Xbox 360 Version Doesn't Work

Heads up guys. Gamestop in USA did a sameday delivery on FFXI so I got it earlier today. Rushed home from work to install and play it. Took an hour or so to install and when I try to log in it says "not active until April 19th"

Thought you guys would want to know before you get all excited like I did...

Woah, that's just mean. I mean you can't even just get started or use your existing account & character to play on the x-box version yet? I mean not to just visit the new expansion areas, but the old places?

Nope.. the "play" button on the FFXI screen is greyed out like servers are down... and the message reads "xbox 360 version goes live on April 19th"

Just mean...

SE warned about this for Aht Urhgan, but I had no idea that they weren't going live with the 360 version until tomorrow.

I bet I can understand SEs reason for it, when CoP came out some jerks did hack their way into the new zones they weren't suppose to be in yet. So this time SE seems to of been a lot more strick to prevent a repeat of that.

Well you can install the new expansion on PC i'd assume and they don't lock you out of that!

I thought they'd at least let me play with my main character =(

Anyone heard when I'll be able to use it? It just says "April 19th". So.... midnight tonight? ^^

You can install the PC version but the ToA stuff isn't active till the 19th. If I recall for this expansion when it goes active there will be like a small update that activates it. What I can think is probably some key parts of it they left out of the expansions that the PC and all are getting to ensure no one is in there early.

All I can guess in the XBox 360 case is it probably has the missing stuff so if you were to log in now on it you'd probably be able to get to areas you aren't suppose to be yet.

I did see some of the graphics over at fan festival, however, there wern't many people on the x-box version in lower jeuno. Let me know how the x-box 360 deals with massive amounts of people on the screen at once. On a scale of 1~10 how laggy do you feel it to be? (10 being the worst)

LS mate said there is a small (13k) update after install. I would -guess- (and this really is just a guess) that is the lock put into place that "Expires" on a certain day/time. Much like holiday events are put in place but go active later.

Haha I definitely will. I understand the content goes live at 11 or 12 ish EST tomorrow? Can anyone confirm/deny this?

well with beta vers there was no option to lower the graphic settings. HQ shadows, full everything seemed to be the default setting, so the game looked very pretty but in cities near AH the framerate would drop to about 20fps or less.. very disappointing

It seems it does the same as the PS2 but on a higher scale, when at Jeuno AH I couldnt see EVERYONE on screen at once, but the framerate never dropped lower than around 20ish FPS Ever.

The reason they're not letting you play is because of this 20hour Registration server maintenance. They're still working on transferring everyone from beta to their new servers. It's scheduled to end at 4am pst, 7am est today (the 19th)

I was sitting on the "ffxi screen" surfing the web on my laptop and the xbox auto refreshed at 9:50 am EST and changed from a ghosted out "play" button to an active "check version" button.

I'm patching now!!
