Leasious will be posting here after she makes it through that tunnel to Beaucedine, so here's a related post:
Hardest / scariest runs in FFXI:
1. running to get to your party at Azouph Aisle with the imps
2. running to jeuno for the first time
3. running to get to Byakko
4. running to get through the opening tunnel to get to qufim party for your first time
5. running to get through that tunnel that leads to Beaucedine
6. running to get to the throne room in Castle Zahvl (spelling?)

feel free to add on...
Running to the top of Uleg. Range for the first time to get the map. (Non-Abyssea)
Also... any of the level capped zones for CoP. Running through any of them alone was next to impossible... not to mention terrifying.
Riverne wasn't too bad, I ran through it on a weekly basis to do solo ENM40 on my RDM. Helps that it was a fairly open zone with barely any doors to interact with. It was still terrifying because of the true sight Hippogryphs though.
The most ballsy thing I've ever done was run from the entrances to Yhoator and Sea Serpent Grotto to Kazham with no sneak/invis and without drawing aggro though.

Thanks. It started off as a tiny experiment on the game's mechanics. I noticed that the goblins in the tunnels seem to do an instant 180 (they're facing one direction and then they immediately appear facing the opposite direction) instead of rotating 180 degrees left or right. So I snuck up on a Goblin that was walking away from me and started walking next to it. At the end of the tunnel it would do the 180 and never notice me, because it's not actually rotating. At that point my brain started squirting the juice that lets me know I'm a clever bastard and just kept doing it all the way back.

You are the only person I know who would even notice that, much less think to test it. That is quite the find.

Thanks. I was constantly looking for ways to break the game but never found anything as major as that glitch where your Delay would reset when you put away your weapons. I heard you could take a Great Axe, smack a mob, put it away, take it back out and smack it again (now repeat.) It's not the fastest process in the world but it'd probably be about twice as fast as usual, lol.
One of my failed experiments consisted telling the game to do Vorpal Blade, and trying to switch my sword for a great sword during the half second the game is "readying" the WS. Alas, SE covered their asses pretty well.
EDIT: Although I DID discover that Hi-Pots generate a fair amount of hate and could be used for tanking when I was doing Ultima/Omega for CoP.
I always felt running anywhere through Ifrits Cauldron (especially as a mage job) was scary.
Like the room with the Ass Dragon? I remember getting stuck in that room... at the mercy of the flame sprouts... Sneak and Invis wearing down... RR gone... and trying to make a mad dash to the zone line for the CoP Headstone Pilgrimage.

I also remember dying at that very spot because my sneak/invis wore off before the spout went down and Carby couldn't hold off the 1 bomb that aggrod me long enough. Recasting Carby Magic aggrod the other 3 bombs in the area and I was overwhelmed... and died inches from the zone line. I had to wait almost 45 minutes for a LS buddy to navigate the zone and get to me without a map... jsut so I didn't have to do it all over again.
Speaking of deaths: am I the only one that was brutally murdered before I could even finish zoning the first time I went down to Bostauneoux Oubliette?

Nope. Happened to me too. I zoned in as SMN with no avatar out and as the screen loaded I was face down on the concrete.
