I’m putting this under accomplishments pre-maturely but…

I don’t think many pups will be able to say the same ^^.
(btw those numbers include Merits/+2 pants)

I’m holding off on all remaining +1 and +2 items until my buddy gets his Mnk to 90.

Really wish Ventriloquies (sp) and Role Reversal were regular abilities…even if they had slightly longer timers. I would have loved to max out Fine tuning…

I got 22 Briarius helms last night il probably get the other 28 tonight, now I cant deside what weapon to make kanagi or almace. My nin is 62 but i can hit 90 in one sitting, I got whm 38-90 in one weekend. If I do almace I can only use it on rdm so far, But it can be used on pld and blu also which has more uses. I can deside.

I did it!!! I finally did it. I capped my Puppet Rng skill (374/374). And I am officially impressed with the Rng again.

Dammit! That's what I came here to say! But I got to 354/354, so are you counting skill bonuses from gear or something?

I also capped dagger on PUP while doing it, partly because I could, partly because it helped me not kill the mobs so fast, and partly because Gust Slash (and some other dagger WSs from subjobs) gets amber lights.

I would have started on Club, but then I looked up what my weapon choices were. PUP has a D in Club, but only gets to use "All Jobs" clubs. Essentially the only choice above level 50 is Titan's Cudgel at level 65. There's another one that's level 75, but you have to get a drop from AV for that one. WTF SE, if you're going to give a native skill, at least give some usable weapons. This is worse than when I was looking for a scythe for BLM. Oh well, I'll skill it up on WHM eventually.

I also got melee to 315, which is the cap when not using Valoredge.

Two 90pups destroyed the place. Entered and killed 3 Murexes for Azure. Started getting TEs roughly 10 minutes after entering. Stopped opening TE chests to save keys after we hit 250+ minutes.

I haven't seriously tried to get TEs on PUP yet because it's a pain to switch to sharpshot and back all the time. I'll care when I'm back to using Soulsoother. But yesterday I managed to get 3 TEs while trying to proc amber, so go figure.

I think PUP is kind of underrated in Abyssea, in that anyone who isn't PUP doesn't realize what it can do in there. I was soloing on Ectozoons, which were only coming up as DC, but even a mere 1500 Stringing Pummel and another 1300 for Daze still killed the worms fast. It was hard not to get ruby lights.

I also got an Emerald Abyssite of Acumen, so blue chests take one less guess now. I still need to get the Crimson one, then most blue chests will be only 1 or 2 guesses.

Yes, I guess technically it would be 354/354. And I’m actually capped at 374 (not 384). I have 5/5 rng merits (+10) and the +2 legs (+10). I messed up my numbers though. I thought Mage and Rng had the same grade in skills…but the goal WAS reached. I have all skills capped. It’s a good feeling.

Wow…ha, I feel a little dumb now that you mention that ><. Honestly never even thought about using daggers to Amber. Probably because I haven’t used daggers in like a year ><. I mean I don’t really NEED any more feet pieces but I have made a killing off goldbox armor/items. That’s pretty huge actually. Looks like Pup can build all lights. Now if we can only find a way for Bst to get Azure…

As far as melee, that’s pretty much what I did. Leveled it last since all frames can skill it. Skill ups are so confusing at times. I logged in and needed I think 8 levels. Got the first 3 full levels within 7 minutes…was weird. Then next 4 skill levels took well over an hour. Once I was was 1 level away, I was like ‘cool, I can be outta here hopefully in 20 minutes’. Then BAM back to back .5s lol.

Just to give you a rough idea. Last night in the Pup duo I was in (2 pup/nin, 1 whm frame, 1 valor frame), we fought right in the middle. I used RR/C&D/Stout atmas. Killing was borderline non stop since birds would pop and soon link. At one point there were 8 blue chests sitting there that we couldn’t get to because we were fighting. A lot of unchecked chests depopped that night. Was easier the previous nights because we brought a key guy. Imagine that…2 people needed a key guy ><

I guess it depends on the area and what abyssites you have, but Murexes are the key (or whatever gives enhanced lights in the area). I could never figure out Hero zones though…I’ve gone in and gotten a TE on the first chest, then never saw one again.

I probably wont need to build TEs again for a while with all the stones I now have…but if I was strictly building time, Mis Coast was the place to be. I usually enter and pull out my Blm frame. All I give it is Loud Speaker I & II and Magic Channeler. Then I go whittle murexes down to like ~5%. Fire off a spell, rinse repeat on more murexes. In Mis Coast, 3 Murexes are enough for me to get TE. So I usually kill 4 to be safe. Then I switch to Rng frame. So I’m really only switching autos once.

