I use little faces all the time in my chatting in FFXI, and I'm a 28 year old male. In fact, FFXI has taught me to use them so often that I sometimes forget and try to use them in IMs or (worse) work related emails.

Talk about embarassing.

Same, i use the faces alot as well... that and i think i use "lol" a little too much... the faces help expresss character when talking through text

I hate that phrase...
I'd much rather use "XD".

I might use "lawl"...Just because it's funny...

I use emoticons all the time as well... they are quite fun to use. Except... I use them without thinking sometimes.

I'm usually able to keep that in check though.

I use smilies and such quite a bit in-game, too. I don't know anyone, male or female, who doesn't use them at least some. I don't get how someone could think that's a distinctly female habit. o.O

I've taken to typing "lol" just to indicate "I read what you said" more than anything. Playing busy, busy jobs with a controller means that if I take the time to type real responses I start to suck.

Well, I know quite a few people that don't use them at all, they're the more serious types though.

And yeah, I get that too, I suck pretty bad when typing and tanking at the same time with my controller/keyboard setup.

Haha, I've gotten into the habbit of auto running ALL the time, just so I can do just that >.>

TBH i hate the phrase "lawl" for some reason... somehow i made up the term "lozle" to replace it... i have a weird way of making up stuff like that up... and it has to do with my view of "internets speak"
Ive also gotten into the habit of using them in places i shouldn't... i've caught myself trying to slip one into a school report before ><. Ive also started to use "lol" or "lozle" as much as periods, to show ive read something, a way of responding to something that i can't think of a better response to or to show a light-hearted comment that might be taken offensively.

I find that I'll type something, like "hmm" and hit tab, expecting the auto-translate function to kick in when I'm on messenger. >.< Orz.

I think I might possibly need to spend some more time outside.
