  • Two MMOs?

    Hey, everyone,

Here's the deal: I play FFXI once and a while and don't usually get to play for long amounts of time until weekends roll around. I won't really be able to party on weeknights, as I only have an hour or two to play between doing things...

I've also been thinking of taking up City of Heroes again. I used to play a while ago and think it'd be fun to re-start.

Now, I want to keep playing FFXI as I love the game and am wondering what your thoughts are on balancing two MMOs. Planning this, it'd be FFXI on weekends when I have more time to PT and goof around - then CoH on weeknights when I just want a quick game of something without being committed to something for longer than I can afford to be. Do you think it'd be viable? Is there anyone here that does the same? Basically, my reasoning is that if I'm going to play two, it'd be a casual-friendly one during the week and FFXI on weekends.

    Thanks,

From my personal experience..... you cant play 2 MMORGPS..... FFXI demands too much. I tried WoW and FFXI didnt work. But then agian. it was just me.

Like I say, I don't have enough time to properly play FFXI during the week as it is anyway...

            Re: Two MMOs?

I won't be able to play WoW again. I physically can't bring myself around to playing that game again. It's just.... no.

I figured City of Heroes (or Villains in my case) will be a nice change of pace during the week.

My schedule is one that I usually get home from work around 6:00-6:30pm. After I've made dinner, fed the cat, loaded the dishwasher, etc, I'm usually on the PC by 8:00. This gives me two to three hours of video gaming, depending on if I'm in the mood for it (I might just unwind in front of the TV instead ). Weekends are different because I do my house (or appartment) keeping, laundry and all that in the morning so I'm done by noon Saturday. This'll give me a day and a half to play some FFXI.

On the weeknights that I have the few hours, I'll CoH it up and on the weekends when I have the lump sum of free time, It'll be FFXI all up ins.

                Re: Two MMOs?

FFXI can be played "casually" till about level 40. After that, the time requirements for setting up a party, going to a location, etc become prohibitive. While IMHO it's completely possible to play 2 MMOs, you're really only going to get the full experience out of one playing one at a time.

                  Re: Two MMOs?

I personaly currently play FFXI and EvE-Online. I have no proublem ballanceing the 2 games mainly because EvE's leveling system is baised on real time. You set a skill to train (say for 2 days) and you dont have to worry about loging on while it is training. I get on a when ever I'm tirred of playing FFXI. Granted, FFXI takes up most of my time, but every once in a while I'll play EvE for days strait.

No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.
                  Rest of my sig

                    Re: Two MMOs?

Yeah, I tried Eve for a bit. Fun game and interesting experience, but I didn't want to stick with it. It came down to the fees being a lot for less than I thought they were worth. I enjoyed my time in it, but not enough to pay what the fees came to after exchange rates.

I'm going to give the two a try. I'll start with a timecard for City of Heroes and see how it goes for the first month, starting in May. if it seems like a good routine for me, I'll stick with having two going. If nothing else, it'll give me a second game to fall back on when I need a change of pace.

                    Thanks for the help, Amigos

                      Re: Two MMOs?

I played CoV for awhile and Anarchy online while playing ffxi. I dont log onto ffxi as much as I want but COV let me play for about an hour or so and get some exp. FFXI I can work on my pokemon if i dont have alot of free playtime.
two MMO's can work and you dont NEED to be 75, due to peer pressure or feelings of inadequetness from other players. FFXI can be played in hour spurts you just need to know when to schedule level up versus other activities. FFXI offers more than levelling.
As Atma said, about 40+ you can solo ALOT of quests, and work on your own pokemon and not worry about dying.
