The only time I have not seen my moogle in my mog house is if I have a Rent-a-Room in another nation and return home without setting my my house back up in my home nation.

Ah. You should have probably explained that in your OP then. Like Rodin said, you get your own personal moogle to take care of your mog house.

You can also not see your moogle if you're in a rent-a-room and send him to go check on your plants. You can still use the menu, but you don't see him.

Moogles will give all of your money you get for selling your items on your auction house, change your main job, your sub job (after completeing the quest), let you view your mog safe, your storage, your mog locker (unlocked in mission #2 of Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion). They also check on your plants and help you rearrange your furnature (if you have any).

Occasionally they ask you for some items if you have certain furniature in your house. Occasionally they give you items when you have some furniature in your house.

Oh! And they also spin around in circles when you want to change jobs. That's fun to watch.