I fight the Colibiri because they don’t give ruby lights. So I can Stringing Pummel/Armor Piercer left and right w/o worry (it helps that their weaker to piercing). And since I have very low ruby (from Abysittes only), most chests are blue. 2hr Chests are great to help with some minor healing if needed as well as resetting Active timer in a pinch. I don’t cap pearl lights off murexes. That just kinda builds as I mow down birds. If a murex happens to wander my way, I’ll try to though.

Not sure what Atmas you have or where using but I had RR/VV/Stout Arm and was getting at least 2000+ Pummels and 2300+ Piercers on the birds. And that’s was the low end. I’ll admit those aren’t the easiest Atmas to get by any stretch but use them if you have it. If not. I think Atma of the Drifter is pretty easy to get and should help Rng out till Stout Arm comes along.

Wanna know what was really cool though. I would build up 100+ TP on me and my puppet. Walk up to a bird. Hit 2 macros and the bird was down in 2 hits.
Deploy (Armor Pierecer), Tactical Swap (Armor Piercer). I didn’t even engage lol .

I'm just going to post my latest and greatest FAILURES today.

First... I logged on to see a shout in Jeuno for a Shinryu Fight. They were looking for a NIN and they were 5/6. I joined and we immediately ran to the zone to begin preperations. At the time it was 12:30 Vanadiel Time... and our party setup was as follows:

SAM/WAR (brewer)
WAR/NIN
WHM/SCH
SCH/WHM
THF/NIN

From the setup, I was fairly confident that we had this in the bag and that I would finally get the Atma, win and maybe even the belt or knife I've been after. No such luck.

We went in at Slashing time and I got buffed to all hell with C&D, Siren and Impregnable Tower atmas... as well as Phalanx, Protect, Shell, SS and of course my shadows. I hit Yonin and ran in after Shin. I managed to get the red and blue hint off my first 2 WS I threw down (EFF YEAH). After that... the fight went to hell. Turns out the blue hint was for Sword... and our WAR couldn't use the one it wound up being (EFF NO!!!). Despite my protests... the group decided to wipe and try again. By the time we got ready, slashing time was over and we were entering blunt. The WAR didn't have MNK lvld, but our WHM did... so the 2 changed places and our WAR went WHM while our WHM went MNK. We entered just before the phase would have ended... at 5:56. Same buff ups and preperation... but this time... no sooner did I start running in... then Shinryu used an abiity (unsure what it was because of how fast it all happened) that wiped all 4 of my shadows in one hit... followed up by 2 very quick hits that dropped me to 120hp... and then a melee attack that wiped me. The only saving grace was that I managed to drop Blade: Ei on him before went down... effectively getting the hint as "Hand to Hand" and informing the pt. the MNK rushed in with boarderline 4k HP and began wailing on Shin. After about 30 seconds or so, Shinryu drew everyone in, tore through the WHM and SCH and began going to town again on the MNK. We wiped about 30 more seconds after that.

Now... IMHO, after I shouted the hint, the SAM should have popped his brew and started working on Shin while the MNK attempted to proc the Blue!!. It was only a possibility of 4 or 5 WS... and all 5 could have been used before the timer on the brew was up. Did he do that? no... no he did not. We wiped.

The brewer wanted to try a 3rd time... but the WAR and I werent having it. Leadership was slacking and we just werent working out. In all realism... I should never have been the tank in the first place. A Shinryu tank should have at least 2.5k HP... I was at 1.8.

After that loss, I returned to Jeuno to look for a new group doing something different. I wound up finding a guy shouting for a party to go after a Fairy NM in Abyssea - Grauberg. (I cant remember the name... but it's the one that drops Iga Seal: Body... so I went). This party was also well staffed... but failed:

We didn't have all the possible procs in the group... but who was I to complain... it wasn't my pop set they were using.

So we head to the spawn, I grabbed a few fluxes I didn't already have and we found the ???. The area surrounding it was swarming (literally) with faries who aggro on sight and link. The party leader (BLM/WHM) went to pop the NM and bring it back to me (in an area that was still infested with the faries) and I proceded to go to work on it. Tanking it wasn't a problem at all. The NM is a piece of cake. The only thing to take care of are the NMs AGA spells which, if not stunned... hit for around 2400 even with Shell V. This is why we had x2 BLM. They rotated the stuns and things went ok... until out of nowhere... the mages get swarmed by 6 or 7 faries. Needless to say... tey went down and I was alone... ok for a while. In the end I took an aga to the face and went down hard. We regrouped, the leader bought a new pop set off the AH and we tried again... and again no luck. This time, one of the BLMs DC'd in the middle of the fight and the remaining BLM couldn't keep up stunning the agas alone at the rate they were being cast. We wiped and the leader ragequit on us.

0/2 on a productive morning.

