What do you want from the new expansion?

  • What do you want from the new expansion?

    I've just been wondering, what does everyone want from the new expansion? From the way it's been going, SE has been making a lot of improvements, but what would you like to see? And please make it reasonable, not something like a STR+100 Belt.

    1) I'd like to see one or two more recipes to get clothcraft to 100 that doesn't have ingredients that are a pain in the ass to get.

    2) I'd like to see ???'s that would pop ground NMs like Behemoth, Fafnir, and Adamantoise. Which would require items to pop, and could randomly pop King Behemoth, Niddhogg, and Aspidochelone.

    3) Nomad Moogles in Mhaura and Selbina.

    4) More escort quests.

    5) More XP grounds for 60 to 75.

    Multi-hit weapons for lower levels ^^

    The multi-hit weapons should be a little less rare, its just hella fun to see people hitting 2-3 times :D

      So we can have 1,000 level 100 clothcrafters in the game? Nah, I think the whole reason why they make it so difficult to get 100, is so they make it really worthwhile for those that make it to this level.

      This might be a lot better than waiting 21-24 hours per spawn and not even getting a chance to fight the mob due to some asshat with a provoke bot like *******. Also would make it easier and challenging for a LS to participate in something without wasting their time. I would recommend this for Shikigami weapon as well.

      Agreed, though the balance would shift in that a lot of high leveles would hang out here, and power level all the n00bs, and the n00bs wouldn't learn anything about how to play their jobs.

      How about not giving crap gil for an award, but instead give xp as a award for doing quests? (non repeatable quests) This would give me more incentitive to do these lame quests that they hand out besides turning stuff in for FAME.

      Agreed, having to go to KRT or SKY to fight for exp is getting old. Can't really do Kuftal Tunnel without a whm or nin. 1 party in main entrance of sky can get up to Chain #149 dual ninja's dual bards rdm and blm. Kinda kills the point of leveling other jobs if these jobs can do such a good job at killing everything there.

        Actually Omni, the difficulty of clothcraft isn't getting from 98-100. The difficulty is getting from 60-80. The Silk Road is just horrible, and when you break something with the rainbow threads, it's a horrible loss. It's almost impossible to get from 99-100. You can synth Rasetsu tekko from 98-99, but to get to 100, you have to synth either Cursed Dalmaticas (about 16mil a synth on my server), Errant Capes (25mil a synth, and rare ass item that drops from Capricous Cassie), or Blessed Briault. Briaults aren't bad to synth, it's just that Galateia is rare, and everybody who's doing clothcraft to 100 is buying it up almost the SECOND they're put on AH.

        I agree with Balfree, not only would these weapons help parties, they'd make skilling up a less painful process. >_<

          I simply would like more areas for 75+ xp. Sky is always packed and the xp is not even that great!

            I love Rodin's proposals, but let's not just talk about clothcrafting. There's other crafts with their issues as well, particularly in bonecrafting. Too much gil seller monopolization as well as the rarity of some items is just insane. I can see where Omni is coming from, saying that this makes it all the more worthwhile when you get a craft to 100, but it's lame that you have to rely on the "generousity" of an HNMLS to do so. In most cases, this is akin to "sleeping" with the HNMLS leader to garner such favors, which to me is stupid to begin with and makes you question just how "worthwhile" that level 100 in a craft really is.



            Anyway, having nomads in town might be cool, but having signet guards might be cooler. I think lower levels should be forgiven a bit more and this should cut the whining about having gils (Because exp outings can drop massive amounts of gils -- as I can attest to when everyone in party has signet on -- I've seen as much as 1-2 stacks of fire crystals for each player in just two hours of partying in Yhoator Jungle strictly off of Goblin Smithies) Plus, CP is important and I think that with CP, players get that much more options in equipping themselves decently without having to depend on the AH to do so. Remember, at lower levels players are mostly lower ranked and thus signet cast in town usually wears by the time they get a party after walking all that way to those exp areas.

