Well managed to get escape off a banchee and its on AH for 40k not bad for a quick 2 minute fight

i do this on kaggen runs. Waiting for people to gather i get Tractor and Escape off the wights/banshees.
i've made 100k before just waiting for peeps to show up.

Time Remaining in current process: 3 hours

Time it will take for Firewind to get WHM from 90-ish to 99 and get enough gear and atma to be not laughed out of a party: I have no idea XD

Honestly all people look for in a White Mage in Abyssea is MM for refresh and make sure they aren't naked. If they're really picky they might bitch about you needing a magian cure stick and some sweet AF3 pants. But then, I"m sure you know a hell of a lot more about gearing WHM than I do, so you'll be driven to improve yourself because you know what's what rather than because people are calling you out on your gear.

Any advice on merits when I get to that point? I'm planning on Burst II, Freeze II and Thunder/Ice Potency+ respectively.

Is that still the standard or do I need to mix it up a bit?

It is still the standard, but I find any of the AM2 to be a waste of merits. I haven't used them ever. If you have merits capped, you may as well put them somewhere, but you won't use the AM2. Thunder/Ice Potency, yes.

Well one problem that I currently have with the WHM gear I'm seeing in guides on FFXIAH.com...I have no idea how to get most of it. I see plenty of threads saying "You should gun for X" but no guides saying "This is how you get X" if that makes sense. I'm assuming that most of it comes from the Voidwatch stuff though the FFXIclopedia guide doesn't really explain how it works well. All I can really greal from it is that it's ZNM with even worse drop rates going on what other forums say

Also a Magian Staff will take a while. I'm basically going it from scratch "Crook > whatever > the bit in the middle > Suriyayaya +2 > That new one" is what I need to do. When I played for a bit last year nobody was willing to help out and my Staff Skill is abysmal anyway. Farming Atma and AF gear upgrades was also a pain due to the above too. I think Yyg did offer to help fairly often but he was also busy with work fairly often and not able to help out a lot. I still don't have any Atma, well I do but it is only of any use for RDM, BLU, PLD and DRK.

I managed to get a few Body Seals and Head Seals for Orison I think but that was about it

Most of what's relevant can be found on the item's FFXIAH page. It's really the first place I go when I need info on a piece of gear and it conveniently has links to all the wikis too.

On walk back from quifm op warp to jeuno - got 2x escape, 1 x tractor and 1x kaisor sword. which works out when sold about 110k

Yeah, the profit margins on cooking are a hell of a lot better than anything I ever saw while leveling Alchemy(HQ everything or go home). It's also handy to be able to just make whatever food I want access to. Cooking isn't going to be big money, but it's going to be reliable since people always need consumables.

Farming's probably more profitable if you know what to go after, but I hate farming.

Cooking is always nice, you never see huge numbers with it even with Sushi but all of those small sales really add up fast. I always useed to put up a couple of stacks of Melon Pies for levelling mages to go with other stuff I've been selling and it's a nice little bonus.

Hmm so I'm back in the game and realised the quest to go past 90 requires me to farm a ton of merit points and the only groups that seem to be forming are VNM groups...Hmm looks like this may take a while.

Also while searching it seems that every single WHM out there is /BLM or /RDM and I am literally the only WHM in the search results subbing SCH. Are Sleepga II and Refresh really that much better than Light Arts, Accession, Dark Arts Aspir, Dispel and Sublimation?

Probably not BUT they don't require you to level SCH to get them, which is a huge plus. <_<

Convert restores about the same MP over time as Sublimation so I didn't add that because they basically do the exact same thing in the big picture. Convert does win in fights/parties that last for less than 10 mins though.

And nope, logging for the night, 2am and a full hour and a half of shouting to get a merit group in Aby and whispering Aby groups in progress and no joy, there's simply not enough people on. Next time I can really give it a go will be Saturday night because I really doubt there will be any Abyssea groups going at 7-11pm GMT.
