Grats Leas
That ruby brings back horrible memories…Looking back about 9 years or so, SMN was not the best job to try and take up to the 75 cap first.
But it’s a completely different era now. I suggest getting some avatars and giving smn a shot. Pretty fun job imo.
How many mobs did it take? I remember, shit, 7-8 years ago taking my 30 mnk and my buddies 24 pld out to one of the beaches and we pounded on leeches for like 3-4 hours. He got his drop after the first 30 mins, mine took much longer... It actually came down to us being so sleepy and then saying, "ok, 1 more then I'm quitting..." and then it dropped on the mob.
Good job on that ruby. A lot of people have trouble getting it. A couple years before you started, the Buburimu leech beaches were hugely popular for farming NPC'able blood. I remember lvl'n THF there and being asked to help several higher lvl players get their ruby. Made my 30'ish THF feel important. The weather can be a pain in the ass if you focus simply on tracking down the weather events. I just kept it on my character and before I knew it, I got the all the weather events just doing what I would have normally done in just adventuring.
SMN always looked like a cool job. Have fun with it.
Any opinions expressed are my own, and potentially unpopular with others. Should this be upsetting, maybe, read it again, insert smiley faces, rainbows, and glitter as needed.
We got to the Peninsula and I killed all 7 leeches there on SMN without anything dropping... not even a blood... so i warped back, changed to NIN/THF and returned to the area. Killed 2 leeches and the second one dropped the ruby.
So... 1/9
I told Lea how lucky she was. Back in the day it took me 2-300 leeches to see a ruby. I sat on the goddamn beach for hours.
Not sure if you need light or dark…been a long ass time.
But here’s my suggestions
Light - …I forget…rare in qufim?
Dark – Xarc
Ice – Xarc/Glacier
Earth – Valk/Konshtat
Fire – Rare in Valk
Wind – La Thiene
Thunder - Pashmallow
Water – Pashmallow
Remember to rezone if weather pops while you’re already in the area
