. no aht urhgan, no PUP understand?

but you can talk to the guy in Bastok for now to start the quest (you just won't be able to finish it until you get to aht urhgan).

Thanks for the link, but I'm finding some of that really confusing. Is there nothing a bit shorter and more simpler to understand, or is this the best there is right now?

1. You speak with Shamarhaan (F-9) of Bastok Markets.
2. You speak with Iruki-Waraki (K-9) of Aht Urhgan Whitegate.
3. You speak with Ghatsad (I-7) which is necessary for Aht Urhgan Whitegate.
4. You fetch ●antique automaton from Arrapago Reef.
5. You examine ??? (H-10) of Arrapago Reef.
6. You get ●antique automaton.
7. You hand Ghatsad antique automaton.
8. You speak with Ghatsad after crossing 0:00 at the time of Vana'diel.

let me try.

1) get your ferry pass to aht urghan. to get this pass you must do what it says in this link: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/qu...ferry.pass.html

how do you get to aht urghan when you are done with the above quest? you must travel to mhaura and take the ferry. make sure you get on the correct ferry, you can check which ferry is coming next by talking to the mithra npc at the end of the dock. to get to mhaura, you must enter it from buburimu pennisula.

2) goto bastok and start the quest for Pup. here are the steps:

1. You speak with Shamarhaan (F-9) of Bastok Markets.
2. You speak with Iruki-Waraki (K-9) of Aht Urhgan Whitegate.
3. You speak with Ghatsad (I-7) which is necessary for Aht Urhgan Whitegate.

let me try.

The rest of the info you wrote out sounds quite helpful and should get me through okay, but that link........ well!

It it broken, because all I get when I click on it is a very blank page saying
"page not found" right in the top left hand corner.
Therefore I am STILL not the wiser about how to do the quest to get the ferry pass to Aht Urghan....... unfortunately.

Do you know of anywhere else where I can follow instructions on the ferry pass quest instead please?

Unfortunately, with the Myster Tour site, everytime you click on something through that page, the web link in the address bar never changes like most other sites, which means that when I clicked on your link, I am still at the front page which is confusng me as I don't know where to look.

Reading that big long post is too tedious for me and a lot of it seems rather confusing. I did however read that to get the boarding pass, you have to start a quest called "The Road to Aht Urhgan" which starts from an NPC in Jeuno. (I think it was lower Jeuno, reading the link you re-corrected)

However, there are couple of things I am worried about.

1 - Reading the top half of the info, it says that to get this quest, you must be a member of tenshodo. What is tenshodo, and is it really necesarry for getting this quest. How do you become a member of tenshodo? I'm quite confused about this.

2 - Firstly, it appears that you have to choose items from 3 lists.
Beginners list
Intermediate list
Advanced list

I don't undestand why there are 3 lists of these terms. Does it matter which list you choose from or do you have to be of some certain grade (or whatever it's called) with tenshodo to be able to choose from the correct list.

1. Yes, you do have to be a member of Tenshodo.

2. The other three items are the ra/ex items required for the Mhaura subjob quest. Buburimu Penninsula, kill Dhalmels, Rarabs, and Bogies (You can kill any bogy anywhere for a bloody robe but the ones in Buburimu at night are about the lowest-level bogies there are).

All of which is pretty easy to find out if you search the relevant sites for things like "tenshodo" and "dhalmel saliva."

snowball.... you've been around for quite some time, i really dont want to sound like a jerk but you need to start doing things and putting effort into figuring this stuff out before asking questions. everyone here has given you all you need to know to do what youve been asking.

please read carefully with the quests. they tell you everything you need to do. if you cant understand what the quests ask of you there is no amount of help we can give you that will make you understand.

the 3 lists are broken down into difficulty. since not every is lv 75, they made these 3 lists to allow all players to be able to get the items needed to goto the new exp. areas. so choose according to youre skill level.

Tenshodo - What is it used for in general apart from being registered for this PuP job?

Snowball, please don't take this the wrong way, but you've been playing FFXI since 2004. Surely in all that time you've learned something about how to research things in-game and on sites like this. According to your profile you have 390 posts on this forum alone - that's a lot of time spent talking and reading about this game.

I know this doesn't come naturally to everyone, but I'm honestly puzzled as to how it is possible that you've spent so much time reading these forums and playing the game without even learning the basic elements of the game, and without learning how to ask people in-game if you have questions.

The Tenshodo is the criminal underworld element in FFXI. They're a smuggling organization, headed by Aldo of the Tenshodo (if you've watched the intro movie that plays when you start FFXI, Aldo is the young boy who loses his sister in the Shadow War attack).

You learn a lot about them if you've spent any time doing your city missions to get to at least Rank 5. More information and background is provided about the Tenshodo in a variety of quests in each city, particularly Norg, which is one of the Tenshodo's strongholds.

Really? Which one is she? Does this come about in a quest or mission that you learn of her fate?

Snowball, Tenshodo access is also required for unlocking Samurai (and maybe ninja? can't remember been too long). Its where you quest for all the ninjutsu scrolls, and its where the pirates attack from, when you're on the ferry. You also have to have access to do some of the missions ingame. (If I recall correctly, you have to talk to Aldo before finishing the rank 5 quest.)
