  • ToAU Music

I was able to record some of the new ToAU music from the Vana'diel LiveCam while they were showing the new areas and whatnot. So, if anyone else missed it and would like to hear some of the new music, they can download it from the following links:

    Aht Urhgan

    Some new outside area...

Note: The quality isn't the best, but I tried. Also, you may hear the wind blowing a bit in one of the songs, but unfortunately, that was something that I couldn't prevent.

Just a shot of one of the new areas that I decided to throw into this post...

Someone got the ToAU disk a day early and posted all the new .bgw files on his site. I forget how to convert the .bgw files to something I can play with windows player. Anyone mind telling me how?

Anyways here is the link: http://www.theblackroses-ls.com/tekki/ToAU/
Also has pics of the new maps and some other stuff.

No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.

Those .bgw files are... odd. When I open them all I hear is static. I am able to listen to all the other FFXI .bgw files without a problem though.

Perhaps it is because of this...

Bet SE picked this compression on purpose to stop people from listening to the music outside of the game. Promathia battle music and end cutscene are like this already. Simply trying to open this file as if it was an ATRAC3 results in no help either.

That post was talking about the recent update, but that thread is talking about an update from a while ago... that's why it was closed. But I do believe the post I quoted is true because, again, all I heard was static when I tried to play those files.

ATRAC3 is suposedly a different type of codec that is not interchangeable with the .bgw codec. I'm not really sure if there is a way to listen to those files, but I know that the .bgw codec does not work. If anyone happens to know how to listen to these new ATRAC3 type files, then please let me know. I really want to listen to this new music.

Anyways, for information on how to listen to the other .bgw files check out this topic.

            Re: ToAU Music

Recorded the rest of the TOAU music that was previously posted. Its recorded off my soundcard, so the quality isn't topnotch, but its passable.

            Enjoy!

Very nice InterSlayer, works great except for -one- issue that I am concerned about:

Some of the tracks have a slurred, slower, lower tone playback rate. It's like when people used to play casette tapes super fast and everything was high pitch and ppl sounded like chipmunks. Well, opposite effect here, some tracks are slower and lower in tone- same concept though.

Is this a side-effect of whatever method you used?

                Re: ToAU Music

It was just a straight audio recording off what was being played. Kind of like if you are using Fraps to record in-game videos, and also recording sound.

Which track and time index are you specifically refering to? I dont really notice it, probably because my volume is lower than most people play music or I'm not using headphones

There's hope though...a TOAU sound track coming out in late May!

Promathia Battle Music is the most noticable one, but I think the Trailer Battle Theme and some others are also like this, and al zahbi town theme.

It's a side effect with using any kind of video/audio recording and FFXI. If it's using too much system resources it will "slow down" FFXI. When I made a video of the Chains of Promathia ending using FRAPs I had to speed the video up to match the music (which for me didn't slur or slow down, but the video did so you'd end up with the final cutscene with no music towards the end).

But thanks for doing the recording :D

P.S. pleeeaaassseee use FileFront next time

Since people have PM'd me about it, here's a link to the video I recorded of the final CoP cutscenes (includes the battle as well). It's 23 minutes long and weighs in at 370 MB.

                        Nice work on posting the music, big fan of the new Near Eastern music. Though, while listening to it, I feel like I'm playing FFXI instead of browsing this forum. >_>;

I finaly got to trying to download it and I'v been haveing a proublem. It will start of going very fast (200+ kb/s) for the first 10 min or so, then it will drop down to slow (50 kb/s) it will get to around 50% downloaded then stop and it will just sit there. The downloader thinks it has a connection but it does not download any more.

I'v had bad experience with filefrount for downloading. If you have the time, could you upload it to http://www.rapidshare.de/ I'v had good experience with them.
