Same strategy as with the cleaver... only this time on the severer. Lago (TM) joined me and even though he double procd... we got full drops. Thanks TM! Looks like I found my new way of collecting AF3+2 upgrades.... yay for owning ironclads!
Finished up my spider trial. Now on to 100 birds in Wind. Colibri I guess?
Over King Apkallu in Aby Miseraux is a good one. I have 300 to kill for the final part of killing for my STR shamshir. Went there last night, and there was a group cleaving the hell out of em. We did 120 in one Firesday.

Heh heh, I had a lot of fun soloing Ironclad Executioner for half the upgrade items for my AF3 hands. How do the others stack up against Executioner Yyg?

If you're cleaving birds in misareaux, sit between colibri, bats and frigate birds and pull all three families.
Thank you both. To be honest, I never even thought about anything in Aby. I tend to do trials as far away from civilization as possible. That way I can go my own speed and do work around the house at the same time.

NIN from 46-58. I had the AF weapons & have started the first AF gear quest. I need 4 coffer keys to get all the NIN AF. For once, my packrat-ness has come in handy. I already have all four keys I need.
Got my first +2 AF3 piece -- WHM feet. We had farmed KIs for the +2 upgrade pieces in Vunkerl a couple of weeks ago & started going after the upgrade items on Saturday. "Chair Guy" (can't remember the name, but I think it starts with "D") was pretty easy. We tried the Taurus NM & had our heads handed to us. NOT pretty. I know we did other mobs, too, but I can't remember which ones.
Finally got my last DNC foot seal -- and we only had to fight Iku-Torsu six or seven times to get that one freakin' seal to drop. During that time, I think we got 12-14 MNK seals, 8-10 THF seals, and 3 NIN seals.
Got my PLD testimony within 15 minutes in Beaudeux (took longer for the blasted coffer key). Should I attempt Maat now at 66 or wait til 70?
Wait 'til 70. You got lucky this time, but if you wipe, it may be hours 'til the next Testimony drops.
And remember:
* Gear for Attack, eat meat food
* If you're running backwards in 1st person view, Maat can't WS you
* Joyeuse will greatly increase your chance of winning.
* You can also go in at 69 with less than 500 tnl and pop an EXP scroll for a full heal.
* Certain meds will prevent you from using JA/WS/spells for a few seconds
I've read a couple of times he has a tendency to "rage" and start using WS very aggresively as you near the 10 minute mark. I didn't bother sleeping to 300, I just rushed right in. I did use an Icarus Wing though.
Can you still WS him? Or do you step in, WS him, and then step back out?
As long as he's in attack range, you don't have to stop. WS range is marginally larger than melee range - for instance, you can WS a silenced worm without it being able to retaliate. It's just that enemies chase you at maximum melee range. Because of that, when the mob stops to "ready" his TP move, that 0.5 second pause is long enough for you to run out of range (as long as you were already running.)
You can run backwards in a circle to avoid running into walls. Of course do be aware that Maat will stop to cast spells periodically. Mobs tend to recast spells 18-32 secs after their last cast completed. Maat is probably the same.
Levi or Ramuh might be faster on the clads. i believe they're weak to water/thunder
They are weak to water and thunder. Tusked Terror or Lion/Blinding Horn would replace Gales. Cleaver is specifically strong against all elements save for water and thunder. Oh wait that's right, you didn't unlock those BPs...
it's beside the point now but you can actually lvl3 (light chain) with your auto. Magic Motar -> Dragon kick = Light
It's not beside the point. It's impossible.
It's kind of hard to break the latent on a MNK-only weapon with a PUP main. As a subjob, automatons do not have the skill level to do that, at least not at level 45.
And I'm sure you said the same thing months ago when I was breaking Nyzul weapons.
