Re: New Aht Urhgan info from Famitsu

Metallic Body is crappy stoneskin. Whenever I'm in party I can almost never get Dispel off before the DDs break through it with damage.

      Taskmage:

All in all this is all SPECULATION. We do not know how this will turn out until we have played the job. Now, my real questions is.

Do we have to be in a town/moghouse to select what spells to use for blue mage?
      Or
Will we be sitting down via /heal in order to set up our spells?

I'm sure it would be quite broken to learn something like 1000 needles, use all your mp up, switch to Battery Charge, charge mp, switch back to 1000 needles with full mp. In the same fight.

Sure, sure. We don't even know if blu will be able to get Metallic Body, but I can say without speculation that it is crappy when mobs do it, pet or not. Crappy for them, not for you.

Also, if metallic body was low enough, it would be quite annoyingly powerful for a rdm/blu.

metallic body, stoneskin, phalax, blink. As if we need rdm's to be able to solo some more. What other abilities increase def at low levels?

            scissors guard and cocoon?

I don't think metallic body will stack with stoneskin since they both give same stoneskin effect. Like blink and utsusemi.

purely speculating from what was said at the fan festival and what they showed, i am guess that it will effect everyone in the party. My guess as to how it would work is that the COR will use said ability. This picks a random number from 1-6. This number corresponds to the position of a member in the party, like F1-F6 do. If the number is for the whm in the party, then the party will get Heal MP+. If it lands on the BLM, the party will get Magic ATTK+, etc.

Re: New Aht Urhgan info from Famitsu

                      You know, on Blue Gartr it has a list of all of the Blue Magic spells, and almot all of them had something that I just glanced across;

VIT+1 Gives enemies within range a powerful disease that prevents recovery of HP and MP.
                      Rot Gas, Dogs

HP-5 MP+5 Steals an enemy's HP. Ineffective against undead.
                      Blood Drain, from fat bats
Perhaps if you set those two as Blue Magic to be used, your stat growth is 1VIT, -5hp and +5mp?

I just thought they were effects of the spells themselves since I was just glancing over it >_> Would be quite interesting if you could select a new one each level for some pretty different builds (Mage heavy, melee heavy, or somewhere between). Doesn't sound terribly balanced in my opinion, as well as sounding fairly permanent.

It could just be while they have that spell "equipped" they get those bonuses. Sort of like equipment doesn't effect your stat growth overall, but only when they're equipped.

Re: New Aht Urhgan info from Famitsu

I don't fool around. The only reason I asked is because after I talked about this information, a JP member in my LS went out to check for the magazine and couldn't find any information about this article. It's Tuesday, so he checked the 7 April issue.

                          Also:
                          http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/jp/p_cat.../wfamitsu.html

Note absolutely no mention of a FFXI article on the main site itself, which doesn't help his searching.

He then checked the Dengeki site:
                          http://www.mediaworks.co.jp/magazine/game/ps1.php

Which actually says they have a FFXI article.

I'm not doubting the information, by the way. Just help him locate the article.

Edit: Corrected what he actually looked at. I'm suspecting his magazine store hasn't gotten the latest edition yet/ famitsu weekly hasn't updated its main site yet with the most recent issue.
I believe most sigs are like the people they represent - useless, loud and obnoxious.

Re: New Aht Urhgan info from Famitsu

This info is from Dengeki I believe, from the scans I've seen, the layout are all Dengeki, and also I can see Danchou(taru from Dengeki FFXI team) clearly in some scans... Well, minor detail.

Just a few corrections here and there:-
                              -COR-
Quick Draw of COR should be :Enhance the debuff that has been casted on monster, whether or not it's all casted debuffs, or just a random one, they didn't say.

                              -PUP-
I think it says, there are 12 attachment slots, plus Head and Body for the maton equip. Graphic of puppet/maton changes depending on Head and Body only, I believe.

The 3 types of Matons are: Melee type(I know it reads "White Soldier", but that just mean fighting in close range), Ranged type, and Magic type... which will be the attributes of the "gear" for maton.(More melee gears = more melee maton, I guess?)

                              -Missed out info?-
There is also a mention of a new monster, which can reflect blue and black magic I believe. Too lazy to translate the name, it will all be romaji, different from when it's in English anyway.

                              -Equip-
As for Beruan, I read the article too, but it says "Kenpo" not "Self defense", "Kenpo" means something like martial art(sorry couldn't be bothered to translate better), so possibly the long awaited MNK JSE.

I didn't bother reading the previous pages, sorry if this stuff has been posted already.
Not Ninnin on Remora - I made up this name, just didn't know that there is a Ninnin on Remora til after I made this name - Sorry

For BLU, there is a specific example in the mag.

Level 5 BLU has 10 setting points.
In the pic, he sets Power Attack and Footkick, which uses 3 of his 10 setting points.

                                HP60
                                MP62
                                STR 7
                                DEX 8
                                VIT 8
                                AGI 9
                                INT 11
                                MND 8
                                CHR 8

I know this doesn't mean much since the stats are so close to the race bases at this level, and I don't know what race the char is, but he has no sub!

The pic also shows that each blue magic has stats with it. Here's a full example:
"Tanemaki" [seed roll?] (Plantoid type: physical type)
Additional effect: VIT down TP: adjust speed of charging
                                CHR+1 HP+10
Lv4~ MP cost 9 Blue Magic points 3

You can change the setting anywhere you want - you select it from "Magic List -> Blue Magic". Sorry for not saying this earlier
