I doubt that highly. The only race of known pirates are the Mithra. It's possible for there to be Galka pirates, and there is. Just because there some Galka pirates and some Galka in the Navy, doesn't make them a race of sailors.

Thank you for both links. I'm going to check the ones spoilerfree because I just started again to play and I want to enjoy all the missions/quests while playing. I'll visit TGM site too because I already made some of the early missions and quests and don't remeber very well the story.

BRP makes a good point there are many things that are pointed out early on such as zilart and other stuff that are just as intesting.

About the galka sailor part i definetly remember something about them being masters of the sea. I forget which issue though but i remember that from a tribute.

BRP is right, there's so much information on the FFXI website that is incredibly informative yet does not ruin the main storylines. Particularly if you check out the info available on the areas in Vana'Diel from the main website.

What's interesting, though, is the fact that on the NA Vana'Diel Locations website ( http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/location/ ) there is no page that illustrates anything about Rise of the Zilart areas, other than a small pages saying that they introduced new jobs, areas, etc. The Japanese page ( http://www.playonline.com/ff11/location/ ) however has extra information about the areas in the Vollbow, Li'Telor, Qufim, Fauregandi and Valdeaunia regions that are not translated into English on the NA website.

Mark my words will we see more in the expansion about the land to the Far West.

As much as I wish you were right, I'd be shocked if we even get a look at the Far South with TOA.

Considering the scale they're trying to present for this new continent and the fact that the other compass directions have to be at least as large, I wouldn't expect the Far West coming for at least one more expansion.

Honestly, I bet we wont see it until the expansion after next, because right now we know nothing about the west other than it seems to be reasonable advanced in science and is somewhat America-like.

On the other hand, we have the North and South, which we know a couple concrete things:

North - Gigas home land on islands, Beastman Empire, Smilebringer home base.
South - Mithra Home Land, Island Chains, Manthra mutha fucka. (I don't like the term either, but I have a sense of humor)

After the Far East and the Near East, the Far South is referred to most concerning items, equipment, and storyline, so it would make sense that it would be presented next in the growth of Vana'diel.


Also, you have to consider the supposed direction of the expansion's storyline, which seems to be very much inward.
It's only concerned with their own immediate problems, and I doubt they'd bother with people on the other side of the world.

With the placement of the city and the fact that Odin seems to be around, I'd say we'll see the unveiling of the Near East, the Far East, and possibly the North.
IMO, the West and South will have their own expansion(s) due to the scale one would imagine from either of them: Large open space and a vast ocean with many island chains, respectively.


What I'd really like, and they'll probably do this without my asking, is to expand on the areas we already have.
Kuzotz is not complete until there's a fucking Giant(Jumbo) Cactuar.

..Also, there are a bunch of random, unused islands on the region map and a fair number of random, unused zone lines in some areas.

Anyhow, as much as I'd like more than one compass direction unlocked in TOA, it just doesn't seem likely at all with Aradjiah being only about as large as the last expansions.
I would hope they commit an entire expansion to each direction.

I believe they will make expansions for everything. By America, I mean 'new world'. You can see a piece of the Far West in Selbina on a map. CoP's main story had important characters from the Far West, Far South, and Far East. Its quests talked about the Near East and some of its locations talked about the Far North. It can go either way.

You run IE or Firefox? I know IE has the windows update option to d/l Japanese text. Not sure how you do it for Firefox.