            Some practical "I wish" for the list...
            • Add an option to "refine" existing AF through multi-quests for each job class. For example, there is currently a way to make HQ of the AF sets, however it's not truly accessible to most players and only those that are in rich and powerful HNMLS groups will obtain these upgrades. This is just not fair to everyone else in this game. Thus, I propose SE add in quests, which can be a series of quests (Like the three parts in the Paladin Flag quest) and that each quest will not require a Dynamis run or something out of reach of average players. The quests can be tied to the job class, thus a true extension of the AF storylines and this will increase many ways in which players can spend their time in the game while they LFP or what have you. This is just a framework proposal, you can add in your own two cents on what the content should be like, but it should always be accessible to all players. I think having the ability to choose your stats on the AF pieces (Like Meripo on your character's base stat) through some kind of point or fame system through these quests might be a good start. Sure, the questing may take hours if not days to accomplish, but if it can be done with a small party or individually, then I think it's worth it. Tie this in with the Adventuring Fellow series and you've got a whole new expansion in itself.
            • Fix the fishing system. It's broken, I'm sorry. Even less skillups than before nerf when SE has promised that you would see more skillups (I was able to get from 1 in fishing to 25 three weeks of casual fishing and it has taken a month of FISHING ON END just to get from 25 to 33, using guides and all that jazz). Worse of all are botters that were able to figure out how to cheat the system. GG, GJ SE. Any change to fishing seems to only make it worse, not better.

            I have a few more ideas, but I need to think them through first.

              Im really hoping that assault and some of the other new forms of mission/quests will allow small groups of non-optimal jobs to have fun together AND get a chance for decent exp and items. I just hope there are a fair number of them or at least allow us to repeat them more than two or three times a week, hell even limiting it to once a day would be fine just so me and my friends could do something other than grind out exp.

You can exp in cap areas of COP and still gain exp on your main (So, you can enter at 74 in a 40-cap area and exp tons there and actually hit 75 there) Still need to complete a few of the COP missions first, but I'm surprised that many of the players who got Sea Access don't know this (I see them trying to overcrowd Bibiki Bay like everyone else)

                  However, most people ... well, let's just say that too many people are sheep and will only do what everyone else is doing.

                    I was in the tower to go towards the shrouded maw (40 capped area), and fought a Tough enemy. At the end of the battle, we got 25 exp for killing it.

                    Now tell me... what new area to grind out exp? I can solo decent challenge that would give me more exp than that crap. (This maybe a glitch and may need to be reported as not giving the correct amount of exp for a level 40 experience point party there.)

                    Maybe the "sheep" actually have something there, and the reason sky or other well known places have fairly decent exp is because it is a tried and true method of gaining exp.

                      Every area has different level range of monsters. You should know that if you've been to all these areas already.

                      The only capped areas I know about that is actually a "capped" area afaik are the ones that are labeled as such. Areas where you can only enter due to storyline do not count. Areas you can come and go as you please before or after the mission is what I'm talking about.

                      Example of a capped 40 area:

                      As you can see, with monsters as high as level 50, which are IT+ to anyone capped at 40, this allows for exp. Meripo'd players find it a lot easier to just plow through much of these mobs, even when they're IT @ 40 than it is outside of these capped areas.

                      To a level 40 player, a low IT is at least 6 levels above him. That's a level 46 monster. 46-50 monsters can be found in abundance, depending on what areas of a dungeon you're in. This should be fact for anyone who's been playing this game for a while.

                      It's probably because these "sheep" are just wanna-bes that don't have the skill of the original FFXI players who've long ago since quit this game for other pursuits in life. =/ That's what I miss about those players. It's the whole adventuring spirit and trying to do something that no one else has done before them.


                      Need to say why capped area has a bigger advantage than anywhere else. It's because it's similar to exp as a 75, except that you have ITs and not just Ts to level off of. You can go from 40 to 75 in a cap 40 area if you wish. No matter how much you keep leveling, because you're capped at 40, those monsters will still remain IT.

                        How about more areas to exp in period, regardless of your level?

                        It's pretty boring fighting in the same damn places. Sure, your job is different, therefore giving you a slightly different perspective, but I'm sure i'm not the only one tired of going the same old exp route.

                        Valkurm>Qufim>Yuhtunga>Yhoator>Garlaige>Crawler's Nest etc.

                        Along with new zones, I hope the expansion adds a more diverse variety of mobs to fight! It's pointless to give us new areas if we're still stuck fighting Crawlers, Beetles, and Crabs. I'd appreciate more vicious looking monsters, which looking at the images on the ToA site, looks like SE is going to deliver.
