  • Chocobo races

    Hello and good morning everyone,

I was watching the news on my local news paper on theweb a few minutes ago, when firefox told me to update some plulgins. I proceeded to do that and found out that Vanadiel clock needed to be updated as well to I did that. To my surprise I found that on this update there are chocobo races added to the clock. Has anyone seen this? If so, I wonder where the developer got this information. The races has a time limit and a reward.

    For example:

Windrust --> Jeuno Time limit: 15:29 Reward: Windurst Woods Glyph!

Can anyone verify the authenticity of this? This is very intresting"

    Thanks
    DH

    Re: Chocobo races

Hmmmmm. Good find. If anyone can enlighten that'd be great. I know it's supposedly possible to get EXP scrolls from certain chocobo races but I've busted the record from Kazham -> SSG numerous times and have only received choco tickets. Be nice to know exactly how to go about getting something else.

EDIT: Found teh Glyph. Posted before I could do a search. Looks to be a teleportation scroll. More than likely from the time listed above, if you get from Windy to Jeuno in under that time, you'll acquire the Glyph. Gonna have to try this tonight.

If you do Bastok > Sandy or Sandy > Bastok and win you get a Dragon Chronical

If you do Windy > other starter city or other starter city > windy you get a Mimette(sp) Memoirs.

Both of those are the exp scrolls you can get

Doing any starting city > Jeuno will get you a gate glyph that will tele you to the zone you started in.

Define "Win" if you will. Does winning entail beating the current record holder or just arriving under a set time?

From experiance mainly, I do sandy/bastok runs all the time and always get the scroll. I usuallt don't bother with the jeuno runs, but the few times I did I got the Glyph. Though I still have yet to win the sandy/bastok > Windy ones though, I know from others you get the good exp scroll.

And by 'win' I mean make it there under a set amount of time. Getting the record doesn't give you anything extra. Like BCNMs, the records get reset after every update.

                Re: Chocobo races

If I remember correctly, to go from sandy-> bastok & vice versa, you have to do it in under 12 min. (correct me if I'm wrong)To go from one of them to Windy, you have to do it in under 30 min, and from any of them to jeuno is under 20 min.

Like Ziero said earlier, you get XP items for doing town to town in the time limits, and the glyph for town to jeuno. You get some random kinda stupid item if you dont finish in the time limit.

It's a good way to get a tiny bit of 0 XP if you're not in mood to pt at that time.

                      Re: Chocobo races

The sandy/bastok ones I can usually do in 17-19 minutes depending on lag and mob placements (things seem to want to walk right into you when you're in a hurry) and I usually get the scrolls. Shortest time I've ever seen in the records was 16 and change. As for the Windy one, well lets just say I hate meritiphaud. I gotta spend the day there figuring out all the decent shotcuts or somethin, that place always kills my time. =/

I've never been able to do Windy-Bastok. I always get kicked off in South Gusta. I have to assume the major hangup is Meriphitaud because that place is just a mess, but there might also be a shorter way through Sauromugue or Rolanberry I haven't found.

There's two types of winning. One is just making it to the destination. The other is making it under a time limit. This has nothing to do with what another PC might do. Another PC might have run a race of 18 min on a 20 min time limit, but just because you got in at 18 min 2 seconds does not mean you've "lost" the race.

As for the Kazham > SSG, if you've only gotten tickets, then either (a) That is the prize or (b) you're still slower than the time limit that was imposed (regardless if you've "smashed" another player's mark for that day)

I can guarantee there is no faster way than the route I take from Kazham to SSG. I spent a week mapping it out cuz I thought I could get the exp scroll. lol
