I like this idea in all honesty, cause I think EU is also getting it on the 20th, it's all fair, and besides we got a spiffy fan festival last month that JP didn't, and got to know all there is pretty much to know about ToA weeks before them. And stores don't usually have shipments till a day after the release, or atleast in my town :X so doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Yeah, everything except a Euro-acknowledged server. This expansion is too little too late for me sadly. I cancelled my account and deleted my content IDs last weekend. Played since NA launch and spent the last two plus years struggling to enjoy even 50% of the game the NA and JP customers receive and I finally decided enough was enough.

the US do not have a server, noone does, all the servers are in Japan, I dont see what your problem is.

The latency between even our East coast players, vs. the people in Europe is probably significant. We're only 1/4 of the world away from Japan, Europe's on the opposite side. I'm sure they experience more lag and what-not, not to mention issues with claiming HNM's and such.

I still think that reasoning is BS, but to each his own. Anyone worth their salt in network engineering will know it's not significant (Location) Everything is about how many points are between you and the ISP. If your ISP is a major backbone distributor worldwide, you can't use latency as an issue, because it doesn't exist.

Even in Korea, I noticed that I had to hop a million fences before hitting anything in Japan. So there goes your "locale" reasoning.

Well, I'm guessing Australia also gets it on the 20th. But you have to remember. I'm like 15 hours ahead of America. So when it's the 20th here, it's late 18th- early 19th there. It doesn't matter that much does it?

I did not ask for a Euro only server, only a Euro-acknowledged one so please drop the, "Waaaahhh the NA's didn't get their own servers why should you?!" line, it's very old now.

There are tens of thousands of JP and NA players on FFXI and during peak hours each continent will have at least 2-4k players on per server during primetime. Now, compare that to Europe which falls in between these two timezones which in itself has a small fraction of that number of players and you find, on Fenrir at least, that you have a grand total of about six high level Euros playing at any one time. In short, forget about HNM, Sky, Dynamis, and any other event which involves requiring more than a party to complete. Experience points parties during the daytime, forget it, "JP Onry" for 99% of the time and you don't start receiving NA invites till 10pm. I've played ninja, paladin, and bard and with these high demand jobs I still found myself unable to party when I desired even after trying to make my own parties for over two years.

Try for a minute, if it isn't too hard, to imagine the impact of helping people with LB1s and AFs and various other quests for two years only to see the same people wandering around in AF2 on their second and sometimes third jobs while you've been able to attend Dynamis a grand total of three times in two and a half years. To watch people who have been playing the game a year less than you enjoying cutting edge content and wearing the best gear in the game as a reward. It wears fucking thin after a while I can tell you.

The point is, if S-E actually gave a shit about the Euro playerbase they'd tag a server as Euro-acknowledged, not Euro only, just a server where future Euros could go to at least have a chance of being able to form a LS with people who play on the same timezone and not be required to stay awake from midnight to 7am on weekends like I had to do for three months to complete CoP. They could even offer a one time character transfer to existing Euros who would like to move. Fact is, they don't really care as highlighted by the fact we are hit with every single update on Euro primetime and we are excluded or denied events the JP and NA players receive such as the Fan Festivals and Ballista Royales. Go take a look at the JP and NA PlayOnline sites and compare them to the European one and play spot the missing items.

Now, where is Wishmaster to come along and try and make light of a situation he has no understanding of.

I know there was quite a large Euro population on Leviathan while I was there.

I remember at one time, there were a group of spanish speaking players on Hades. However, whether or not they were actually "Spaniards" is another story. But you're right about having to deal with the whole time issue. However, it might be just better to encourage more Europeans to p/u the game. As it is, if I'm not wrong, I don't think this game got wide acceptance in Europe just yet (I know several EU players played out of novelty but quit after only 2 months...)

I also have a unique problem bordering on two time zones, but at least I manage to make enough JP friends to alleviate that fiasco (Reason why I wasn't able to get into any end game was because I couldn't make Ulli camp at ridiculous hours like 10 am EST which was when I was in bed already -.- )
