I was never a big fan of Alla's community anyway, so I'm glad to see a common exodus away from there.

I've already replaced my Alla bookmark with FFXIOnline.com.

And as most people have stated, Forums are great for discussion mostly - there's various other resources around the web for item/quest databases that have always surpassed Alla as a resource.

Is here a good place to cry about my old post count?

This community here doesn't really care that much about post counts, just looking for the thought process behind a post. So basically if the info, suggestion, debate, etc.. has sound and logical points to it. Not big fans of people posting and just putting "I like cheese" or something really random. As you'll notice the ones that do tend to have a lot of trouble on this site.

In recognition of the new people coming in we are working on stuff to hopefully ease the transfer for new and old members. If you really want to cry about your post count here though the Off-Topics area should suit the need just fine. Even here should be fine since it's close to the threads topic. FFXIOnline.com original members probably won't really care about what post count you had though, heck I rarely ever look at mine here have no clue were it is at.

Post count is found by clicking your name and viewing your profile. Check mine occasionally b/c it made me laugh that about 6 or 7 months ago I went from posting once a week, to sometimes posting nearly 10 times in one day, depending on if I was at work and if there were a few threads that we were having good discussions in.
As far as it having any merit. Well, all it really shows is those of us who just troll around all day b/c work is boring, and this is how we kill time.

I figured this would be a reasonable place to stick an hello notice.

I'm an allah refugee, promted by the sellout but for many reasons. I've been lurking since the news came out and this seems a very pleasant place, which i hope to make home. I'll probably be a slow poster at first, but thats just my way.
