I'm not going to make any accusations here, just that something was very weird in Ru'Lude tonight.

I will post some screenshots and a video clip I made while observing this "incident." It involves a ton of "fails to activate message" followed by this PC slowly running into the AH wall and then the message ceases, but the animation of this PC continues (It is of someone trying to use an item)

Looking at the AH history, this person in question seems to be selling the items and a lot of it. Also, this PC logged immediately afterwards. Looks like someone's level 1 mule.

Very...strange.

I read about a dupe exploit from lag on KI a few years ago. I think SE should have fixed it already.

I'm not sure I understand w/o seeing the vid, but it sounds kinda like they were on auto-run and maybe botting the item activation so that it would never work. Iono...

The images are of the messages I saw when player was failing to use the item (The whole thing looked strange and I was only able to start capturing the video as the player hit the wall of the AH)

It's a ninja tool (bag) that the player was using. Second image shows you this person's AH history. Third image is said person logging out after he/she noticed that I was watching him/her.

Now, what do you guys think? I won't say that this is a duping technique or attempt, but it does seem very strange and suspect. Too much circumstantial evidence is found in the screenshots and the clip. I really don't know what to think of it myself.

If I recall correctly, I know a couple of people who have tried a duping method before, and couldn't get it to work. I proceeded by murdering them for being stupid.

After the whole Bazaar fiasco a few months back, I wouldn't doubt it.

If this is a duping incident, this person isn't doing a very good job of trying to hide what they are doing. However, it is also quite a tedious way of making money, since that ninja tool is only being sold at 40K. But, because of the seeming high turnover, I guess it is steady income if this person has more than one mule doing this for other ninja tools as well. I'm going to check the other tools and see if there's some kind of pattern of... monopolization here.

I don't quite understand what the "method" is. You definately see her using something over and over again but there is no record of it in the chat box. I guess it would be more conclusive if we had seen a long vid of it. You really would have to count how many times she used the toolbag against how many times the chat log recorded it. But then it begs to differ, why use a toolbag over and over and over?? Quite interesting since I've never listened to chatter about duping in game before. I don't advocate it nor would I participate in it so it really holds little interest to me but is nonetheless interesting.

Just tried this, and while it DOES say 'Failed to activate' in chat log, when the animation plays, the item is, indeed, used... lag might change that, though. There are third-party apps that flood you and cause massive ammounts of lag... people used that for duping via delivery box before, so this is always a possibility...

And it's especially suspicious with this type of item.

You can't see the chat log from the vid? Notice that my screenshot shows where the chat log stopped recording the action. Then note in the vid that she is constantly spamming this action over and over again, but the chat log cease to record the action. My guess is that she finally stops when her inventory got "full."

Your not understanding my point. Lag can cause you not to see the chat appear for a while. Your vid is very short. If the video were longer like from the start of her doing it with all of the the "failed to activate's" in the picture showing in the video, it would be easier to see what your implying. But it still doesn't give me the method of the duping. You run and use an item over and over and over and it dupes it? Thats all I'm getting out of this. Seems too simple. I run along using Utsusemi all the time which says that it fails to activate so does this same method work for that? Totally confused by the entire thing. Like I said if the video had been longer it may have been clearer as to what is actually going on.
