Serpentes Sabots are pretty damn stylish on top of being extremely useful. I am most pleased.

I was a bit surprised when on two separate occasions people offered to help me with the Brooder I was soloing. Heck the second time the boots dropped and the three other people didn't even bother lotting, they just passed them straight to me. People being considerate? What is this world coming to?

Oh, and a certain someone has prompted me to start working on my MDT set so it's something more substantial than "oh, my Relic gloves have MDB on them".

Finally killed Nepionic Soulfayer and Altedour I Tavnazia for BLU and WHM AF. Was level 62 for both. The super skill chain I detailed earlier worked fine for both, though it tends to break midway through any given fight just due to stuns or sleeps or what not. Both being magic resistant doesn't really help. Can't wait to try this on something with the HP to take it and doesn't die halfway through, but isn't resistant to some form of magic or other.

Did they pop it for you? They were probably just passing through on the way up the VNM tiers. Apparently the upgrade is not a 100% thing, either.

It's either that or the ranged att/acc mantle.

Actually I popped it on my own and they just wandered by. I think they were trying to upgrade to tier 3.

Today's victory: Soloing Ovni
A lot easier than I would have expected, although it did take more shihei than I accounted for as well. Takes a while to wear him down.

Got San d'Oria quest 12 and Windurst quests 12 and 13 done. That just leaves San d'Oria quest 13 to have all WotG missions done. I think the only other main storyline mission I have left now is Apocalypse Nigh.

S12 was pretty easy on WHM, but I did have to do it a second time because I ran out of MP. The second time I took naps between heal bombs, and didn't even have to convert. S13 just has too much crap moving around. I tried it on RDM/NIN and just couldn't keep up. Maybe I'll try it again on WHM/NIN. Too bad that the only 90 job that I have movement gear for is PUP, and that's not exactly at solo kiting.

W12 wasn't too hard either. I figured out a good strategy on my first try after dying twice, but ran out of time. When I came back, I found a dead guy up there at the top of Oz. He was on W13. We did both of the fights with my pet soloing, and 13 was the easier fight.

Soloed Ironclad Severer for Caller's Pendant (among the other stuff that dropped).
Got maps of Promy-Dem, Mea and Vahzl. Picked up a Stone Gorget and Dia Wand as well. The former was the original reason why I went, but decided to go for gold.
Did Besieged and holy cow did they up the cap. 15000 limit points from a Mamool Ja attack.

I've fallen in love with besieged. I just wish it was more reliable when it was starting. As a person who doesnt really like the idea of burning jobs from 30 to cap. Beseiged offers a big chunk of exp that makes up for grinding on mobs for 100-200 a pop plus a fov bonus.

Loving soloing on bombs in ugly range. I'm 5k from lvl 60 /cheer best pick up the af soon.

Got PLD and DRK burned up to 50+ in Crawler's Nest. That leaves SMN and DRG, then I'll probably go in later for NIN and SCH which are both at 47 right now. I'm a little disappointed that it's taken this long, but finishing WotG missions was a much higher priority.

Also popped Unstable Cluster with the Clustered Tar that I got while learning Refueling, but no drop.


As for Besieged, the main problem is that the Preparing goes a lot faster than it used to, and the battles also end faster with all the 90s in there. Only Advancing still lasts as long as it used to (~30 minutes).

Combine that with a recent candy loss (common lately when a Besieged happens during EU prime and people haven't been rescuing prisoners), and that means a level 1-4 could happen and you'd never know it unless you check the /bmap every hour religously. And then there's the problem that they tend to happen about once every 24 hours, and can get in sync such that two or three of them can happen at the same time when you're asleep or at work.

I'm liking besieged solely for the imperial standing at this point. I don't hang out much in aht urgahn, but when I do it's nice to have enough points to get the maps and a few staging point ports. Not a big deal from a vets perspective of having 100k+ in IS, but for new chars and the near complete lack of ToAU leveling anymore, that stuff is pretty valuable.

Anywho, as far as accompishments go, I finished up AF on my whole group. SAM BC fight was ridiculously easy compared to WHM, BLU and PLD. Felt like walking in to the BC and saying "you know what I just went through for these two guys? You bitches ain't got nothing on me!".

Also killed the shadow lord, who was way more of a pushover than I remember. Meleed him down to physical immune stage, BLM dropped a Tornado on him, finished meleeing him down, BLU takes down his final form with one self skill chain. Well, we magic burst a pair of holys and fire 2s, but I think they only went off because his death mechanic is funky.

Next on the agenda is to grind to 70, beat maat 5 times, raubahn once, get to 75, and check out this Abyssea place everyone keeps talking about.

I totally understand where you are coming from regarding IS. I was hoping to get my turban as soon as I had hit 75 on bst. Beseiged helped with that but by the time I had enough I'd already gone full perle on my bst "dont hate me" and put my dusk stuff away for a later date.

Thankfully a couple of friends and I have been doing ToAU missions we're up to fighting gesso now. He gave us a right seeing to, Wiki tells lies XD
I'd never really done anything in ToAU areas before hand apart from going to nyzul once with some friends just to see what it was like and unlocking pup and blu.
The guides I followed for Bst had me mainly in conquest areas. When coming to the missions for ToAU the areas were alien to me and I lacked staging points / maps.
It's been fun getting used to them though. Some of the areas I was sneak/invis through really had my heart in my mouth at some points, How I got through amazes me still.
The latest inLs joke for me is "Do farts have lumps?" lol.

Ifrit's Cauldron map... FINALLY!! Hopefully that a will assist me in getting my fire day/weather trials done. Found the coffer right off the bat but farming for the key took a bit longer than expected.

Nyzul Isle 1-15 ... again... FINALLY!!! Pretty fun... we had two vets showing us the way through. I'd only ever done it twice. 1st I was pretty much dragged through and told what to do when I was needed to do something. 2nd time I was completely confused cuz there was the leader and then someone who wanted to take over as leader and their argument just confused me further.

Started my Savage Blade trial... been totally forgetting to do that.

5/10 BLU body seal... can't wait to get that done cuz I have the +2 upgrade waiting.

Finally found Mannequin Hands and Head for sale... want more... but not finding anything... wondering if I could attempt learning and solo'n or low manning Garrison.

Wandered around in Abyssea Tahrongi last night and decided to finally trounce Lachrymater for my Witchstone. Went 1/1 and the fight wasn't too tough. I didn't even have to kite it, just sat there and kept shadows up and wore him down.

Then since I had nothing better to do I tackled Mictlantecuhtli for giggles. I knew going in that I probably wasn't going to be able to take him down on my own, but I was actually surprised at how well I held up. After about twenty minutes I was still holding my own fairly well with no real "oh shit I'm gonna die" moments. The problem, is that in that time I had only managed to wear him down to about 90% HP. For whatever reason, this guy's attack/ability/spell patterns are such that he eats up shadows a lot faster than some of the other NMs I've fought. It's not quite fast enough to outright defeat me, but it's enough that it slows down kill speed considerably. It also probably doesn't help that if you hit him at the wrong time he'll heal instead of taking damage, so that was probably working against me as well. Overall though he wasn't particularly difficult to survive against, just a bit too resilient for me to wear down before his rage timer would kick in. Ultimately I opted to just let him finish me off instead of wasting another bag of shihei.

It was an interesting and educational experience. I'm pretty sure duoing him would be a snap if I had another mage to work with and could maintain a hold on hate.
