Say you get banned, can you ever play again?

Ok say you get banned on the ffxi account right? So you go out and buy another ffxi cd. You use the same credit card names and all. Will you be banned just because you have been banned on the other cd?

If you get perma-banned yeah. They can and will re-ban you if they find out you sidestepped their ban by buying another account. It's in the ToS. Not all bans are permanent though.

In any case, try not to get one.

If its anything like other online games they ban by IP as well as your reg keys.

Me banned? No. Along time ago i was almost banned. Atleast i dont think iver ever been banned. God Lord Jesus Christ only knows!

Tangential anecdote: My wife asked me the other day if a 72 hour ban really meant anything. It's just a slap on the wrist, right? Three days isn't that long. ... So I pointed out the chaos on some other forums caused by a 10 hour maintainence. The discussion ended. ^^

A lot of players that I know have been banned are back, as different characters.
(Not that I know them, I just know of them.)
Most people have more than one credit card, & IP addresses aren't a 100% sure way of knowing who someone is. So that isn't much of an issue. Although you will have to wait awhile before getting the same name back.

from what I read (mostly from alla) during the 36-72 suspension your account can still be reviewed. And many users found their account permanently closed when their suspensions are over.
Don't rely on this information too much tho.

Personally it feels like if you got banned on 1 account, you should still be able to open new account with new keys. Do they really go ahead and check for your name/credit card and not let you create new account?

For the most part, MMO companies do not ban IP addresses, unless they're doing a regional ban. (That way, say if the game is Korean, only Koreans can play.) Main stream MMOs do not ban IPs only because IPs can easily be changed. Hell, most AOL people don't even know their IP changes every time they log onto the internet.

As for making a new account, you could go for it. As far as I know, SE doesn't actively look at accounts to see if they match some other banned one. However, they will find out if you get a GM on you again. So, this means, you need to be on your best behavior.

LOL, so ifyou were banned then came back and wanted to be on good behavior. To play it safe i would stay away from HNMLS drama, never borrow/lend gil, never borrow/lend an item. Maintain high PT standards and be kind no matter what. The latter should be practiced by everyone but what can you do =/ =p
