Finally unsubbed from FFXI after spending the last 2 months playing it off and on due to Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR holding my interest and generally actually being fun while FFXI really has not..

It's just too inaccesable if you haven't been playing Abyssea continuously from the start. There's simply not enough people playing in EU prime time on Valefor to make it worth the subscription fee to me as staying up until 2-4am to get anything done is not my idea of a fun game. I wasn't at the point where I was self sufficient and I doubt I will ever get there and TBH, I was just pissing away a tenner a month to chat with people I already have on Skype anyway. I keep trying to play and keep trying to form my own groups, good luck when all the JPs are in bed and all the Americans at work leaving all 3 of the EU players on Valefor walking around like Will SMith in I Am Legend, but I run into the following issues:

1) The only jobs I like playing are WHM, THF and NIN and everyone has those levelled so you're not needed half of the time.
2) The community on Valefor is at the point where even WoW is looking less like the arse end of the MMO community.
3) Apparently I'm a "Gimp WHM" or "Gimp THF" for not already having the gear I'm trying to form seal farming or NM farming groups to actually fucking OBTAIN.

Blinkers Nerf was the final nail in the coffin really. I didn't have millions saved from back in CoP and I don't have any Dynamis Partners or any crafts levelled to the point where you can actually make some money off it. With no way to actually fun power levelling a craft due to the only profitable synths being held in a virtual monopoly by RMTs and Endgame shells, there is just no way to even attempt to compete on the AH without losing everything. RMTs and the endgame guys with millions in the bank can afford to run down the prices of Synths until people give up, then jack up the prices to what they want and not even blink at the losses.

I still love FFXI and really which I could be unsubbing for more pleasant reasons but "right not the game is not fun whatsoever and I'm sick of being forced to play solo and/or waiting until 2-4am while in the mean time doing nothing but /shouting in Jeuno, just so I can get to the point where I can solo content myself to not have to put up with this shit"

I have no idea how you managed to last as long as you did. Being in EU time zone really seems to make the game that much harder to participate in.

Blinkers were a necessary evil as people were using it to literally cap their gil, but they should have nipped that in the bud years ago because now it's just a kick in the balls to people who were just using it as day-to-day spending money.

Had a crazy productive night yesterday. Was quite pleased.

Cleared Adjunct Path in Meeble (as squiggs mentioned).
Obtained Sabong Earring, as well as access to Cheruski Needle (decent piece)
Got 30th merit (still need some WS and Stats)
Finished off last 2 Shoggoths
Finished off all 6 Farracua Flys
Got 4/8 on Chesmas till my colorful actually changed to grey.

Couple more Chesmas and some hardcore focus on the last 22 Chloris Buds and I’ll have my 85 Vereth

Thanks to the blinke nerf, I'm actually able to profit from Brewing for people again. Ilogged on for a bit today to flag the Meeble Burrows event, change some stuff on the AH and re-organize my MH stuffs.

After that was all set, I shouted in Jeuno for a few minutes:

Within a few minutes I had a bite and killed 8 Dragua's in a row for someone's +2 equipment. The whole thing took me about 45 minutes and I made 800k at the loss of 200k Cruor. A 1/4 exchange rate is better than what I was getting from blinkers anyway. If this keeps up, business could be good while simultaniously giving me an excuse to dig out Corsair.

I have no complaints.

Currently sitting on 2.5million in the bank and 1.5 million worth of stuff to slowly sell on the AH. In addition I have another 400k Cruor to burn on Merc Brewing. All of those things combined, along with the occasional Dynamis run and crafting on the side, I'm profiting rather nicely since the cruor collapse of 2012.

8 off 1 brew? very nice. think im coming in at 5 with a little time to spare. Gear can still use some tweaks though.

I squeezed out 9 once. But I only got Fireshot off before the brew wore... so still a decent chunck of HP were knocked off.

I have something like +40MaB on my COR gear/Vulcan Staff... with Atma of the Ultimate / Beyond / something with fire potency+ on it. I go as COR/RDM, pop my Magic Potency Temp item, Roll for MaB and wait.

Pop Brew ---> Lock on the Martello ---> They pop and pull to me ---> They TH and Yellow it ---> I unlock from Martello ---> Fire Shot --->20k Damage + Wildfire 95k Damage = 115k Damage = Dead Dragon.

Rinse, Repeat.

Psst, brew mercing only works if you were one of the people that already had the full Abyssea clear.

Still, 8 from 1 brew is pretty damn nice.

After months of talking about it, I finally made the move to Cerberus. Upon arrival, I met up with Romy and we headed to Limbus - Temenos North to try our hand at duoing the zone together. We made it as far as floor 4 before Romy went down without RR up and was forced to zone. I continued on to Floor 7 and there was nothing I could do to take on 5 Goblin Mages at once. I couldnt even rely on RR to take out one at a time (zerg style). One of them was almost always casting an Aga that would rip off my shadows and leave me open for 3-4 Tier IV Spells from the others. I rode my Utsusemi timers as best I could and took full advantage of Mijin... but it didnt help.

Still, I walked out with 19 ABCs as well as a Glittering Yarn (SMN) and Silkworm Thread (COR) for AF+1 upgrades.

I got to meet some of the LS briefly as well. So far I'm liking it here. We'll see what the next week brings and I'll report my findings to Hayde for review to help him decide if the move is right for him as well.

Sadly... I left my token at home today and won't be able to log in like I wanted to (shit...). Tomorrow will be different.

Peeve: I forgot to take stuff out of my AH sales before making the jump and ended up losing about 150k worth of Gugrusaurus I had on the market at the time. thankfully I have about 37 miore to sell... and the market on Cerberus is WAY better for their sales than Valefor was (30k each as opposed to 20k each). Hopefully that will make up the difference in what I lost.
