I hit 55BLU, have all my BLU AF pieces minus the helm after this weekend, and aside from that 2 good things(for me at least).

1) Got into the habit of making my own parties again. Before I took my long break I always did this, but after returning I stayed away from doing this out of laziness, and had long lfp times cause of it. So made my own parties, both in East Ronfaure [S] syncing down to 37, and went 46-53 in one long session and then 53-55.

2) 53-55 I went as BLU/WHM cause I couldn't get a WHM to go out there, and I did amazingly well in the crappy healing gear that I had. Made me really appreciate the subjob and I'm prolly gonna do it more often as long as I retain a refresher in the party(had a BRD in this one).

While doing Promy Runs this weekend I hit Blue Mage 41.

Unlocked Lufaise Meadows areas.

Learned Venom Shell after dying from the first shell mob and then fighting and killing 3 more. Went through 3 stacks of Antidotes.

Learned Geist Wall from Eft.

The aneurysm I suffered at the hands of terrible play from our members was at least slightly offset by me getting Koenig Schaller for my PLD last night and Crimson Finger Gauntlets/Suzaku's Sune-Ate for my RNG mule, I think I now have a passable Holy Bolt build.

So then, gather around the fire as I tell you my tale...

The short of it is we beat Promathia and are done with CoP except for the final CS.

Read on for the blow by blow account!

So CoP day rolls around. We log on, get ready. Some of us forgot or weren't sure if the time got pushed back an hour (which it was) so Canti and I tried out hand at some Codex farming (he has the Anti-TH on this Thf >.>) 7pm comes, and no word from Ana. By 7:30 and still no word from Ana yet, we decided to go on without her. We have a person in the LS, Hanahatana, who is willing to help if we can't find anyone else who needs it. I hop on over to Whitegate and spend about 20-30 minutes /shouting for a Blm who needs it, no one bites so Hana joins our merry band!

We hoof it over to the Cermet Door, Hana has done this before so we all kill ourselves and she Tractors us and we get Raised up. Getting the Brands of Dawn and Twilight was uneventful and fairly quick. The pot fight was absurdly easy, planned on fighting until we got killed, then raise up and take out the rest of the pots. We take out the two Blm pots, and do some light damage to one of the Rdm pots before getting killed. Raised up and took out the two Rdm pots no problem.

Hana had wanted to go AFK to eat, but decided instead to log out for the night. This left us a tiny bit flummoxed as to whether or not we were going to continue for the night. However luckily Viator decided to come help us out!

So now it's something like 10:30pm by the time we're ready to tackle Promathia, we're tired, we're sleepy, some of us are hungry, but we're not gonna stop at this point.

On the first try against Promathia, we have some messed up moments. One of the members forgot to get the CS before the fight, much death was had by everyone's favorite Dragoon as well. Towards Promathia's second form's last 10% of health, he went rather AoE heavy, killing most of us. We had RR up and all, but most of us were weakened and unable to fight. We got him down to about like, 2% of health before Promathia killed Selh'teus, who never healed himself during the entire fight >.<

Second try, we get the second form down to about 50% health before Promathia goes completely AoE crazy on us, kills most of us, manages to kill all the weakened people with a well placed Meteor, and kills Selh'teus with AoE bombardments.

The third try we decide to have Sassy change jobs to Whm. Firecloud and Canti can keep us alive pretty well, but MP is just running a bit dry towards the end of the second form's fights, and an extra healer would just be handy. This time we just totally steamrolled Promathia into the ground with the same ease and sense of effortlessness that was characteristic of all of our earlier fights. It also helped that Selh'teus actually healed himself during this fight.

By this time it's actually the stroke of midnight for us folks on Pacific time, and I'm falling on my face so I have to log during the celebration sadly.

So a big thank you to all the folks who helped us along the way to accomplish this.

To the members of our quirky CoP static, it was a blast, and the most fun that I have had in FFXI. Frankly I'm still speechless from last night. I've been angling for and working towards the CoP missions since I got the expansion one year after it came out. I've been in four, maybe five CoP statics that fell apart for various reasons, spent more money and time than I'd like to think about in the previous statics. To not only finally complete the missions, and to be able to do it with such a great group of people, I really can't put into words just how much that means to me.

I picked up a vorpal sword last night in nyzul off of serket.

Edit: do you have to be at a certain skill to access the WS quest like you do with Savage blade?

Nope, just equip the sword and talk to the guy in Lower Jeuno to start the quest, then have at it.

Do you have to complete all the WS points with the vorpal sword?

Yes, the amount varies depending on what floor you have your own Runic Disc cleared up to, if you have a Runic Key it's only 250 WS points, but being on lower floors gives a very steep increase in the amount needed. The good news is that if you don't yet have a Runic Key but you are in a Nyzul group that is otw to 100, you can start quest, get 250 points, then just wait until you have your key and go back to finish the quest as soon as you've cleared 100.

Funny part: I full attack Carbuncle at it after doing a Pull the Plug enm and then realized after a quickly dead buncle, "Oh no, halp!" in ls where a rdm ls mate came to help, on my kiting path a random pld came and went like "Woah, do you need help?" {Yes, please}
