He already said he was starting to enjoy it after giving it another shot and realizing he was spoiled by Elder Scrolls. :p read read read.

          Re: What the hell?

          Feeling young again sunny-boy?

There are always going to be people who buy +1 weapons, eating 50k foods, astral, cassies and capped skills and all.

The AH reflects that, people will pay 15k over for the same weapon you can buy from CP, walk to a shop, etc.

It's hard, and sometimes demoralizing, but the wonder you get going to a new town, trying to dodge man-eating tigers trying to get to Jeuno(brings back memories) makes up for it.

cystals, mining, logging, and CP are your income and source of equipments. CP equipment are good bang for a buck when gil is in short supply. Later though, you'll find out how extremely nice to have a large amount of CP. Supply quest a lot wil do you good earily on.

Graphics...what do you expect? MMO takes years to release, years to debug, and years to expand.

While FFxi need a good graphics/UI/programing update, I'm not holding my breath, because it will delay my new Job AFs and chocobo racing to be release.

EQ was craptacular in graphics, but it didn't stop people from enjoying it.

Aren't most 360 users keeping their beta accounts anyway? Shouldn't be that many fresh off the adventure boat players

I would feel bad for them getting eaten by the sandbat inside the tunnels in Valkrum, while I pop in my expensive sneak oil. But then I remember those days.

oh, and the game looks perfectly fine on my TV...even with the bad camera

if I could only remember to turn my flash off...

and keep in mind, this is a direct port from a 4 year old or so gaame. Doesn't look bad at all. Lighting is greatly improved.

            Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!

              Re: What the hell?

lol, talk about beating a thread to death with a wet noodle.

Anyway for Darkhound, many people when first playing an MMORPG it does take a bit of learning that the game isn't like an Action/Adventure one and definatly not like a normal RPG. Part of MMORPGs charm is that added community of people to interact with. If you don't like interacting with other people when you play then really no MMORPG is good for you, because at some point you will have to interact to improve your abilities further or explore more of the world.

As the point has already been made this was the OPs first MMORPG, he reacted very much like the first time I played an MMORPG. There play style is nothing like any other game and yet he was expecting it to be, big mistake which he's obviously starting to learn. A big point that the just didn't understand how the game play is like is when he pointed out people having bazaar items of 99,999,999 gil he didn't realize that this number was like a no sale/negotiating item. Basically the message before the actual bazaar the person would put in text requesting something in exchange for certain bazaar items or was just showing his stuff off.

Obviously someone mentioned that to him so he's seeing more how an MMORPG will play so he can get more to what is the meat and potatoes to actually complain about. The one about character selection has beaten to death though, the reason for the limited selection is mostly a two-fold deal. One part is Square-Enix like to try and add some uniqueness to their character creations then just the basics you'd find in any run of the mil game, though in the same irony their mob list often runs along the same run of the mil selection.

The other part is, I'm sure someone's already mentioned this, the game was first born with the PS2 in mind. So much of it's graphics and design was set to standards the PS2 can use, due to the PS2 limit in it's VRAM the character selection list had to remain small and this limit is even apparent as you travel the world noticing many mobs of different strength with identical models including the special mobs which the only difference is a slight size change. You'll even notice per zone the number of unique models that show up is limited.

I just want to know did you do much research before deciding to play?
As many have said FFXI has been out for 4 years now and info is all over the net.
Everything from movies to screenshots to guides. So its there if you wanted to look for it.
Before you play another session i'd suggest reading some info on the game.. and STAY FAR AWAY from Brady games guidebook..shudder

                it's suspicously horrible.

                    Re: What the hell?

Console RPG'ers always have a huge transition to make to the MMORPG world. Many quit before they even delve into the game. Getting to lvl 7 isn't squat in a game that caps at 75. They just need to stick with it, switch races or jobs or both and mess around until they find the nitch for them. There will still be many that will not like MMORPG's but in order to give it a fair shake you really have to put some effort into it.

Or, you could do what I said, and sell them for the most you can get. Then when you need crystals, go to the cheapest places and buy 'em. Still make money that way.

(I was selling Earth Crystals in Windurst for 900G and buying 'em for 200-300G in Sandoria.)

                              Re: What the hell?

one of themain reasons i always come back to ffxi is... carpal tunnel...

the keyboard/mouse set up of about ALL other mmo games is basicly the exact same in every game.. L2. WoW. EQ EQ2 lineage silkroad maple story. ect ect the list goes on

but its all the exact same WASD/arrow key and 1-10 hotkeys with the ability to shift up and down to nw bars ect ect ect blah blah blah

that setup always causes carpal tunnel on me after playing for not even 1 hour

                              FFXI uses a gamepad. PERFECTLY

its a joy to actually be able to sit and play a game for more then a hour without causeing myself severe pain in my hands and my back <from leaning over keyboard>

also to Kadenmire. yeah im sorry if i offended you with the "my eyes are bleeding" ect
you see. i speak in forums and in FFXI as i do to friends and family,, i joke around and i am very sarcastic.. its just my personality

if im joking with you its cause im cool with you.. its when im quiet is when i dont like someone

such as my joke thread to taskmage. i wouldnt have done that if i didnt like him

                              yet it was still locked.....

                              oh well

Tet, I think arcadia's original response was b/c he didn't think he had found the AH and was just checking bazaars. Thats what it sounded like to me anyway. I know I didn't know the AH existed for atleast the first day or two. Couldn't figure out how I was supposed to get by on 16 gil a pop from bat wings to an NPC.