My last activity before I left the house was to head to Abyssea - U. Range and do one of the "run here... do this" quests that sometimes reward you with seals. I did the one where you start at Flux 5 and run to 6 and then 7... to drop of coal at the boxes in those locations. It's easy as hell... and I suggest it to anyone who would otherwise have nothing to do. I wound up getting a Lancer Seal: Body... hurray? I have a lot of lancer seals.. so I suppose if the vote swings in that direction... I'll at least be able to start it up fairly easily once I get to 90.

Once I finished... I ran down toward the buffalo that people kill while doing Dominion to try and get mysefl killed so I could D warp back to Jeuno. I had used my 2 hour to get back from the fairy fight... or I would have done that instead. I ran past an alliance killing buffalo and I felt bad about stealing some of their targets just so I could die... so I decided to link 7 or 8 of them and bring them back to the alliance... for them to claim when I died. I made it down to around 500 health and shouted "DONT TOUCH! I'M WARPING. THEY'RE YOURS WHEN I DIE". What did they do? Their 2 BLMs Sleepga'd the lot of them besides the 1 that I was fighting. Damn thing couldn't hit me even when I was naked. I ended up telling them they were dumb for sleeping them... and getting a D2 from one of the BLM's who dropped andinvited me so I could finally getback to jeuno.

What a morning.

It’s not how long the brew lasts…it’s ho0w long shiny lasts…

I can kill Shinryu with 4 properly timed Primal Rends on Bst. And your getting 50tp regain. I’ve even heard rumors of Mnks 1 shotting him lol. He can be taken down in mere seconds.

You merited automaton ranged? O.o You know there are one or two BLM spells that you can only get with meriting magic, right?

To be fair, I only found out about that from a Zam thread the other day. I didn't even realize a WS could proc something other than TEH EIVL RUBY.

Since I haven't found a good reason yet to go straight Valoredge over straight Sharpshot, I'm not too worried about that last 40 or so melee. Valoredge/Stormwaker is an okay combo, though, Cure IV without wasting its time on debuffs.

I've been told that the bastard elementals work in the newer zones. And I think I said above that I got three TEs while trying to proc amber, but maybe some of that is from the Abyssites I got on the way to Shinryu.

I'll have to remember that. I do amuse myself by Deploying sharpshot on random lowbie area mobs just for the fun of it, but two APs on an Abyssea mob could be nice.


So anyhow, I just spent 2M on Hermes' Sandals. I think it's the single most expensive item I've bought so far, but I had the gil for it. There's nothing much cooler than a tarutaru with movement speed.

And I've been working on more Abyssites, but the important thing is that I got my 4th Sojourn, for +12 minutes per stone.

Easy killer, you do know you can cap 2 group 1 merits right? Activate and Repair seem like a waste to me. I choose to do ranged over melee.

agreed…another reason I went Rng merits over Melee.

As for the chests…
It takes way too long to play the guessing game. Especially if you’re solo. Like I said we had about 8 chests up and some started depoping. A simple key macro will save lots of time. I only open cruor chests (since they equal 2 keys) and the occasional TE/temp/2hr if needed. I’m capped on xp and merits in all categories…so those go to waste.

Not totally accurate. You can easily build ruby by killing the local murex or by popping the red chests. If you have 1 willing person to drag it out of xp range, the alliance will get the ruby light and not break their chain (cept for the guy who killed it). There are many xp parties there. I thought mandys didn’t give ruby either and they are pretty popular. Murexes in Vun used to be popular as well.

Another PLUS when fighting those Birds. No AoE moves so you can activate/deactivate your heart out and swap MM with RR. I’m also pretty sure if you had to pick between RR or VV, RR would win but not don’t quote me. Stout Arm was pretty sweet though. Regular ranged hits were doing I think 550+

I had em…but sold em when I got the 8% speed on legs. It’s not the same though. That 4% is fairly noticeable imo. But what are you gonna do. I’m not about to drop another 2m or so on them.

I’m 5/6 (I think there’s 6 right). I've luckly got MOST of the abyssites/Atmas that i want. The rest are more for situation things. If they were so bad to get w/o red procs i'd go solo them...but...

Thank god that's done. Now I just have 1600 more weponskills to go ti finish this sword.

Abyssea leached my SMN from 59 to 80. It was a leech party: two people killing (a mnk and thf), everyone else was a leech, most were doing boxes. Despite how slow that sounds, we were still managing about 115k a hour by our estimates, and killing far faster than the parties that were there.

Now to begin the long and horrible process of getting my summoning skill capped again.

I got THF to 90 over the weekend. I had Twilight Knife/Belt, Atheling Mantle, Ballarines, Rapidus Sax and some other stuff all waiting on me. lol.
