I've heard that he's banned a PS2 player who did a GM call on a O. Kote camper. The reason? He was "using the windower". Take this with a grain of salt however, it's just hearsay.

I wouldn't be surprised if IGE was bribing a SoE employee for free reign with cheats.

I don't know if I understand this correctly, before FFXI was released in NA, S-E was putting applications for GM and I remember seeing it online too, can't remember where however.
S-E clearly indicates that everyone applying for GM needs to be fluent in both English and Japanese. They even required 2 resume, 1 in each language.
So I really believe all FFXI GMs are working from Japan. And highly doubt they will let any SoE employee into the position working from the U.S.

I might be wrong tho.

Someone told me that the language requirement is only for emergencies when SE and SoE GMs need to collaborate, but that's also just a rumor.

I don't understand why they havn't banned the two people botting the Wamoura cocoons in Al Zahbi, on Seraph. They're two taru sitting anon, and /away, at the feet of the shop NPC. I'm pretty sure they're run by the same person, and both bots just spam a generic purchase packet that repeatedly buys a single cocoon for a certain amount of time.

Well, I'm inclined to /cheer that something is being done about Jcblue, if only because i've heard way too many stories to disbelieve. All this aside though, another GM told me that, more or less, speed hacks, windower, etc., etc. all come down to the descretion of the individual GM. I found this out when my girlfriend's FFXI whacked out and started messing with her PC's clock. She was "Speed hacking" without a speed hack.

Four GM's worked with her, aside from the guys @ tech support, but [GM]Luminious flagged her for speed hacking even though she was calling GM's @ tech support's request. -.- Well, he SAID he was flagging her; dunno if she actually did.

So while Jcblue has a reputation for being a dick, and probably abuses his power, from what I understand he's technicly within his job description - literally if not in spirit.

Personally, I make a point to never call a GM for anything. In my experience, almost all problems can be solved on your own. Why take the risk of running into a GM who happens to be having a bad day? Remember: Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Overclocking your PC is speedhacking because FFXI is 95% relient on your CPU, so yes in the eyes of FFXI GMs overclocking is speed hacking

There's a whole topic about it...but basically she didn't even know her computer was messing with it's own clock time. Put yourself in her shoes... You just start running at constant flee speeds for no apparent reason. Your boyfriend goes into your computer's bios to see if it's been overclocked, and it wasn't...

You call tech support because you don't know what else to do, and they warn your account for speed hacking. Even though you came to them asking for help.

People just popping in on my screen is a common occurance to me, so I don't pay it any mind any more. I just assume I'm lagging. I can't say that I've ever seen somebody that I thought was speed hacking.

Tangent: I love this event, it lets me get a mule to jeuno much easier. My bastok mule #2 made it from bastok to jeuno without needing sneak/invis at any point.

Then you'd have to go to a Nomad Moogle in every zone. Not all too easy.

"Yeah I'm paying monthly to be here, oh look I can run faster! *gets banned* zomigod I didn't do it I was using my friends computer!".

Ugh, sorry. Hackers just bugs me.

I did it solo as a level 1 mule with a 3 to 5 second delay lag. I didn't get hit once, and I didn't use any items. I completely disagree. Especially since the moogles are on the way to/from Jeuno.

This guy is apparently dismissing any argument out of hand when it comes to a ban/suspend decision. His decision is made, he's got other things to do, he bans, he moves on. Not the best way to run a business when you're the public relation. But it does give him a lot more time to save people who have fallen and can't get up.

Or it's the eternal coffee break.

I've seen similar actions in wizzes (gms) on my own game. They got better things to do so they ban and move on. Fortunately, I'm not a sucky game owner. A wiz (gm) doing that on my system is getting his butt handed to him.

Woah, there's a lot of posts about this GM... I guess he's a horrible GM.

Hopefully I won't run into him when I start playing >_< I'll just take lots of screenshots if something bad ever happens.

Just make sure you get fraps (fraps.com) so you can take pics of the text...That was my mistake, I didn't have fraps running cause all I was doing was tele'ing so theres nothing to film there... btw when you start if you get on Fairy look me up, name is Aingeal
