So i was in jeuno today just hanging out and i see some1 shout "XXXXXXX (name blocked cuz i dont wanna insult them, plus i cant remember it XD) stole my money, hey said hed trade 2 Snipers and a Emp.Pin for 4mil, but when i traded i found out they were just 2 leather rings and a insect wing" the first thing i think is "how dumb can you be not to look at the items before trading?" then i think "Thats really low of some to pray on a persons gullibility. So that made me think whats the lowest thing youv seen in this game?

    Which FF Character Are You?

And you, wich Final Fantasy character do you resemble?

Popular bazaar in my server a few months ago. Setting price of shihei at 5000gil *each* when the price was 8-9k/stack.

And yea, those shihei were sold. Quite often too.

That is just stupidity on the buyer's behalf... I mean, it gives you a little message saying "Buy 12 Shihei for 60000 gil?" If they click yes they are morons.

I'd have to say how stupid it is to enter into a trade for high praced items with someone you don't know from Adam, not check to see whats actually in the trade, then act like its all the other person's fault for being dishonest. I'm not saying the guy isn't a jerk, he is. In fact he's a giant a-hole. But don't try and get someone's pity for it. You were duped and they didn't even have to try. (Couldn't he just call a GM since they will now fix stuff like that?)

GM will just send you to Jormy for re-education as to what not to bother GMs with... XD

Seriously though I've heard reports of people being able to get GMs to enforce this stuff... but I have yet to see it in action or see a screenshot.

I think it comes down to whether or not the other person is stupid enough to say something like "OMG! I can't believe it worked! I just totally ripped this guy off and he baught it!" in thier chat log. Shows they meant to intentionally screw the other person over. Keep your mouth shut, what is a GM going to do?

the stupidest scam I've seen was from Maple Story...

A char will approach to trade you, to show his very expensive items. Saying they want you to hold on it for a bit to help him transfer to a new char.
Then, the char will want you to prove that you're not going to steal, by dropping your own expensive items to the ground. From a far enough distance the char will not be able to pick it up.

Of course they can with 3rd party apps.

And believe it or not for game like Maple story TONS of players fell for that -.-
Even worse, those people who fell for this trick are adults... being tricked by children.

Well, can't they check /tells too? Just look and see that they discussed selling X and X items for Y price. The trade was for Z items and now someone is pissed. Could probably tell pretty easily that someone got screwed. Whether or not it was intentional is inconsequential.

Incidental screwing of a player isn't against the acceptable use. Intentional is.

Its a very, very fine line to draw, but its the same sort of line that GMs had to use while dealing with claims of MPK. I mean, how did you -really- know if they didn't just accidentally die next to your party in the days of yore? They checked logs to find things like "ZOMG! I Just MPK'd these looser noobs!"

I thought they would set things right regardless, but would only punish the offender if it was intentional.

The worst thing I've seen is very close to the OP.

A few months ago a guy was shouting in jeuno that he was buying Speed Belt for 70mil. Then suddenly he was shouting in Jeuno that someone stole 70mil from him. A friend of mine /tell him to ask him wtf he's babbling about.

Turns out someone sold him the +2% haste belt that looks exactly like a speedbelt for 70mil gil. If you don't check the icon in a 70mil gil trade you suck at life imho.

I have had items from trade-scam returned to me by a GM.
If this ever happens to you, simply write down the time, zone, and name of the person who you traded with; you'll need this information when contacting a GM.
If you've got a friend that has no 'warnings' on his account, feel free to try it out with them.

I have a friend who got his money back from a GM in a similar situation, but I've also heard plenty of stories where the GM pulls a Dave and brings down the wrath for abusing the GM call system.
