I was recently a beta user, and Sandy, Bastok, and Windy was always filled with people.

I log on last night just outside of Windy, and NOBODY is there! I realize most people were on their way to Aht Urhgan, but damn, there was nobody!

I carried over a full inventory of supplies to sell, knowing that the servers were way more expensive than the beta, but who will buy my stuff now?

There is definitely a rush to ToAU, but if you're looking for people to market to, Jeuno is the safest bet usually. Other nations, and particularly Windurst, are still important venues for some types of items, particularly Clothcrafting ingredients, and for whatever reason crystal prices in other nations are about twice those in Jeuno, at least for the cheap crystals (Water and Earth).

This advice is based on Midgardsormr, but many of the factors that bring these situations about are universal to FFXI.

I think also the activity in cities/low level areas will change once players unlock and start leveling COR, BLU, and PUP jobs.

lol, now that's funny.

The only thing selling at Jeuno in the beta was the Gausebait Grass, that is the only reason the people at the beta level would go there, for the chocobo quest. and that was it! I did farm it toward the end, and carried 18 of them over with me. Hopefully they will sell.

idk.. average number of ppl online on carbuncle when im online has raised from 1300-1500 to 1400-1600 thats like a WHOLE hundred more ppl..

i wish i could move to a high pop server. took me 3 weeks to pass lvl 27 with whm

oh well at least i got bst today.. no more lfg for me for a long while

Just so you guys know the price differences....on the beta, a lone fire crystal would sell for around 20 gil at the Windy AH. On the Ramuh server, the same fire crystal sells for 700 gil at the windy AH.

Unbelievable. Basically, I'm broke now, as the inflation is just amazingly high!

It's very unlikely that a significant portion of the Xbox 360 beta users would have developed any of the tougher fire-based crafting skills (Smithing and Goldsmithing) due to lack of materials, and only moderately likely that they'd have taken up the easiest craft, Cooking. Also, the available gil in the beta didn't have time to accumulate since everyone basically started from 0.

A price of 20g on a fire crystal indicates no demand - a price of 700g indicates a lot of demand. That's what you're looking at.

P.S. I should note I was in the North American FFXI Beta 3 years ago. The economy on Cactuar (the FFXI NA beta server) was identical to what you describe.

20g O.O, you may be broke now but once you start making money in this ecconomy is starts making sence to a degree, because while everything takes alot of gil to buy everything also sells for a lot of gil.

exactly, which is why I saved stack of crystals and other supplies to sell on these servers, instead of the beta. I knew it was coming, so I prepared. It is just jawdropping to see the prices so high, after I had seen them so low for three months.

I just hope it doesn't take long to sell all my stock, because I'm full and can't pick up any more drops!

Thing is, on the Beta, you were all stuffed on one server... now everyone that was (or at least, those that stayed) are now spread out among all of them. That and the regular population hanging out in the higher-level areas might make it seem dead.

But I always see plenty of people trudging around Bastok when I'm on.

if i had been on xbox beta ida stocked up on all the items i knew would sell for big gil for migration.. if youda bought like 100 stacks of fire crystals before u migrated your have like 500-700k gil right now and youd have onle spent like 2000g
