Ugh I hate that sword I feel bad for your friend. I wouldn't be caught dead carrying that thing unless I was kiting some hardcore mob.

Lv.65's Macuahuitl +1? If so, that's a perfectly fine weapon for a defensive PLD in exp party. 4% more enmity on everything-Provoke, Flash, Cure, Sentinel--is a decent trade off for 2% less hit rate.

Lower D (and DPS) rating isn't too much of an issue unless the PLD is geared as DD with offensive food like sushi or Marinara Pizza.

Macuahuitl +1 is a keeper at Lv.75, too, especially for PLDs without Atonement. This is really one sword every single PLD should have, except those with Burtgang. (Not that it's appropriate for everything, of course.)

Eh. I'm biased against it because it's generally sported by full-on hard-headed turtles. The kind of people that tell you Haub is a bad thing to wear.

But at any rate, it looks atrocious (I know, can be fixed with dat swaps, for the viewer at least) and it's expensive for something that should ultimately be replaced at 70 until you have better reasons to have one at 75. If I were to pay over 50k for an EXP weapon I'd rather splurge it on Espadon +1. 4 less enmity and Attack, but also 4 more Accuracy and 5% more DPS relative to the beavertail.

Or better yet you could go the cheap-yet-effective route and brandish the underrated Save the Queen for 1/3 of Mac's cost. The +20 Acc will come in handy if you actually have to use Cover, and for parties where you're holding solid hate, Berserk + Cover can yield some nice Vorpals.

Well, I wouldn't say Macuahuitl +1 is a must have at Lv.65, but it is the most effective sword for defensive PLD until Joyeuse, IMO. (Joyeuse is not a must have, either, at least not for exp parties.) Not that a PLD should be on defensive build in every party, of course.

Macuahuitl +1 is good to have at Lv.65, and a must have at Lv.75 for the vast majority of PLD players. No reason not to get it when one can wear it.

It's a good sword when tanking hard(er than merit) stuff w/out Atonement. (Yes, some of us haven't managed to hit Nyzul Isle 100, yet. I keep falling asleep in front of Robber Crab soloing with Brave Blade, so sue me.)

It's a great sword when kiting--there really isn't anything better than Macuahuitl +1 for kiting except Burtgang, AFAIK. This is what makes it a must have in my book.

Somehow managed to keep Genbu from stomping flat our Blizzaga III and Blizza IV loving BLMs as PLD/NIN. My first time on PLD for that critter, and, no, the brown, toothy sword does not look ugly to me at all. The most suicidal BLM said he was surprised.

Don't feel bad about not having Atonement, Itaz. I don't have Mystic Boon because the mere thought of soloing 7000+ weapon skill points makes me want to kill myself.

Climbing sucks when your good static disbands before the update when everyone's data is saved, and you have to rely on pick ups for your climb afterwards. And the old static can't exactly re-form because half of the members quit. In fact, I think just two of us are left. At least this past week I made some progress. I don't really have the patience for Nyzul anymore, and I really don't trust pick ups with shit like that.

Good luck, you'll need it. That Mammet's fight is a pain in the rear with a pickup group. When I did it we wiped no less than 6 times in a row because this super uber endgame group thought that the best way to win a Level 40 capped fight with a 30 min time limit was to zerg the NMs so that it was impossible for the PLD to keep hate which in turn caused me to rip through all of my MP within the first minute of the fight.

Ironically when I finally convinced these morons that we should take out time and not zerg them we won without anyone dropping below organe health...Yeah if this is what the average EGLS is like on my server there's no way I'm getting involved in that crap.

Well maybe it to Bastok Market [S] last night. So going to joing the 4th.

Got to 51 because of a spur of the moment gathering of class we made a party to go against robber crabs, after first battle seeing we were out classes we moved to quicksand caves. Do to travel time I had to bail soon after leveling but was a great party.

Raised smithing to 11 almost out of tin ingots range. I have making them because they don't sell but they are cheap and easy to make.

3 points shy of vorpal scythe and I am at 51 drk, I am kinda ashamed will have to gather some like minded individuals and see if I can level that up.

Got adventuring fellow, I almost beat the fight record but then the npc voked and the dragon moved out of range of my WS and I lost my tp.

Still haven't gotten pass below the arks 0/0 Dem 0/3 Mea 0/1 Holla. Maybe this weekend I will have another run at it.

Farmed like a champ last night cuz nothing else was really happening... woke this morning to like 60k + this morning and only 1/2 my stuff had sold at that time. Haven't decided between upgrading to a Amemet +1 or getting a Behemoth Knife +1... proly going with the mantle cuz it'd help out my SAM, if ever i get back leveling that. I finally got Spiny Spipi to drop for me... like 1/15+ and now the Mist Silk Cape is only 12k... wtf... used to hold consistent at 20-30k easy. And that was only a month ago. I put it up for a high price cuz ifit doesn't sell, it's a prime candidate to get an augment.

Claimed a few avatar souls as well. Only missing Titan (no oppurtunity yet) and Fenrir, of course. Oh and several elems... yet my smn is lvl 1 ... lmao.

I rarely post in an "accomplishments" type thread, and rarely even say "ding" in-game, but this one just felt too good...

My latest accomplishment was finally getting all jobs above level 30.
Might not seem like much, but since I solo'd most of the way to 30 on alot of them, it seemed like it took forever. Probably not my "best" accomplishment but it's my latest. I'd say my "best" accomplishment in the game was probably defeating RDM Maat or the first time I solo'd a prime avatar.

Now to get them to 37.

One should still be able to hurt IT mobs. If you're fighting ITs you can't hurt, it's your EXP that's really hurting.

But I totally understand not having Atonement. Nyzul isn't a joke, and being PLD only complicates it further since Nyzul is so zerg-friendly.

Soloing them WS points wasnt half bad, and I unlocked Atonement BEFORE I hit floor 100 in Nyzul (actually unlocked all my mythic WS's before floor 100) =P

The chainsaw aint a bad tanking sword, but thats all its really for, and to be honest, it SHOULD get replaced with a Joytoy or some other more accurate sword once a PLD does get Atonement because you tend to keep more hate with a well placed Atonement than the +4 emnity the chainsaw will give you (not to mention you can close light with it for your BLMs to MB off of).

When I wrote "harder than merit" monsters, I meant critters like... Byakko.

Forgot to switch out Joyeuse when I was tanking the white tiger last night; did like 3 to 11 damage per hit (29 on crit!) or so, when I hit it at all.

Accomplishment: Survived 5 hits in a row > Razor Fang > Banishga III from Byakko--and got Ususemi: Ichi up. Hurray for Reprisal.

(Not so accomplished: Didn't quite survive 8 hits in a row after it stripped Ichi. Well, actually, I did survive--but couldn't get Ususemi: Ni up, and Byakko followed up with Claw Cyclone. Triple Attack hurts.)
