some informations are helpful I agree. But as a whole, no it's not a reliable source.
Go to the crafting forum and count how many threads yelling "SE NERF CRAFTING SKILL UP" or the like. everyone who had bad skill up streaks go there and post asking if SE changed their skill up code. Such stupidity.
On the other hand, there are a lot of posts by experienced crafters too which can be really helpful.

i think that back before they banned a few of their most prominent trolls, then yes, they had a lot of drama and flaming and false claims going on. but have any of you guys been on there recently? it's cleaned up.

OT: If you avoid Alla main board, real info/garbage ratio tends to go up a lot though. (RDM, Quest/Mission boards helped me a lot, if you know which posters to believe)

Noone has said that they hate everything alla. In fact on another thread several people said they really like the database that alla has. I think we can all admit that all does have good posters. In fact, they may actually have a larger percentage of intelligent posters, than the idiots everyone seems to notice. But when that smaller percentage of idiots seemingly takes over their boards and turns a large portion of the threads into flame wars and general trolling, then that is what gets noticed and remembered. When driving, you don't remember the guy in the lane next to you doing everything perfectly fine, you remember the jackass bouncing inbetween lanes nearly hitting several people while he hangs halfway out of his window screaming obscenities and making obscene gestures. If out of every 100 people you saw on the road did that, you would get the impression that the majority of the people in your town were idiots. Actually, its only a very small proportion, but that is the impression that sticks with you.
Also, one trolling post seems to attract more and more and more. Until you have the very thread jei linked to. I also didn't see anyone in this thread bashing any particular person. I don't think anyone is trying to suck their own "e-peen" by saying that it can be quite difficult to find accurate and reliable information, because of the small minority continually spouting b.s. and jumping to conclusions at the drop of a hat.
If I'm looking for an item, and it gives a little bit of information on somepage, I'll often look it up on alla for someone's in depth description on acquiring it. More often than not someone will ask a question and say something that is not entirely correct. When this happens, someone will usually start talking shit to them about how they messed up or asked an incredibly stupid question, yada, yada, yada. The first person then comes back and starts on a tirade about f*** them, they don't know anything, blah, blah, blah. It gets old fast, so unless I need to look on there for something, I generally try and avoid it.

Btw, I've also seen the largest number of threads title something like "Nerf X job now!". There is undeniably a LOT of complaining on those boards. More than I've seen on any other board including this one and KI. Asking for nerfs just frustrates me. Its like saying "No, dont improve me, just f*** them over."

However when someone opens that kind of thread here, people deal with it in a manner and the mods keep a lookout, i mean i dont remember having much of a problem here when RNG were altered, hmm atleast it didnt remain, else i'd remember it.

But if you did it on KI for example... holy jumping monkey jesus, i clearly remember it.

Because just like you said, "ill mannered" people stand out alot more.

Some jackass trolled in around June of last year and started a new thread (even though there was already a thread discussing it) and started spouting off how he was quitting the game and how screwed we were yada yada yada. The rest of the thread was people telling him to get lost and quit making stupid threads.
One that really pissed me off was right after Fan Festival when someone on the ranger forums in KI posted a thread saying BLM's were getting what they deserved, haha, etc. Bothers me how much some people enjoy other's loss.

we get troll threads and spam posts too. the diffrence between us and Alla is we have a BAHJILLION mods with itchy "lock thread NOW" fingers... Allah doesnt

rly in my opinion that takes away freedom of speach.. unless what you speak is in agreeance with what the mods speak
