I got bonecraft up by using /RNG01 for the first time so I could farm ram horns easier. It's real nice when you can see where those rams are, and I used it to farm elementals for crystals too. And I got the 5K for Stray Mary's milk and came home with 14 ram skins.
One day I dream of having both leather and bone crafts up high enough to make use of the Ram drops as I farm- Konschtat is a magical place to farm, loads of sheep skins, ram skins and horns, grain seeds are easily farmed or stolen if you garden ( I sell tarutaru rice from time to time), and then there's the chance of Mary's Horn- all made possible by Wide Scan and Treasure hunter
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Then you need to go to Tahrongi and start farming dhalmels. Turn the hides to leather and the femurs into bone picks, and then use lightning crystals to get some femurs back. I went WHM/THF would farm my way to Mhaura when my inventory started getting full. Then I sold off the meats to an NPC and switched back to /BLM when I was ready to warp home. When I hit the bone pick cap, I switched to gelatin. When you're through with dhalmels, it's time for the ram parts.
Also, if you have Alchemy in the upper 30s, the dhalmel saliva from Buburimu can be synthed into vitriol (42 cap). Play it right and you can level three crafts in one farming.

After lots of frustration trying to get help with coffers I solo'd it tonight-
I'm not particularly excited about the RNG Hands themselves, but once I kill darkspark, I can go grab the Davoi coffer for my body piece, which I want BADLY.
8K xp and 1 DarkSpark till body piece- getting stoked

Finished the Minotaur fight! IT was fairly easy, although we had to kill it twice because someone in our ally HP'd when they got KO'd instead of waiting on the healer to raise. We also decided to farm subligar a bit, but most people left after we had two subligar drop, due to how late it was, so I still need to get people for my Gemini Subligar.
First of all, congratulations! And welcome to the world of always having your own Raise 3 at all times ( you RR3!)
Now, on to suggestions for WHM Merits:
Group 1: Cure Cast time, Regen, Barspells. Spend where you feel is most beneficial to you, there is no correct use for this. I personally think that meriting JA timers (such as Divine Seal) is a waste of merits, but that's also up to you. Also Banish is meh. It's useful only for soloing or "fun" but not really useful for group play.
Group 2: Shellra V 5/5. Most important. Every serious WHM should have 5/5 Shellra V.
Devotion for SURE. I would merit this FIRST, its usefulness is unmatched, especially on long fights where PLDs are burning the shit out of their MP. Martyr is nice but not necessary, and you could put an extra merit into Devotion if you do not merit Martyr. Your call. Martyr is pretty nice, and the times when I really need it, I'm grateful to have it, but I don't use it very often. Pro V you can just put one merit into, buffing it further isn't worth the merit points.
Anyway, if you are interested, my WHM merits are as follows:
Cure Cast Time 5/5
Regen 3/5
Barspells 2/5
Protectra V 1/5
Shellra V 5/5
Devotion 3/5
Martyr 1/5
I wouldn't do anything with magic skills, maybe merit Enfeebling Magic if you feel like you may level RDM or BLM ever, and really, I am glad to have my 8/8 when I do need to stick a debuff on WHM. Meriting MP is also nice, but not necessary. Something you might want to look at later down the line. Spell interruption is probably something to consider (I'm not at the point where I'm meriting this "other" category) and if you think you will never ever ever ever ever ever level a tank job, merit enmity down.
Those are my thoughts on merits specifically for WHM, should keep you busy for a while! One thing to consider about merits is what you may be leveling next, so keep that in mind as you do your non-job specifics and you'll be golden.

I personally like showing off by hitting Light Arts > Penury > Celerity > RR3 in order. It looks pretty and a lot of people in my LS haven't levelled SCH so they haven't seen the book animations. I guess it's nice being a WHM and light show in one.
Your Group 2 setup is almost identical to what I was thinking of doing so I'm glad to know I was in the right track. As for Group 1's I'm not too sure. Regen and Barspell merits are both really useful. my main endgame activity is Nyzul due to time constraints so I'm pondering focusing more on Regen merits than Barspell merits.
I was considering putting merits into Enfeebling/Elemental anyway. BLM is a lot of fun and I'm tempted to just cave and level RDM or SCH to 75 for merits like just about everyone else on my server. You can probably count the number of 75's who don't have RDM levelled on one hand (not including people with just one 75) on Kujata XD
Pet Claim FTW - and then the ring dropped for that friend
We then proceeded to take out Roc (wasn't even camped) but nothing of value dropped. This Roc was a super long pull (he was sitting next to the Citadel zone) and he ended up raging on Round 1 - we quickly ate a wipe (he had already used Benediction), reraised, and went for Round 2 about 9 minutes later - and he went down fast.
Finally killed that "Decent Challenge" Crawler after killing me 4 times. After the second kill, I knew it was too tough for a newbie hume BLM/nothing, but it was just personal. I had 3 HP and 5 MP left when I killed it ^_^U
I hope I'll post more meaningful accomplishments in the future

I've been playing for a year (and probably 99% of that solo), but I still hadn't leveled my main job, red mage, past 35... until this morning, when I finally dinged 36. It is the highest-level job I have. I've been leveling melee jobs to the 20s for the past several months (rng, war, drg) and leveled dancer to 33 to sub to RDM after becoming so frustrated with soloing as a mage. But I decided I wanted to get rank 4 and 5 in the next month or two, so it's back to red mage with me. Thank goodness for Fields of Valor.

BLM soloing gets progressively easier as you level so keep at it. The main big early levels are Lv20 where you first gain access to sleep and Lv30 where you get your Lv2 Magic Attack Bonus. I'll also add in Sleepga at :v31 which is a vital spell for crowd control especially if you're travelling with an aggro magnet like me
