Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?

I am currently working on leveling my WHM after finally getting RDM to 30. Main reason is because I need to level both it and my BLM. But I also want to level is so I can sub it when I decide to take BRD to 75. And then there is the teleports. And the AoE buffs and cures.

I think I would really like playing WHM. Hopefully it will start to level faster when I am partied up though because getting to 10 is taking me some time.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?

I don't hate other players, I hate playing WHM. Well, more specifically, I hate main healing. I did it through the Dunes and both Jungles with RDM (soloed the Qufim levels, I needed a break), so I have some experience with it. The trouble is that I spend so much time concentrating on watching hp/mp bars and checking for debuffs dropping that I can't really appreciate what's going on. Mind you, from the back row I can barely see what's going on anyway.

I'm levelling WHM at the moment; I'm soloing EM/T gobs in Buburimu Peninsula as WHM/BST. I tried partying in the Dunes, but too many parties in the area competing for too few mobs led to the immortal line "If I wanted to fight Toughs, I'd sub BST and solo them". I'm level 19 just now and have bought as much HQ kit as I can get my hands (and spent most of my cash in the process) on in preparation for heading to Qufim. Anything (within reason) that can make the process quicker is fine by me.

Incidentally, I have a theory that I play BLM as RDM and RDM as WHM, so when I play WHM, I just get confused .
I have heard that those who celebrate life
walk safely amongst the wild animals.
When they go into battle, they remain unharmed,
the animals find no place to attack them
and weapons are unable to harm them.
Why? Because they find no place for death in them.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?

I noticed that there were a whole slew of Whms before TAU.

I doubt the amount of them has changed, just the amount of parties that need them.

WHMs under level 30 are only a myth.

Well like I said, whatever you need to round out a party, no one is leveling it right then. Next week there will be a hundred of them.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?

Late last week and over the weekend on my server Unicorn I noticed there were a lot less WHM in Dunes, which was making it difficult for me to get into a decent PT. This has been the first time since I've been back (playing for over a month) that I was encountering problems leveling in Dunes. I leveled RDM to 19 with no problems a few weeks ago. I suppose its probably most likely due to a lot of players leveling the new jobs and new players shying away from leveling WHM. I'm very tempted to switch to WHM and level it up to 18-20 after I get my Chocobo license. I'm sure I'll need WHM subbed eventually anyways for RDM and I know I sure could use the practice of being healer in PT, hehe.

Some days I've seen 5 whms looking for party in the d00nz, other days I can't make a party because there are none. One thing I do know is that I'm avoiding to d00nz as much as possible for awhile , too many "expert" noob experiences in the past few weeks for my likeing.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?

I agree with whomever said that there are probably more parties that NEED a WHM right now -- with people coming in from the 360 and everyone and their brother rushing out to level the new jobs, I've seen more parties in 40 and under areas lately than in the last several months. Every support job that appears right now is probably getting snapped up the moment they surface, much less put a flag up. And you know how Dunes people are... afraid to duo or trio, but too impatient to wait for a good party set up, so you get people asking you to main heal when you have 60 mp, as mentioned.

From leveling WHM a little, I can say that it's the weirdest job I've leveled, invite/party-wise. Sometimes I will start getting invites the moment I switch jobs, before I even have all my armor on, if I haven't gone /anon... and other times I can sit for days and not get an invite. I know, I know, that's all jobs, right? But with WHM it seems more cyclical.

I often wonder if that up-and-down cycle is self-creating (especially past the Dunes, once everyone starts hanging out in Jeuno). People sit around in almost-full parties waiting for a healer to pop for a whole night, so some of them get the idea to level WHM the next night. Suddenly there are a ton of WHMs LFG, and they don't get instant invites, so they go back to whatever it was they were before. The cycle usually seems a little longer than that, but that's the general idea. Just a curiosity.

However think of all the times that you see someone shouting in Jeuno for a tele and if they don't get it right now start yelling about all the 'damn lazy whm who are never around and too good to tele people, what the hell it's their job.'
I've actually never seen anything like this, but then again I spend about 5 minutes of every month in Lower Jeuno. What I did see is my whm friends being annoyed at requests for raises/tele's/etc, actually doing it, then being shocked when it happens again.

I guess I've never had this problem and won't, since I have no problem telling someone requesting a raise, from half a world away while I'm exp'ing, that maybe they should just suck less next time, and have a good day.
