    What's bizarre is the fact that the Japanese players decided to use 釣り to indicate pulling a monster. I guess the action is similar, ie going out and attempting to pull something out of its environment to kill & eat. But still there's lots of in-game terminology that the Japanese use which is different to the NA word.
    The puller in our party had this macro (JP player, but he has very good english, probably because he majored in English)

    /party <t> ! (‘д’)9 1kill now!!/2eat!/3wait<call14>

      On the topic of pulling macros, what are the preferred things for JP to see in them?
      I think I currently have "{Ranged Attack} <t> <call>", I've always thought it made plenty of sense, but I've seen a lot more people using {Fishing} <t> lately. Is one preferred over the other?

        I think either one would be understood. That's really the important thing.

          What is key as a puller, regardless if this is NA or JP party, is for you to have the necessary information as a melee and not just as a puller.

          A standard pull macro will have this /party message:

          /party {Ranged Attack} => <t> | TP: <tp> | <call21>

          /party {Ranged Attack} => Tavnazian Ram | TP: 141% | <call21>

          You can also have a separate macro and have a "ask before pulling" message.

          /party {Fishing} => <t> | {Ready!}? | <call21>

          /party {Fishing} => Tavnazian Ram | {Ready!}? | <call21>

          and if they're JP, most of the time they'll say, OK or {No thanks} which is close to saying "I'm not ready" as you'll ever get with autotranslate.

          Using these macros, you'll have no problems in EU, NA or JP parties. I hate it when other players use silly macros with garbage in them, since it gets annoying after a while. Something like ...

          /party May the holy light of Apris guide my arrow to your doom!
          /wait 1
          /party Pulling <t>! Feel my wrath ... rawr1111 <call>
          /wait 1
          /party Ba-koom! Take that you slithering slime ball!

          Now, imagine this being spammed because the monster moved out of range ... you know, like them provoke spam over and over again ... but 3x wordier.

            Yes, and then they use that same macro every time they pull their bow out between swings.

            I had a whm once with a macro like that for every cure spell.
            Stop your whining <t> it's only a scratch {Cure}

              I have a macro for
              /range <t>
              and
              /p <my pull macro>
              next to each other so when i want to shoot I just use the same macro and just add the pull alert if it's a pull.

                I'm a fan of only using chats in emotes when it's necessary. A TP report macro that says what WS I'm using (and even the order, if I'm on SAM and skillchaining with two people), a pulling macro, and simple macros for WSes.

                Quoted for emphesis. >_>a It's good to have a TP report on your pulling macro. You may as well, since you're saying something in party chat in the macro anyway.

                Edit - because people posted while I was writing:

                I ended up disabling ctrl + D, since I use things I'd rather not accidentally toss on some of my jobs. So I have a ranged attack macro where the entire macro is "/ra <t>". As well as a pulling macro with "/ra <t>" on it.

                Also, whenever I'm not exping a job where I use ranged attacks on, I remove the "/ra <t>" lines from my macros, so I don't accidentally switch macro sets while fighting and throw something.

                  Re: japanese pov - PT play and invites.

                  After lvling both Thf and War I spent a lot of time pulling, but I never actually made a pull macro. I have a tp report and a ranged attack macro, but when I pull I just type out 'incoming' or AT 'fishing <t>' and never had a problem.

                  Also, <calls> in macros are highly annoying imo, worse then any long winded RPish emote. If you need to make a sound so your pt knows theres a mob on the way you're pt is in for some serious trouble.

                  In my last pt, half JP half NA, our Drk puller didn't have a pull macro either. Yet we were just chewin up the mobs with very little trouble. Chain 5 for 242 exp with no ring on means you're doing something right.

                      Yeah, after turning off the ingame music and turning on itunes while I play I've realized how annoying <call> is. I think I'll be switching to <call14>.

                        I prefer <call21>. It's got a soothing "Sproing" sound.
