I've been playing for a year (and probably 99% of that solo), but I still hadn't leveled my main job, red mage, past 35... until this morning, when I finally dinged 36. It is the highest-level job I have. I've been leveling melee jobs to the 20s for the past several months (rng, war, drg) and leveled dancer to 33 to sub to RDM after becoming so frustrated with soloing as a mage. But I decided I wanted to get rank 4 and 5 in the next month or two, so it's back to red mage with me. Thank goodness for Fields of Valor.

Now there's someone who seems to be enjoying the game without the "race to the top or gtfo" attitude.

BLM soloing gets progressively easier as you level so keep at it. The main big early levels are Lv20 where you first gain access to sleep and Lv30 where you get your Lv2 Magic Attack Bonus. I'll also add in Sleepga at :v31 which is a vital spell for crowd control especially if you're travelling with an aggro magnet like me

Actually, I think it's already pretty easy. Well, I don't have anything to compare, but with the refresh that FoV gives, I can kill the EP rarabs and carrion crows with ease not getting much damage, and basically not needing to rest much.

The problem? I'm stubborn and want the meteorite rock to complete the starfall quest, so it's crawler time until I do.


BTW, what's a normal duration for Bind? With my pansy 3 skill in enfeebling (It levels VERY slowly, even if I use Poison in every fight), it doesn't last much (like... 10 seconds at most), so I'm starting to question its usefulness for leveling.

Shorter then you need it to be.

I only really find Bind useful for Draining/Aspiring the mob (can't remember if Aspir wakes a mob or not) when I can just go Bind, Drain/Aspir, Sleep, Rest

OK, I've already found an use to it: When I'm fighting one of those so-called """"Decent Challenge"""" (Yeah, more like an Even Match in disguise), and I'm going to lose obviously, Bind and then run as if my life depended on it (It does indeed >_>).

No, Aspir will not wake the mob.

If I can actually get the Bind spell off, I do this too. But more often than not, the mob is pounding the piss out of me and I can't get it off in time. Or I do get it off and as I turn to run he gets in that one last lick and I'm dead...........but I bound him!

Finally killed that "Decent Challenge" Crawler after killing me 4 times. After the second kill, I knew it was too tough for a newbie hume BLM/nothing, but it was just personal. I had 3 HP and 5 MP left when I killed it ^_^U

I hope I'll post more meaningful accomplishments in the future

Getting revenge on evil mobs is a meaningful accomplishment!

I can't remember how many times I went after those evil Yag's, just because they killed me so many times when I was new Heck, I'll still Jump them occasionally with my 75 DRG to make sure they remember to fear me

Which reminds me, I still need to get revenge on Sea horror for all the deaths when I was a newbie and for fishing. I still remember seeing it spawn behind as I am in the middle of the fishing animation. As soon as the animation was over...dead.

Haven't updated in awhile;

-RDM to 70(with a good enough buffer), my BLU hasn't been 75 that long yet I seemed to have forgotten how ridiculously long it takes to go from 70 to 75.
-CoP 4-2 finally done, so Sacrarium access(and 0/1 on Swift Belt so far >_<)
-Don't remember if I posted it, but got Fenrir, so I have everything but Diabolos atm for SMN. Fenrir is pretty awesome for soloing BST pets <_<.

I hear ya. Since you'll be saving so many spaces with the horn, get an Aegis TOO!
