I've experienced it personally in WoW and someone else I know has had it happen in PlanetSide (and then fraps'd and posted on the forums as a hacker...). The fix in both cases was to crank the windows graphical acceleration slider down to half, enter the game, leave the game, put it back to full and go back to the game.

I've been asking everywhere and nobody has a solid answer (just vague guesses) why a spastic video card would interfere with position updates. The assumption is that the game is very dependant on the client (see: gold farming teleport hacks in WoW) and that something with the video is incorrectly (in a general sense) reporting location and the server is just saying "ok, thanks." instead of verifying as some games do.

    FIC AU13 (nvidia)
    6600gt 128mb (not overclocked)
athlon xp 2400 (both overclocked [166x12] and stock [133x15])
    crucial ram pc2700 1gb

all current drivers and directx. I don't remember it happening with my previous video card (9600pro 128) but it did happen with both sound cards (diamond mx300 and sblive24).

I'd say that the slider tweak would be the bandaid fix in need except that my friend and I always had to log out of the game to fix it. It never corrected speed on its own. Still, it's worth a shot.

And if anybody knows exactly why the slider dinking was the fix in our case, I'd love to hear it.
As far as the slider fix, my guess is because the game is depending on the video cards GPUs. The GPUs are 10x faster then a CPU, so my guess would be something with the driver not handling the GPUs right. After all the CPU which is suppose to be controlling it is being out run by the graphic unit, so location on the screen is just handed to the GPUs and being trusted. That helps the system handle loading the other info and reduces any noticable delays in graphics.

Yes, the graphics accelerator is a common problem that occurs in many games. Some games I have they refuse to work if have my graphics accelerator set to it's max I'm forced to cancel the accelerator(GPU not used at all) in order for some games to even run. Otherwise if I don't do that the game complains and creates problems.

On added though, this did bring up a situation I did forget about. When I had video card that was about to burn out, it's GPUs shot up like crazy. Maybe want to check to make sure the Video card is being properly ventelated?

Overclocking pushes the computer to a new limit yes, but it also means programs may not work as intended. It's a win/lose for that argument, some programs for fairness must be set to work as intended. Going back to the example someone else put can apply here also.

You see someone doing 120 (or whatever the max their car goes) and the speed limit is 45 you know the cops going to get you for it. Just because your pushing something to it's highest potential does not mean it's always alright to do.

I'm starting a contest for the longest run-on sentence. You would've been 3rd place, but were disqualified for the lack of even one punctuation mark to terminate the sentence. Sorry, better luck next time.

Its an exploit. I don't see how you don't understand that.
I never saw what you originally posted, I'm assuming it was a "How to" on overclocking your pc. In and of itself is fine, but considering the context of the thread in which it was posted it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out less than honest uses for it.

Lol, for a sweetkitty you sure do have an evil attitude. Kitty need a nice petting and some warm milk to calm her down?

                    More like a squirt bottle.

I wanted to, but making a thread of the specific purpose of making fun of other users seems like bad juju.

Funny thing is a squirt bottle never worked on my cat, she just clawed my leg in responce. My cat did have a spot just along her spine that calmed her along with the warm milk put her to sleep usually.

You probably needed a bigger bottle. Those airzooka things work wonders too.

I could see the leg scratching thing applying here, though.
