    I personally don't think we'll see FFXI on the PS3. Maybe through the emulator but not through anything else. I suspect the FFXI "sequel" will be coming out in the next 2~ years though.

    But personally for me if it came down to anything I'm buying a revolution and will just play FFXI-2 on my PC.

      If there is a will there is a way, someone will figure out how to play FFXI on the PS3, trust me.

      As for the discs for the PS2 version, I have them in my hands right now and yes they are game discs.

      I'll be getting a PS3 release day. Funny thing is people griping about the price. You've known HOW LONG that the PS3 was coming out? If you had put a dollar a day away by denying yourself a couple cups of coffee or that Biggie Coke, you'd have the $$ for it. I put change in a jar and I had enough to buy the 360 and I'll have enough for the Revolution and the PS3 too. I started saving asap and I'll have enough for peripherals and games too!

            plus the 360 version is different from the other versions...its Hi Def!
            FFXI on the 360 in 1080i looks in all ways inferior to my PC running it at 1920x1200 with a background resolution of 1024x1024. Both are on a Dell 2405FPW Monitor. I was very disappointed when my friend brought over his 360.

            There is no noticable difference between 360 and PC besides draw distance. And it's not like there aren't ways to correct that issue anyway.

              I would really like a graphical upgrade for FFXI for PS3. Not just a port, but an actual overhaul like what was done for X360. Maybe even the option to adjust the resolution. That's my only issue with the PS2 version. You do a CTRL+e to pop up your equipment screen and it takes up the ENTIRE screen. If you're in an Alliance, the names of your Alliance members take up a quarter of the screen.

                There was no "overhaul" ^^ They ported the PC version and cranked up the terrain draw distance, that's it. I guess if you're coming from the PS2 version it's an "overhaul", but otherwise...

                  does 360 still have heat problem? I use PS2 for over night bazaar all the time I'm wondering if 360 will be able to do that without burning to ashes.

                    More power in the same size almost always results in more heat... I dunno, I wouldn't recommend leaving any console on overnight, really messes with them considering the drive is constantly spinning up. I wouldn't recommend it personally.

                      FYI, the average PC user doesn't run at 1920x1200. That is more for the hardcore. So when you lower the resolution, the graphics quality is quite similar.

                      Ya the entire overheating issue has fizzled. I have never had an issue with mine and my son and I have been playing a LOT of Oblivion lately too. He's on for a few hours and then I'm on for a few hours, then I have to make supper and he's back on....so back and forth, back and forth, much to my husbands dismay! Although I would not leave it on overnight, and I wouldn't even do that with my PS2. My son did with my original PS2 a few times and the last time he got up and it was off. He figured my husband had turned it off but found out soon that the unit was toast. Ticked me off too because I had to sleep on concrete to get that bugger!! LOL

                        I know, I was just using that example due to the fact that's basically close to 1080i, which is basically the standard for HDTVs.

                          Honestly i hope they dont make a PS3 version of the game, but still make it avaliable, through backwards compatibility, and perhaps the same fix they gave the XBOX, but without relaunching the game, aka by means of a patch or something.

                          I want the new MMO on the ps3 tho

                            yeah I run in 1200x676 at 720p (I use a 52" DLP HD TV) and my graphics card maxed out, and it looks the same if not better then the 360 :p

                              Also when u do buy the HDD for the PS2 it comes with the Game CD also and CoP you and buy on Game CD too. SO lets hope the PS3 users gets to play FFXI.

                                I am sure FFXI will be compatible with the PS3, but I dont see graphics being upgraded, well not at first anyway, not untill PS2 is phased out

                                besides who needs updated graphics, the game is fine like it is now
