I think that I would wait to be contacted by the buyer, because, like others have said, if he truly wants the gil back, he'll ask for it. Otherwise, the guy probably just figures, "Oh, well, sucks for me."

I probably wouldn't make an offer to the guy to give the gil back, but if he asked, I most certainly would.

Please don't be judgemental, guys. T.T Even if she doesn't hunt down the bidder and force the excess gill upon them, that doesn't mean Yunnie is a bad person or anything. The fair and more realistic thing to do would be to wait until that person contacts you. If they ask for the excess gill back because it was an accident, THEN the right thing to do would be to return it. If she's not contacted, then she has every right to keep the excess gill.

It was a legal trade, after all. Yunnie isn't liable, really...

Can't speak for other people, and as tactless as I can be with stupid people, I try to be a man of integrity. Clearly, the person miscounted decimal places, as evidenced by the wailing and gnashing of teeth, and whatnot with the rending of clothes and wearing of sackcloth. A 9 mil mistake certainly hurts when it's not in your favor, wouldn't you agree?

I'd give the money back, but that's just me.

for a record, I miss priced my mercurian kris once. 40million, I bazaar it for 40k.

i have had a few times where i returned gil from over bid. but sadly there were way more times i got screwed out of money because i bidded on wrong item, or didnt purchase a stack, but a single item.

i got to the point i just made a jeuno mule, now he buys way under priced stuff, an keeps over bidded gil.

I've had similar things happen to me in the past, and although it was hard to give them their gil back, I did. I never received anything in return but I felt better about it. It's up to you to decide what to do with the gil though. I too am a believer in karma, even as I type this reply, there is some idiot right outside my apartment setting off fireworks >.<, but It will eventually subbside and life will go on. What I'm trying to convey is that either way life or FFXI (what ever you prefer lol) will continue, so do what you want. Keep it or give it back, just dont be surprised if Karma "bites" you for keeping it.

I have overbid and got suck deals because of my stupidity, and I have underbid on got great deals. I don't feel I owe anyone anything if they misbid, and I'll freely admit that it depends 100% on my mood if I would give it back. Would I feel guilty if I didn't? No. I'd feel better cause I'm rich. Would I feel worse if I gave it back it? No. I would feel better cause I did a good deed. *shrug* I don't think there really is a right or wrong. Its just whatever you do you do.

One time someone paid me like 200k for Earth Crystals. Well, as everyone knows, crystals sell fast, so when I went to check who it was, it wasn't on the list, and the dude never contacted me.

Well, if you're going to keep the gil, at least be honest about it. People don't keep gil to teach people lessons, or because they really think the person meant to overbid. I figure if it takes more than a paragraph to justify the morals for something, someone's probably looking for an excuse they can tell themselves to feel better about being an ass. As soon as someone whips out the "What is really right and wrong?" chances are someone's being a dick somewhere around the situation.

I'd certainly return part if they contacted you. I've both returned gil and had it returned. What "everyone else" does has never really been sufficient reason to refuse to correct an honest mistake.

Wow..You're lucky! As for me, I'd keep it, unless the person asked for it back--then I'd give them part of it back. Their mistake and what not, y'know? I'm really low on gil, 10 million would be a blessing! Would someone please come to Phoenix and misbid on some of my crystals?

I have to say I'd mule it for a couple weeks and if they don't contact me for it, keep it. If they did care enough about it to contact me and explain it was a mistake, I'd gladly give it back. I've overbid on items before myself and if it was a large enough amount to care about, I persued it

Well, I'm glad I am who I am. I have given back large amounts of gil to people who overbid. I was not contacted most of the time and do you know what they said when I contacted them? "I thought why bother contacting the person when they won't answer or won't give it back." So thats why you aren't getting contacted many times. People are so disillusioned about other people that they won't even bother trying. I'm proud to say that I don't deal with being greedy and that I can treat others the way that I would like to be treated. Keeping the gil is just plain greed. You can try and cover it up with "its fair to keep it" "they are the idiot for not being careful" "the game gives you plenty of opportunity to cancel" blah blah blah....its just greed.
