I've been leveling my lower jobs in the Dunes lately.. and as far as I can see... the WHM population has severely decreased (probably due to leveling the new jobs, etc) in the Dunes area. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe I just had a bad day or so.. but when I was pting with my brd the other night, there were NO whms available at all, the first party wanted me to MAIN HEAL W/ 60 MP (wtf).. and kept bouncing from party to party, since no whms=no pt most of the time, and the RDM's only wanted to melee and cast cure 1 rarely. I'm hoping its just me.. but just asking you all out there if you've noticed this.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
I don't think there's ever been a plethora of WHM's in the Dunes. Probably even moreso now that people are wanting to level the expansion jobs more than anything. I assume it's Powerlevel city now, but I haven't set foot in the dunes in over a year. I prefer to just solo to 20, or if I do group up, go to better places like the Maze or Korroloka Tunnel.72+2 Bonecrafting (Bone Purification, Filing, Protective Spectacles, Boneworker's Apron)

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
The last time I went through the Dunes was a few months ago, but even then the place wasn't exactly overflowing with WHMs. If there's ever going to be "a lot" of them around, I'd guess it'll be in a few months, when the new players on the xbox 360 realize they want it for a subjob (I've always had the impression WHM isn't a popular starting job).Ellipses on Fenrir

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
Some jobs go through some levels really fast, so that WHM you partied with yesterday might be 2 levels beyond you now. On top of that, passive jobs like WHM appeal to a smaller group of people then the more aggressive jobs do, so less people end up leveling it.
In short, no I don't think there are less WHM at any level then there used to be, just that the things that make a WHM a WHM mean that it will always seem as though there aren't enough. Of course, if you need one particular job to round out a party, there will never be one searching when you need it.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
You have to be crazy to level whm anyway, I'm told. 90% of end-game whm's I know hate the job and have either leveled another job to take its place, refuse to play whm at all, or in one case actually deleveled their whm from 75 to 65 so they wouldn't be asked to use it anymore. I've just gotten my whm 70+, and haven't really noticed anything terrible about it, so you'd have to ask them if you wanted to know why.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
Personally, I believe that people think healing gives them cooties. Hence, why you don't see many whms around. Everyone goes "White Mage? Ewwww.. I'll never level that job!", and while they're leveling going "Where are all the white mage?"

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
I'd think pretty much everyone would want to level it at least to 37. Between teleports, warp, outpost warps, chocobos, and airships, you could get almost anywhere you wanted quickly and decisively without having to shout in Jeuno or take 30 minutes chocobo'ing the long way.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
It's true that the passive jobs in FFXI are a lot less popular. WHM and BRD in particular - and of those that make it to 75, not many really know what they're doing with the job.

You don't hate playing WHM, you hate other players. Eventually you realize you don't have to put up with their crap if you play a job that's less 'in demand,' or play BST.

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
Lol, the worst part is, I just got the game last friday for the 360 and I'm JUST about to go train there. And I know better than to solo in the dunes, I need to party, and whats a party without a WHM? Death. So I think I might be screwed, I'm a lv 15 too. So theres no real other good spot to train...

What Mhurron says in very true... I dread going to the La Thain, Valkrum, or the Highlands for any reason. While I am seeking. I will be bombarded for Raise, PL, or tele requests. And Not one of them Will be polite in any way. No "Excuse me..." or "Please" or anything. Same goes for Raises. I dont know how many times I have been walking or riding somewhere and I get a tell out of No where "Raise Can I have it <pos>" Granted I am a Whm... but I have stuff that I want to do too... I am not a public Servent at the beck and call of any Joe Shmo that thinks his time is more important than mine >.>Kuura

Re: No more WHM's in the dunes?
WHM was my 2nd job to 75. I liked it. ^^ Was very laid back. As a WHM I don't have to pay attention to TP as much (nobody frets if I don't pull off a Banish Magic Burst...if they're even doing Transfixion, Fusion, or Light skillchains. I don't have to pay attention to the mob buffing itself or enfeebles sticking. Only thing I really have to pay attention to is HP bars, my MP, and buffs. All of these are displayed on my screen (with the exception of Haste), so I don't have to scan the chat log much.
Is so laid back compared to my first job, Red Mage, in which I would have to pay attention to party's HP and MP, Buffs wearing off (Refresh/Haste mostly), Enfeebles sticking/wearing off, and the skillchain for Magic Bursting.Red Mage ~ White Mage ~ Summoner ~ Black Mage ~ Beastmaster ~ Samurai ~ Paladin ~ Blue Mage
