  • SE lacks a bit of foresight

New jobs, and a quest that will encourage players to rape through their camps while they're trying to level leaving nothing behind but greyed enemy names.

Just starting out in FFXI? Yeah, you're f'ed for the next few weeks. Not going to be able to find mobs, much less the ones that drop stuff for subjob quests.

It's just a slaughter zone of people in AF one shotting everything in sight. My party is in this weird limbo where goblins are too hard, and crabs are too weak, so we've decided to kill whatever odd crab we find every five minutes.

But did SE realize that they are making it so difficult on lower level players to try and get there items, nevermind worrying about xp'ing to begin with. You say its the player's fault, and it is for being inconsiderate. But SE could have easily used different items from different mobs and just avoided making it an issue from the beginning.

Re: SE lacks a bit of foresight

There are four options to complete the quest, but even though the beginner list has more items, they're the easiest to get for people of all levels. Not a lot of people can solo coffer keys, and even though the garrison items droppers are easy enough for mid-level characters, they're scattered all over the world and the drops can be stubborn. Meanwhile, all the subjob items are available in two zones that are basically right next to eachother.

Yes, it is a bitch of a time to be level 18 with no sub right now. I agree that it was a bad idea to introduce this quest in a way that would make two of the most common exp mobs practically extinct in Valkurm. Then again, look on the bright side. Maybe this will force people to consider other leveling areas than Valkurm.

As I said in the blue mage forum, don't forget Buburimu. The crabs there are the same level as the ones in Valkurm, but they don't drop Crab Aprons so they should be relatively unmolested compared to dunes.

                Yea, Buburimu is a fantastic idea, but people never want to go there. Besides, the only reason I want to go there is for the AE heal, and that's being camped for saliva. ; ;

                  yea, what dirtyclown said....

wow... just try to imagine a pt of 6 say... lv. 40 characters trying to get items for the ferry pass. thats 18 rare.ex items. then factor in the drop rate. sometimes good sometimes bad. so lets say...40 crabs, 20 flies and 50 ghouls. If not more. take out 40 crabs in 5 minutes, how much left does that leave for normal xp pts? just about nothing.

this example is only for 1 pt of 6 that needs these items. considering everyone wanting to experince the new expansion asap, i bet bubu and valkrum are just waste lands of crabby exoskeletons, tattered fly remains and broken bones.

not everyone has a 75 job. theres still quite a few ppl in the mid lvls and they should be no less able to enjoy the expansion as well.

Don't forget you can get that in Tahrongi too. The only people that should be killing Dhalmels there are ignorant saliva hunters and Windurstian newbies that don't know to go to Valkurm.

If you can't get people to ride the ferry to other snips, maybe you can find a good camp for Gadflies in Pashhow or saplings in Ordelle. Not that I have any experience with those, but they're fairly soft targets in the right level range and area.

Maze of Shakrami and Korroloka Tunnel both trump Valkurm Dunes for level 12-20. I never set foot in Valkurm on either BLM or RDM jobs, and only for a short stint on BRD and WHM.

I feel bad for the Xbox 360 players coming in now though - until the furor dies down, getting a set of subjob items will be enormously frustrating.

I'm just glad I saved all those Coffer Keys (I could never do with dropping them, and I was too lazy to go out and look after I farmed) in addition to that RDM testimony I was saving up so that I could Chainspell Thunder 3 Maat after some Gear and Merit upgrades :-D (never got around to that either)

Ok, seriously, the only way they can get around some of the issues griped about is if they had a zone limit for the amount of people in it at one time or when they released the expansion they should have only made a certain amount of them available to limit the amount of new people/new jobs. Would either of those be acceptable? Nope, people would be griping about that too.

You add new jobs and open it up to a new market and your going to have a huge influx to the lower lvl areas, it's just common sense. For the veteran players this shouldn't be too much of an issue because they know of off beat areas where they can go to get exp. Leave the well travelled areas to the nubs. Or, for established players, we could just wait and let the herd thin out before deciding to lvl up a new job. Otherwise enjoy the masses of nubs and remember the day when you were one. You could really become a good influence on the new players and at the same time feel good about helping others. I really wish more people would feel that way.
