Re: A noble, but vain, sacrifice

don't think it has much to do with elemental properties as it has to do with the effect of the song itself.
It has everything to do with element. Undead are highly resistent to dark magic. Sleep is dark and they are immune. Lullaby is light. Light resistent mobs are typically highly resistent to if not immune to lullaby. There are many enemies lullaby does not work on. No, you can't sleep most hnms even with 2hour.

HORDE LULLABY suggests one thing: sleep that works on mobs. Period.

Add BRD's 2HR to this and maybe you can get even HNMs to sleep (Anyone ever tested this on Vrtra? )

      Sorry couldn't resist ...

well, im not sure about the elemental properties but what rones says does make sense. however, i wasnt making that point i was just merely trying to make the distinction between the 2 spell/songs. one thats magic and one thats a song.

Umm ... that is totally off base there. Horde Lullaby works with all mobs (exp anyway) from my own experience. So in other words, your argument holds very little water.

What element are sleep bolts? I know they work on shadows, b/c thats the strategy for taking down Eastern Shadow for the E-bow when you're lvl 60. Spam sleep bolts until he's dead.

And how many light based enemies have you exped on? Try landing lullaby or foe requim on the Aura Statues in Shrine of Ru'Avitau (or any golem), they are light based and you'll be lucky to land one light based song (if its even possible). Even with 2hour I can not lullaby them. You just don't notice it because we don't exp on light enemies usually. If you are really so confident, go try to sleep a light elemental in ru'an gardens. Easy way to figure out what will resist lullaby is if it drops light crystals.

There is no debate going on about which is better or worse. It is simply a matter of correcting misconceptions people have about a couple spells.

I'm just curious, has anyone ever tried casting one of the cure spells on skeletons before? One time I was partied up with a group in Shakhrami Maze and one of the WHMs would cast Cure on the skeletons there to help combat them. Considering they are resistant to dark magic, wouldn't that be a possiblity? How effective is that tactic, out of curiousity?

It does hurt them, but ever since the Banish line of spells was adjusted to cost less and deal more damage to undead, they're more efficient damage for your mp. Curing tough undead is a good way to get healing magic skillups if you're having trouble keeping it capped though.

Cure V mb. nice. Yeah, if you've played the previous final fantasy games, you'll know that undead creatures are weak to healing/light spells. This may sound like a stupid question, but is it possible to cast raise on a skeleton?

Interesting. I take it there's a fair chance of getting resisted? It would seem likely so, otherwise high-level whm's can solo them.

Gauranteed no resists. Works really well on elemental farming in sky.

Hold on, there seems to be something coming out of my ears, ah yes, its the same stuff I'm shoveling.

EDIT: Just realized the elemental farming wouldn't make sense unless they were dark elementals....and I don't think there is dark weather in sky. I'm gonna have to put more thought into my bull crappery next time.
