The next ffxi?

Well we all know that every game doesnt last forever. Who do you think will be the next ffxi? Will it be one the games already in development or will it be a game not even thought of right now? Or will there never be another game like ffxi?

given that ffxi was successful i'd think it'd be silly not to have a sequel.

i'm pretty sure having a ffxi-2 where the base of the game would be the same but the game would feature new content for levels 75-150 with the ability to transfer characters and have a completely new graphics engine with the tweaks everyone has been hoping for

i.e.
Multithreading for multiprocessor systems
Supporting SLI/Crossfire
Windowing
Quality textures
Crafting that's not broken
Moving away from farming as a form of income
Class flexibility & Improved soloing

There are a lot of things i'd like to stay the same in a sequel like:

Skillchains
XP/Leveling system
Limit Breaks (don't kill me!)

Whatever it is, it's going to have to be next-gen. Everything on the horizon looks fruitless and unoriginal. We're at the point where the biggest hitters are already here, and now thousands of smaller, hopeful games wash in and out with the days. It's going to take a lot to trump what we have now, and even then people will still be playing the older games. EQ still has a bigger fan base than most other games out there.

n if they do raise the lv cap like u said from 75-150... newbs couldnt handle that. they'd faint. they cant even handle lv 1-75. jebus help them.

The newbs need to just understand that pick up parties just aren't what SE intended. They really only work as intended for high demand jobs like Rdm / Whm / Brd / Pld / Nin where parties don't work if that job type isn't on.

Its really only caught onto me recently ... funny how leveling thief took me 1 year from 1 to 45 while leveling rdm took a month or less ... (to illustrate rate of invites). My friends that do mostly statics can play whatever and level at the same rate or faster, and without wasting hours of their lives away.

I think that all SE would have to do, is completely revamp the game, ie. giving all new graphics, perhaps tweaking the actual fighting system then just start advertising again. They could even change the name of the game, while all of us who have been playing will know that it is the same old game all along, but we will get to enjoy the new look. If they did try this, then im sure it would also burn out...unfortunately after that idea burnt out, id think that SE would probably just make a new MMORPG that had nothing 2 do with XI..but yeh thats my idea. Newho, i dun think XI is goin newhere for quite a while. If any of you have ever played Runescape, that game has been out like twice as long as xi. their graphics suck ass, and their community is still grownin.

I don't know, I've always loved this game. There's certain things that people consistantly complain about (forced grouping, for example), but those same things contribute greatly to some of my favorite things about the game (for example, forced grouping makes a better community, a sense of sharing the game with other people, a sense that you're part of something working towards the same goal). I guess part of my opinion on that stems from my main always being rdm. If I was always a Drg, I might think differently.

Basically, I would be really happy if the game was exactly the same, except different. I mean: new world, new jobs, new quests, new missions, new races etc. and a graphics update, but I'd want the core stuff like the game mechanics to stay basically the same.

God I hope they don't make another FFXI online game. I'm enjoying this one already. I'd hate to go out and buy an entire new system to play the new online game on. NO SE, this one is just fine.

well they already got fantasy earth and front mission online, aswell as FFXI and dirge of cerberus trought playonline, the other games they let trought it.

i`l be guessing that final fantasy XIII or XIV will be online again. maybe that next game video they showed is just a tease of what their working on, heck it will be very nice to see some surpise about that in e3, thougt before having to start again in new game, when i still need to finish cop and TOUA just got out, i will prefer some of thoose massive updates with new graphics engines and that kind of stuff some other mmo got. before even startr thinkin in starting fron scracth in a new ff mmo game
